Just to apply a little perspective with regards to this board specifically and its reception of the X-Movies:

As per the 2015 "Greatest Superhero Movies of All Time" poll conducted by inm8num2 last March:

Out of the 75 movies that were actually ranked (meaning they appeared somewhere in a user's personal Top 10)

#7) X2: X-Men United
#13) X-Men: Days of Future Past
#17) X-Men: First Class
#59) X-Men

Neither Wolverine movie, nor X-Men: The Last Stand was ranked.

It's probably a safe bet that Deadpool will find itself in the top 10 somewhere when the 2016 voting is done (I think he said September? I dunno.)

But still - that's GAF consensus (such as it is) deciding three X-films deserve spots in the top 20.

Of course, the consensus is an ever-shifting thing. Thanks to the Batman v. Superman review thread, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see both Iron Man 3 and Captain America: The First Avenger move up in their rankings—Iron Man 3 is currently #36, behind Return of the Joker, Man of Steel, and Spider-Man 3, Cap 1 is at #23, behind Blade II and The Dark Knight Rises.

Don't forget all of a sudden since BvsS came out Batman Forever and Batman and Robin are now good movies so I expect one of those in the top 20.

When I saw those poll results...man I want to say I was surprised, but the hyperbole of the internet is no surprise

A large number of people strenuously disagreeing with you isn't evidence of hyperbole. It just means you have a different take.

It's not a conspiracy or anything.

I have to disagree. I mean, It's not like a big deal or anything, but I also don't think everyone's vote in threads like that are altruistic either, same for similar type of threads. Could be something as innocuous like "I kind of liked that movie but no one is voting for it, its not in my top three but I will vote for it anyways to get it in the list" or the simple "i'm going to troll this poll and make this awful movie part of the list" Hyperbole and internet are not foreign to each other.

I voted for Thor 2.

I liked Thor 2, I think it gets too much hate but, whatever. I wouldn't have voted for it because its not in my top three or five.

But saying Batman V Superman is a worse movie than Batman and Robin? Start to think that that's just fools caught in they feelings

Why is Colossus eatting? When he is transformed he doesn't have any internal organs, only some weird energy that sustains him

Wait, what are you talking about? I was talking about the stupid poll between BvS and Batman and Robin!

The superhero movie poll being quoted? It's late, I can't tell if you are messing with me or not.

It's gonna be weird when this happens to the MCU.

There are PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEENTY of people that already try this with the MCU. The first thing you need to do is group. Which is why they say it has a 'formula' or that they are 'all the same'. After that they just say the movie sucks, which applies to the entirety if they are all the same lmao.

Sure the same could be applied to certain MCU films that try that, but something like Avengers holds up far better than DoFP. AoU falls more victim to this, as does DoFP, as does BvS. And for the record, I for all it's faults, AoU still is the most well balanced of the 3.

Yep. Very happy to disagree with you completely.

Keep your opinion on those films, and I'll keep mine.

I honestly think DOFP holds up much better than Avengers.

Double Toasted gave it a Rental.

aiite I'm out then. I'm not really a fan of bad X-Men movies. Most of them have been disappointing to me and nothing in the trailers leading up to this make me think this would be any different. In a rare turn of events, it appears the trailer actually accurately tells us just how bad this movie really is.

ERMYGERD!
It's funny how the best X-Men movie is Deadpool, and is the highest grossing even with being faithful to the source material. Unlike whatever the hell Singer puts out.

I really enjoyed DOFP but I really want the X-Men to go Deadpool's direction (again not the R rating but more being faithful to the material).

I think what helped Deadpool's success even more was how they understood the characters. Where Snyder demonstrates how much he loves comics by recreates the panels, Tim Miller and Ryan Reynolds took Deadpool and Colossus, did their own thing with it while staying true to what that character is about.

Yep, and Singer just does whatever he wants to suit a scene.

Yeah the Quicksilver scene in DOFP was cool but that was it for Pietro in that one movie.

It wasn't at the end of our screening, but apparently there will be a post-credits stinger at the end of Apocalypse.

Simon Kinberg said:
It’s a nod toward potentially a lot of different movies. I mean certainly the Wolverine movie is related to what happens at the end of it, but there’s also another character that’s introduced, at least in name, in the tag and he could show up in any host of different X-Men films. Maybe a Gambit movie, maybe another X-Men movie.

This made me chuckle.

AOU is not better balanced than DOFP. Also after rewatching Avengers it really doesn't hold up that much. The only reason people give it high praise is due to just having all the avengers together on the big screen for the first time. Otherwise I just consider it a good movie than a actual great one.

Heck I put GOTG and Winter Soldier above it. I even found Iron Man 3 more enjoyable after rewatching it a few times.

Avengers holds up great, bro!

But yeah, AoU isn't better balanced than DoFP. The script is less dumb though (but arguably more annoying because of quips).

Heck I put GOTG and Winter Soldier above it.

That's not an unpopular opinion at all :p

U ARE FIGHTING A GOD

FORGET EVERYTHING YOU THINK YOU KNOW

I'm still holding out hope, but good god man

Haha, I thought you were quoting Dr. Strange for a moment. :p

Yo, those Apocalypse lines are next level cheesy, though.

I hope he's some level of badass in the actual film, because he certainly doesn't look the part.

Deadpool source material sucks compared to X-Men's source material (throughout the decades).

But I guess Deadpool was an easier movie to make. While in X-Men they had 10 or so characters to juggle.

X-men films utterly fail in being ensemble films, and how many chances have they had to perfect them and develop more then 4 characters in a cast of many more, a good chunk of whom appear in multiple films.

Avengers holds up and AoU>>DoFP
