A friend of mine just bought a copy. I would pick it up but I got stupid midterms next week, if I get the game I'm sure to fail my exams lol, and I don't want that. Game's reasonably priced here in the gray market, about $50 I'd say.
Edit: I'm located in Peru in case anyone wonders.

The jungle demo reveal level is honestly one of the best combat encounters in a third person shooter period. The level design is just sublime, and you feel like a champion jumping from platforms, rope swinging around like spiderman, going in and out of stealth, flanking etc, all completely fluidly. It's liberating. It's platforming meets stealth, meets third person shooter, realised perfectly. Only negative is that it doesn't last long enough and is too easy, at least on Normal anyway.

Got lucky here in Switzerland, picked it up this afternoon.
Shop even advertised that they already have Uncharted!

Anyway, came home after a party, currently 2 a.m. and just popped it in. Played for about 30 minutes.

Jaws will be dropped. The writing is stellar so far!

I hope the troll is a gamestop employee so we can get more bumps for GS threads.

"Uncharted 4, huh? Yeah I didnt play it cuz I didnt wanna see Drake die at the end. You enjoy it though! BTW do you want the $3 bullshit insurance policy we like to pawn off on people? What about a Game Informer subscription? Anything else you wanna pre-order today with your free Gamestop Power-Up Rewards card"

So if I preordered the game before Amazon Prime started offering the discount, is there any way to get the discount retroactively applied?

Yes just contact customer support. Or you could just cancel and pre-order it again..don't do that if you ordered the Libertalia edition though.

It's the Libertalia Edition yes :( I'll give it a shot.

Just contacted them but now I'm really nervous about it because I had a similar situation with my GameStop preorder of the Post Pandemic Edition of The Last of Us, and when I contacted their customer service, they totally misunderstood my question and just straight up cancelled my order and I was never able to get the PPE of the game. I really hope something similar doesn't happen with this now as I've had it preordered since the day it went live.

Cross-post - my spoiler-free impressions from that other thread.

It's really something, folks. 9 or 10/10 average seems on-point.

Feels to me like the next step in action adventure games, following on from Half-Life 2, FEAR, Resident Evil 4, Uncharted 2/TLoU, etc.

I'm like six or seven hours in now. And I'm nowhere near halfway (judging by chapter count).

- the combat is utterly phenomenal. Shooting feels great, shots landing feels great, getting shot feels great, reloading feels great, thumping into cover feels great.
- the whole thing is super responsive. Like practically MGSV level. But I actually prefer it to MGSV because there's character and personality and quirk to every frame of animation - MGSV's movements felt a bit sterile (it's obviously a military-focused game, so probably that)
- and talking of animations... What the fuck. There are thousands upon thousands of animations added for any possible tiny instance - grabbing a ledge from a funny angle, trying to punch a guy who's behind a doorframe, getting grabbed from behind while you have someone up against a wall, etc etc
- graphically and in terms of animation it's not perfect, it's just brilliant, but that doesn't matter, because the gameplay is so good it would be fine even with Uncharted 2/3 graphics
- levels are super long. And brilliant minute by minute. So well designed, the platforming feels fun and responsive, the climbing is near-perfect, hugely improved, the spaces are far larger and there are multiple routes built into even small arenas/areas
- but it's well-paced, even though it's seemingly the longest game yet. I haven't been bored once yet, and I'm 7 hours in. The story stuff is brilliantly handled and there are loads of great moments they haven't shown in any trailers
- remember those brawls in Uncharted 3 which were sort of OK but also kinda easy and flawed? They are fucking brilliant in Uncharted 4. Especially if you're someone who's into good animation and responsiveness

Can't wait to get back to it. Incredible stuff.

Also who the heck said this wasn't funny in comparison with UC2. This is just as funny. In a more witty, Frasier-esque way, but equally funny. I've had a bunch of good belly laughs already, and I'm on chapter 8 or 9.

Edit: oh and the writing seems excellent and on-point, as always. Can't really fault it yet

edit edit: if I had to think of a complaint so far it would be that the opening chapters probably will be a pain to get through on subsequent playthroughs. They're brilliant on first playthrough, but I can imagine returning to them will just be OK, or tiring if you're keen to progress. Much like the Istanbul Museum from UC2. Finding the treasures and exploring will be fun but sometimes you need a break from that.

Yes. I started on Hard, but was nearly dying in the very first gunfight, so I bumped it to Normal.

Disclaimer: I'm one of those people who believes Uncharted 2 doesn't get good until you play it on Crushing, and I recommend Hard at least for all the games – but honestly I'd recomend Normal for this game. The game feels so smooth and seamless on Normal - it's really satisfying.

Plus Hard/Crushing have new enemy layouts/numbers, so you can save a freshened-up playthrough for once you've finished it once with the bog-standard layouts :)

They'll apply the discount when the game ships, you don't have to cancel.

Aw damn. Well I already contacted them anyway. I didn't cancel, wasn't about to risk that, now I'll just have to trust that Amazon's CS is better than GameStops and that they won't just cancel the order for no reason.

US.

Did US preloading not start yet? On PSN it says preloading starts on May 7th. Which is now. Maybe it's just not gone up yet?

I thought it had gone up too, because I remember seeing it this morning. Thing is, I think I was half asleep and actually just saw the android app update (the Uncharted 4 one).

Mhh, this seems to kinda blow up, could finally strengthen the first party lineup.

I kinda had the feeling it would go the other way as from the first trailers (didn't watch the later stuff to not spoil the set pieces which seemed to be the most redeeming thing left for me at that time) it seemed like standard Uncharted and that could have resulted in fatigue at this point. At least for me as my reaction to the announcement was "of course, but meh, we had now 3(4) of these games within a short time and TLOU is better anyway".

To hear that people are so positive about it and that the formula seems to be shaken up enough is wonderful to hear. Also, 17 hours of Uncharted-like AAA quality and production values sounds amazing, didn't expect that at all. That's like double of the previous games?

Double Uncharted 1 and 3, almost double Uncharted 2, and about the same as The Last of Us, yeah.

My plan was to play Paragon and Overwatch's betas the whole weekend... just played two matches of Paragon today and got bored... I feel like I'm in life support.
At least tomorrow I'll be excited playing the new Radiohead album and new episodes of Game of Thrones and Penny Dreadful but tonight, monday and tuesday at work are going to be so hard...

Absolutely loving the game man.

Visuals are astonishing, especially the backgrounds. The attention to detail is staggering.

I felt more emotionally vested in the game in 5 minutes than I did the entirety of Quantum Break.

The acting is superb. Controls are immediately intuitive and familiar and so far, the game is a joy to play.

Yeah, almost. UC3 is 9 hours according to howlongtobeat.
