I thought the 8.8/10 was just a placeholder score? It's still a great score of course.
8.8 is effectively the final score taking into account just the SP experience.

Expectations
Uncharted 1 was a big step up graphically from the likes of Tomb Raider on the PS2, this time around ND had already done amazing work with U2/3 TLOU on the PS3 and the remasters also looked great. I guess U4 is a lot better, but maybe not as much of an impact as previous generational leap?
http://www.pocket-lint.com/review/137518-uncharted-4-a-thief-s-end-review-going-out-with-a-bangYou might lament the 15-16 hour campaign as being too short, but that is lengthy by modern standards. And the fact you feel like racing through it in a matter of days is testament to its premium quality. You also then have the expansive, fun multiplayer to extend play time.
Uncharted 4 is not just the best Uncharted game, it can be argued that it is the best PS4 game full stop – certainly in looks, writing, acting and detail. It is Naughty Dog's love letter to fans and sets the bar by which all future current-gen games will be judged.
Exactly. You pay for it. The only 'complain' about being too long would be if you want to see how the plot ends, or if extremely repetitive (but all games have repetitive gameplay, i mean even the most fun ones you end doing the same over and over). Maybe people should play the games in shorter sessions to avoid that kind of 'fatigue'.
And reviewers are just ... well I cannot trust them anymore. Some scores and reviews seem to search for clicks, or fanboyish arguments. And giving more importance to nitpicking than the whole picture. They look just regular players, not someone that acts professionally.

The guy at PS4 trophies said there's 190 collectible items, my god- that makes Donkey Kong 64 blush in envy.
However that would imply Black Ops3 exceded their expectations over previous CODs(I only take this game as an example of a recent game with several sequels), because a 92, right?.
Yeah, I remember reading something about that. I was wondering if that was really the reason.
Possibly, because it's COD not sure who goes in to those games with great expectations anymore.
I'd like to know what the difference is between a gaming loop (the addictive drive to play) and repetition. I can't see a distinction really.
I liked the reboot too, tripple dipped on it lol, but our opinions are vastly different since I thought RotTR was even better. Way better and more open maps, better crafting and upgrade mechanic, can't say that I grinded any specific area tbh and still did a 100% play-through, at the end of the game I jst replayed a few areas to find hidden stuff but not to get more crafting items. The most annoying collectaton was to find the bulls eye targets, probably searched for 2 hours before I found tha last one but at that point there was zero chance that I would settle with a 99% play-throughSorry for the derail but RotTR was terrible compared to the reboot. The upgrades were mostly combat focused and if you wanted every weapon upgrade in the game you had to needlessly grind specific areas for items. The metroidvania elements were pale in comparison because of the large open areas and the story was laughable compared to the reboot. With that said Game give me Uncharted 4 now!
Then why treat a game differently, with expectations, and punish its score while its not made with others?. I told yesterday and i repeat it know, it´s not fair.
Well I mean... Games can be too long. 18 hours sounds a bit too long to my taste, but we'll see.
Have you never played a game that you felt like was too long?
The reward factor.
By collectibles do you mean Treasures? Because that's almost double the amount of treasures you could find in Uncharted 2 & 3 (100).
Getting that platinum trophy is going to take a while I guess. I can't wait to play it![]()
If someone plays a multiplayer game for 100 hours is it too long?
I don't know, is there a clear goal they need to reach to be able to "finish" the game, and it takes them a hundred hours? That's a terrible argument and we both know it.
If someone is finishing the Witcher 3 in 50 hours is it too long?
The perception of time is relative. If you find something boring the time feels goes slower if it is enjoyable then the time flies by.
Maybe the reviewer is using the too long words to describe his feeling about boring parts that could be left out. But then the real complaint is not about the time needed to finish the game. imho

I think GB said it best:Reading through these reviews... sounds like it sets a whole new benchmark for action/adventure game campaigns with what seems like an unanimous opinion of it having the perfect and most rewarding ending. Comparisons to Ocarina of Time and Grand Theft Auto 3 regarding its importance.
.The jump in quality from Uncharted 3 to 4 is similar to the ways the second entry trounced the original. Its still the same Nathan Drake partaking in the same ludicrous, death-defying action as before, but everything is done with so much more panache. I havent gone into detail about the specifics of the setpiece moments, as Id hate to rob readers of the Oh, WOW feeling that I had so many times during my dozen-plus hours with the campaign. There was a steady stream of moments that I loved, from insane action sequences that literally dropped my jaw to somber storyline moments in between bombastic firefights. Uncharted 4 isnt a perfect game...it runs a couple of chapters too long, some of the puzzles feel uninspired, and its multiplayer component is serviceable but largely forgettable. Those nitpicks are in no way significant enough for me to consider A Thiefs End as anything but the best entry in the Uncharted franchise, though. Its not even just the best Uncharted game. This is one of the most fully-realized action campaigns of all time, and it sets a new bar of quality for whats possible in the genre

OH YES. I didn't get to review Uncharted 4, but I did at least score my copy five days early thanks to my trusty local video game store! They even stayed open 15 minutes past closing time because I was in a screening of Captain America: Civil War when they called and the movie ended too late for me to get there before closing. They're the best. <3
I CAN'T BELIEVE UNCHARTED 4 IS FINALLY HERE AND I'M ABOUT TO PLAY IT. One of my top three most-anticipated games of 2016 to be sure, alongside Final Fantasy XV and Rhythm Heaven Megamix. See ya'll on the other side.

The only time I consider a game to be too long, is when I hoping for it to end, if that doesn't happen it wasn't too long for me.
Great reviews, really looking forward to what looks like an amazing game.
I better finish off Uncharted 3 this weekend. I just started it the other day and I'm enjoying it so far(only up to Chapter 4).

Do you know what would be sublime? If ND put out a vid of all the actors thanking their fans for the many years of support, but they use their in game characters to do it.
Not me, Amazon aren't dispatching mine till Monday. Don't let me down again Amazon!
Any UK pre-orderers had theirs dispatched? I saw a couple of people posting that Game had dispatched theirs? Waiting on a SimplyGames order, if they're true to their word they're not posting til Monday.

Strange, Amazon UK says they're dispatching mine tomorrow.
Though it's the Special Edition.

Hmm, interesting that Amazon also seem bound by the Monday dispatch thing, but Game seem to be ignoring it. Unless that's just usual Amazon policy to post the day before for pre-orders.
Beware of tenosynovitis.Arggghhh the wait!!! Can any Gaffer comment on masturbation marathons being a viable means to kill time??????
Complaining that the game is too long? Fools. At least, find some real negatives.
Where did you order from if you don't mind me asking?Had my dispatch email, so hope it arrives today or tomorrow.
