I wouldn't read this if you don't want spoilers. I don't know if I'm overly sensitive to this stuff or reviewers are just plain stupid. A bit of both maybe. I now know something about the beginning of the game I didn't know. That's a spoiler to me.

Hmm I probably should have skim read it first before posting but Im not reading any reviews as I don't want to risk it myself, my bad.

Arggghhh the wait!!! Can any Gaffer comment on masturbation marathons being a viable means to kill time??????

Don't do it! In fact cut masturbation altogether. It's addictive with tons of psycological and physical effects. You'll destroy your penis sensitivity and will have trouble with normal sex.It will kill your social skills.

For me, a great single-player story-driven game is almost never too long. In a film, there is a natural limit: you can't just sit in the cinema for 6 hours. But a game you can always put down and pick up the next day. A feeling I LOVE is when it feels like the game is close to ending, and then suddenly you enter an amazing new area and suddenly realize you've got another huge chunk full of gameplay left. This happens all too rarely, unfortunately.

An important predicate for this is that the game needs to be good. If the game is only okay, making it longer doesn't help matters.

The reverse happens all the time, sadly. "Wait... that's it?" after waiting for years... it sucks. I think Uncharted 3 had this; not because it was particularly short, but because, like, the first half was a linear walk-a-thon/run-a-thon (Syria section excepted).

@the bolded: YES, and from what I'm reading, I think it's going to happen with Uncharted 4!

I love chapter 23/24 in Uncharted 2. When it feels like the game's about to wrap up, then BANG chapter 25 then BANG chapter 26

So great.

So guys, I don't want to read any reviews (don't want to be spoiled) but are there any mentions surrounding the best difficulty to start the game on?

Pretty much every gaffer who got it early has said normal is best to start on, hard can be frustrating and you'll barely ever get to use the rope swing mechanic.

I'm pretty sure the ending has been spoiled for me(by a fucking YouTube comment last week, but I didn't verify and I'm still hoping it's false for numerous reasons). Oh well I'm still hyped even though I won't like it if true.

Welp, after seeing Civil War I have absolutely no faith in the soundtrack. They should have did whatever it would have taken to get Greg Edmonson back because Henry Jackman is boring as fuck.

Is there a reason they didn't use Greg Edmonson, he did all the others didn't he?

I've had so much spoilt now that I'm really disappointed in myself. I said about 6 frigin' times 'I'm out' but then continued to read threads like an idiot. I wanted to be a part of the run in so much though.

Normal is still meant be quite tough according to Colin Moriarty. I'm gonna do normal and then replay it on C

I think it's legitimate thing to discuss. Keeping the player gripped for 15 hours is a tough ask. I though Uncharted 2 ran an hour too long honestly. NeoGAF is not representative of the common gamer, most players don't finish games. While others want to squeeze as much time out of a title as possible.

I agree here. It's quite common for games to outstay their welcome for me, and is a fair criticism. I'd say UC2 was on the borderline of just right and a little too long. It ended just as I was starting to feel like I had my fill. Worst offenders for me are the Assassin's Creed games though. I've not finished a single one because they seem to go on for ever.

Sounds like ND got it right here though, and I do think its a minor criticism.

I mean you've been railing against spoilers for roughly a week. Reviews have been notorious for maybe slipping in details one might not want to know. If you want to avoid spoilers hype and review threads/ the Internet are the last places to be.

Thanks for your professional advice. No masturbation for me then.
Ok, plan b, I will just take a handful of sleeping pills and sleep till Thursday...this should work.

Am I getting crazy or are posts being removed and then being added back in this thread?

I swear the postcount of this thread is like a rollercoaster.

Didn't expect a serious reply to that post, but yeah... what this man says (except the pay a woman part). It's actually a fairly underestimated issue.

You might have trouble stopping after you get the game, though.

The game is cut-scene heavy, isn't it, so I don't need to have both hands on my controller the whole time? Plus, there are some fap-worthy chars in UC!

That comes over as a really odd remark in light of what you're replying to. What part of my humility are you overlooking?

5/5 is the same as a 10/10, right?

Right?

This is at least the second time you've made a post like this in the last week... not sure if srs

Lol, and it's the second time that you're reading it wrong.
Of course it's the same...

You should seriously check your sarcasm detector. ;)

Seriously, the last three big Uncharted threads have been completely throwing my sarcasm detector for a loop. This is like the third or fourth time I've misinterpreted!

This is how I feel:

A 5/5 is a perfect 10 at heart.

It’s still a ND game, if you are familiar with gaming, hard is probably your best best for some challenge while not being too crazy your first play-through.

If you aren’t good at shooters, start on normal.
