It's half twelve and the postman hasn't been yet. I don't think I'm playing this today.

I'll never forgive you Royal Mail, you shower of bastards you.

My post arrived... and there was no Uncharted 4 with it. I hate you Royal Mail.

The crying i'm seeing over that IGN 8.8 is laughable man. What world are we in when an 8 point fucking 8 is bad. People would hate me if I reviewed games professionally.

Stop manufacturing a narrative people. It's the 'reasons' for that score people have been discussing.

My friend told me that with all the stolen copies in the UK, you can get banned for playing it early. He was probably just fucking with me. I'll risk it.

This close to launch they wouldn't do something like that (I doubt they ever would), probably 10s of thousands of copies in the wild now.

I strongly disagree with this line of thinking, simply because reviews are made by gamers like us. They don't have a "degree in videogames" that sets their opinions apart from ours, and i actually believe that many people on forums have more experience or are able to judge games better than many reviewers. That's why i don't care about MC, but only about reviews from website i have reasons to trust, and those of friends who know their shit (and of course mine). An hypotetical GAFCritic for PS/Nintendo/Xbox/PC games would have the exact same weight as Metacritic.

An impression from a gaf member still counts as a review. Metacritic is there, easy and accessible, for people who don't have an access to a gaf account (or more likely, don't have any interest in scouring forum posts for impressions on a game.)

And exactly, these game reviewers are, at the end of the day, just gamers like us. Some gamers may hate a particular game, some gamers may like said game. Some are well-versed in a particular genre, others are just curious beginners who are wetting their toes. It's the same thing with reviewers. Metacritic is just there to group these thoughts together and subsequently, uses an aggregate score to reflect them.

Great reviews. I'm not the biggest Uncharted fan (I personally think Uncharted 1 is a borderline turd and has aged fucking woefully, Uncharted 3 is average at best, but Uncharted 2 is a real gem), but I'll still grab this day one. I like the presentation, and I'm interested to see what Naughty Dog has learned over the years, particularly from developing The Last of Us, the evolution of the Uncharted series, and where other developers have produced far superior shooting. I'm hoping/believing the grappling mechanic and more open encounter zones will spice up the combat in a way that gives the series a much needed kick in the pants for my taste.

Won't be playing multiplayer, but I'm also happy to see the campaign is quite long. Keen to see the story too. I don't really think the series has very good stories, so much as great character scripts.

But those "reasons" are the reviewer's thoughts/opinions on the game. The IGN review did not like the shooting as much as some on the impressions board and the pacing of the game felt too streched. Seem like complete valid reasons to give it a still outstanding score of 8.8. No one on their right mind would complain.

People can discuss whether those reasons are valid for them or not, as long as it's done respectfully and in a mature way.

They were stolen a couple of weeks back, anyway people shouldn't be banned from playing a game early, if they don't want people to play games early then they should stop it via the PSN account but not allowing the game from connecting and updating, they know what games you have got thus know if you are playing it early so stop the update instead of, Ooo this person is playing a game a few days before the release date lets ban this players entire account, stopping them from playing anything on their console, banning people for this is so dam stupid it is beyond words.

Anyone who played the game: can you tell me if like in U3, if you take a little time to solve a puzzle, Sully or Sam start throwing "tips"?

I really hated it in U3.

I always thought you were safe when playing an early copy as long as you don't stream or upload content and Sony finds out, and even then they'll probably only ban your Twitch account temporarily and not ever find out what you've uploaded on social networks.

I only counted main chapters for those series (initially i was going to use 3D games only because the 2D ones were a bit tricky to find for some series, had to use the GBA remakes for ALTTP, SMW and SMW2YI), so TH and ST (and PH, which has 90 on MC and i didn't count that either) didn't fit because they are spin-offs of ALBW and WW. Forgot about Other M, but to be fair, it's not a game internally developed by Nintendo (Team Ninja made it).

Sadly, i have to agree about Valve. It's a shame that they're mostly focused on Steam and DOTA2, because when they make a new game it's usually very good (and i say this despite not liking Portal 2 that much, but i can still see its qualities).

Hopefully Bioware will deliver with Andromeda.

Ah in that case I see what you meant. That's right, Other M wasn't internally developed.

As for valve, I'm on the same page as you. I mean, I'm sure their Dota game is adored by a lot of people, though it's not my kind of game at all. I would love for them to have more story driven first person games like their Half Life games or even something all new. Unfortunately it seems like on the software end, their games resemble free to play only at the moment.

High hopes for Andromeda - it's a bug chance to rebuild the ME series after ME3's very dissatisfying ending.

Nope :( AT least the steelbook has none.

Played 3 chapters and the beginning is... boring in comparison to 1-3 IMO. But at ch2 things get really cool :D
So it's not a sticker, or it is but it won't come off without ruining the package?

Because I will find a way to take that sucker off even if it takes me to Uncharted 5's release.... if I can move my fingers in that frozen hell.

I'm not watching any more videos, I've been careful to only watch things that I've already seen in the trailers but I'm stopping now.

Watching the videos makes me think of The Last of Us and the opportunities they'll the next game now that this is out. I'm already thinking that it has potential to have a higher average review score than this.

Unfortunatly it's not a sticker but a print. Maybe photoshop guys can create a sticker to hide it ^^

UC collection had the same print :(. Too bad they didn't (or couldn't?) put a sticker on it. Would look so much better without the ugly ass USK logo.

Exactly. Nothing wrong with questioning a review- that's what this thread is for.

I think the backlash to this review has been building a long time. I won't go into specifics but let's just say IGN has been harder than the average critic on PS4 exclusives, and people might be starting to wonder what's up.

Still didn't finish my first playthrough of Dark Souls III, but couldn't resist and preordered it >_<

This will take me forever.

GTA (at least since III) crushes them both.

97 (III) - 95 (VC) - 95 (SA) - 98 (IV) - 97 (V)
IV being at 98 is a joke, that game shit the bed big time after the great PS2 trillogy.

Anyway I can't wait for the 10th!! So close now! I saw an advertisement for Uncharted before Captain America, that was so awesome!

Alright without spoilers..

-the opening is great, I really like how it was set up
-So far voice acting is top notch like always
-Gunplay is Fantastic, huge step up from previous entries

That's all I can say for now not really far ahead and taking it really slow.
