I'm assuming you meant 'there are no stakes unless someone dies'
And yes, CW was beyond safe. As awesome as the action scenes were, there was little weight to any of it.
And because the MCU has turned into this gigantic monolith of entertainment, I feel that there is very little reason to take chances anymore.
so apparently Jubileedoesn't use her powers
bye
why is she in the movie?
I want Marvel to have the rights back simply for a more faithful adaptation of the characters. Fox movies are ok, but could be so much better.
Nope, I sure don't.
It's not a great superhero movie.
It's a pretty decent X-Men film, though.
And yeah, I said earlier upthread, but it's hard as hell not to see this movie, the direction it points, and think Kinberg & Co. aren't trying to get Jim Lee Animated X-Men '92 up on the big screen.
I dunno what it says about that version of the X-Men that film critics seem not all that happy to be pointed in that direction, though.
(the film being pretty sloppy probably doesn't help, though)
She's okay.

cause 90s accurate outfit
along with Pyslocke 90s accurate outfit
92 looms
Yes, cowardice.
I felt in in Civil War, and it was probably my biggest complaint- I don't have any faith that the universe can take any chances with their characters anymore. Everyone feels invincible and it detracts from the experience.
There is nothing relatable about the MCU characters that doesn't feel manufactured and rote; completely lacking in any real emotional depth. All of it set up for the next film to sell.
I sincerely don't see how people can't find the identifiable emotions in a film like DOFP, but say they exist in the MCU.
That's why I'm convinced the debate on the comic book genre is utterly pointless; people will see what they want to see, based on bias or what characters they enjoy seeing more. It has very little to do with what films are better written and directed.
lol why is she even there then?

I will never get the "I want a more faithful adaptation of the characters" argument
did you watch Xmen 1 and 2?
cast is perfect. character interpretations are almost note for note their comic book counterpart
wolverine vs cyclops. rogue storyline. it's fucking all there, and it's done totally great
people see black costumes and go "oh bad representation"
lol no. those 2 first films are XMEN as fuck. they're all there.
Oh god, why? At this point just go forward in time and make a new flick with the original team.
Is she the Nubian queen? Any hints of that at all?
why is she in the movie?
The MCU hate is so salty.
Everyone sees what Xavier's arc was in DOFP, it's just not any deeper than most other character arcs in other CBMs.
DOFP is more of a character study than any MCU film and more than most other films in the genre. People don't seem to get this.
What was safe about Civil War? I'm genuinely asking because I don't even know what most people are referring to when they talk about movies being safe or taking risks.I'm assuming you meant 'there are no stakes unless someone dies'

So did X2 just not happen or?
MCU doesnt even have anything to do with this movie nor this thread. It's just a salty reflex at this point whenever someone doesn't like a film outside of the MCU for someone to randomly throw in a "Well the MCU sucks so there!"
Its just as annoying as the "Give the rights to Disney" crap. I wish it was bannable. Just diverts the threads for multiple pages on end.

That's exactly what Jim Lee Animated X-Men would be, though.
Into the 90s. Original (ish) team. New movie.

Geez....
Also no x-men in MCU, let get Fantastic 4 instead, that's the real money maker.

What? X1 and 2 are the least X-Men movies about the X-Men ever made, and that includes Wolverine Origins.

if someone doesn't die its safe
So basically the only scene you watched in X2 was the very last shot with the subtle suggestion of the phoenix?
I do think the way they had the Phoenix appear in the post-credits sequence in X2 was...oh, wait...no...
