Uncharted 4 - A Thief's |Reviews Thread| Nateness Awaits

Because of the stupidity of review threads. If you don't think something is perfect that's fine, some people can't accept that.

You be all like

Man look at all those 9 out of 10s and 10 out of 10s. Very nice. One question, why are there some 8s in there? I mean is it just some review sites just being stupid or is there something that's keeping them from giving 9s and/or 10s?

Yes, their personal opinion.

Good scores, I'm not an uncharted fan at all (or tps more in general) but I really did enjoy tlou. I should give this another chance after playing the first one only for a couple of hours.

You freaking serious?

Junior acc, only XBL acc, history is full of posts in MS threads, no Sony games threads. Try harder next time to recreate U3 meltdown

This feels forced. Been a good review thread, lets not.

GOTY for me, I have finished it on Normal and almost on Hard now, one thing does bother me though...when you are stealth and your ally is catching up with you, they sometimes are running about in the open literally meters away from the enemy and they dont get seen, even on Hard mode :-\

It's like that in TLOU too. Thankfully I don't get bothered by that.

It's a minor balancing issue which has been discussed to death ever since TLoU

Trust me, if the enemies could see your teammates, you would be fucking raging every five minutes. There's no way around this until AI reaches a near-human level

Sterling only really came on my radar in the last 6-12 months and honestly I disagree with pretty much everything he says.

Not vehemently, mind you. And I still like him - I think he's articulate and a general force for good. I just take issue with all of his opinions; enough to make me go "no. This guy doesn't get it."

I think his opinions about general topics in the gaming industry are interesting, entertaining and I often agree with him.

But as a reviewer he's been off this gen imo, just disagree with him completely in most cases, often can't understand his perspective and way of thinking when reading them.

Your allies were TLOUed.

Same thing with TLoU. It's either that or you are constantly frustrated that you are stealthy and your buddy keeps sucking it up for you.

I thought Uncharted 3 was only an 7/10 while many sites showered it with the highest ratings.

Come at me.

Real reason: opinions. I don't know when things got warped to the point that people think 7 or 8/10 means that a game isn't quality or worth playing.

Edit: oh you jest. That's pretty funny actually.

Any idea if it's spoilery?
Not really. There's one sentence in it that hints at a locale that hasn't been shown. This was the closing statement "If this is indeed the last Uncharted game, it's a supremely satisfying celebration of the series and an absolute must-play on PlayStation 4."

It was the same on TLOU and I'm glad it's that way. It would be really shitty to get spotted because of your AI partner, imo.

Yep, pretty much exactly how I feel, too. He's been having some increasing health issues for the last 1-2 years, right? Maybe something has been throwing him off rhythm.

I get a very low-energy vibe from all of his reviews now. He still does great with his Jimquisitions, but the reviews? Not so much...

Me either, but you know. The internet age has opened the flood gates for that. I'm old enough to remember all the way back to the Atari 2600. In the 80s and 90s, games rated 7 & 8 were considered big deals. Just a sign of the times.

Sorta of why I hate RE5, otherwise if the AI-partner behaved like the AI in TLOU, I'd love RE5 (or if there was no AI-partner at all).

You know the funniest thing about the whole situation? Is there were more people talking about meltdowns in this review thread pre embargo than actual meltdowns. And the only "meltdowns" are people clearly faking it and trolling to try and put a bad name. It's actually been very civilised. You compare it to recent review threads for AAA releases like Quantum Break and it's actually very peaceful.

Very true. What is this wizardry, Naughty Dog?

OK so it comes back to the original point then. You're dying laughing at someone because they like one game better than another.

Your point, lol?

You never laughed at something you disagreed with, opinions or not?

Show me your enlightened ways, oh master of the baseline.

I think it's because of game design choice and I'm glad they do that. It would be frustrated if we got detected when it wasn't our fault

To be honest, I think the stealth AI (whose implementation I like, cause screw having the AI fuck you over) is less problematic in UC4 then TLOU because UC isn't as reliant on stealth.

So for me, who went guns blazing throughout the UC4 campaign, it was hardly an issue.

Yup!

This isn't the same situation as Uncharted 3 though, where there was some meagre, juvenile reason for having a meltdown. Uncharted 4's release has been stronger to some extant; so there's less to have a meltdown about.

Not that meltdowns are ever a good idea. Stay in school, kids!

Yeah, im playing earthbound now and enemies can initiate a battle by running into my teammates which is obnoxious and almost always results in them getting a surprise attack.
