Has there been any outcry from religious groups about God actually being in the show now? Or did they all write the show off ages ago?

The show has repeatedly made fun of religion and Christianity in the past, so I imagine those people likely wrote it off a long time ago.

Just saw it. Pretty good. I think in general these past couple of seasons have been really good, but I still consider it basically fan fiction after season 5. Maybe it's nostalgia, but everything about the first 5 seasons were masterfully put together culminating with the Lucifer plot. I don't feel like that is the case now.
For example, Amara's powers seem very inconsistent. Dean and Crowley said they could have killed her when she was still girl. The 'smiting' from Heaven didn't kill her, but it still injured herself pretty bad and only a witch could revive her? Also, the hands of God were supposed to be enough to take her out, but now God himself can't do it easily.
I try not to think of these things too hard as I generally think it's been good, but still doesn't match the Season 4-5 overarching plot.

I'm pretty sure the lore, as well as what everyone else said, is just flat out wrong on this one. If God says she cannot be killed, she cannot be killed.
My feeling is that God is also limiting His own power for whatever reason.

There's never been any concrete lore on how to gank her. Everyone's been spitballing ideas. They have no idea how to actually deal with Amara.
Dean flat out can't kill Amara. She has that wierd link with him.
Crowley could've killed her had he known her true nature... And wasn't stupidly arrogant.
God couldn't pull it off the first time. No reason to expect him to just be able to nuke her whenever he wants.
The smiting hurt her. That doesn't necessarily mean she was really vulnerable. The witch only sped up her healing a little.
It's better thought out than you make it.

Yeah, with how much Amara hates him she'd definitely kill him if she could, the fact that he's certain she will just lock him away pretty much implies that's all she can hope to do.
Another fantastic episode. Does god really need to ask where the bathroom is though?

Last cuple of episodes have been incredible. Just amazing, was ever so slightly disappointed that Chuck was God but they handled it well and I'm loving how detached he comes across to most things.

I got to imagine the season will end with him being trapped, but season 12 is about freeing him (or at least the finale will have it). Save for season 5, every season has ended with them making it worse significantly worse some how.
It's also possible they will end this season with wrapping up the God/demons/angel/heaven plotline some how and next season will just focus on them being hunters again (if it ends up being the last season), but I doubt that would be the case.

They're gonna need a strong over arching story for them to just go back to being hunters. Because the last time they were really closest to being just hunters was season 1, even there we had the yellow eyes story / finding their father so they took jobs he had written about in his journal.
I guess you could argue season 2 was also about them being just hunters for the first half. But season 3 was when the demon / hell stuff started kicking in and then from season 4 onward angels have been major players.
Honestly I'd love it if they just went back to being hunters but that's really hard to do at this point because sam and dean have so many ways of killing things now it's crazy.
The reason the knife was necessary to the show in the first place was because demons went from being a rare occurrence where they had to set up the devil's trap carefully and then use an exorcism to the main villains.
If you wanna make em go back to being hunters I feel like you have to take almost everything away from them, like the bunker, their connection with angels, the knife, the colt (i dont even know where the colt is honestly) and just put them back in the impala with their salt shotguns and their trunk of stuff and give them some kind of incentive to track down monsters beyond "this is the job".
The entire USA is "within driving distance" on this show.
"Hey Dean, something's weird's going on in Flordia."
Next scene, they're pulling up to a police station in Flordia.
Didn't Chuck say "you don't want to know where this has been this whole time"?
Since it was dropped into a trash can, I'm guessing it was in a landfill.

Yes, but when you're God or His equal, you don't have to stay in America. TSA has no jurisdiction over omnipotence.
But they love him so much there.
And it has lots of convenient, empty warehouses and factories.
That sequence kind of confused me. Amara wanted God to face her, but she warded herself against him? Or was Chuck lying about that? But if he was, why did he still want Dean and Sam to find her? Was he seeing if they could do it?
Could be Amara forgot she's warded against him.
Could be he just casually avoids his problems and wants others to solve them for him.
Could be sloppy writing.

I actually loved seeing God on the show, personally. I feel Chuck does an awesome job, and seeing them portray him as a pretty laid back guy is pretty awesome.

Chuck was just lying. She was torturing Lucifer to draw God out. I'm sure that was intentionally making a lotta noise.

I got the impression he was stalling given once they meet up things are gonna go sideways.
Also I think he's still feeling guilty for locking her away. Probably feels like he deserves a good stomping even if he's not looking forward to it.
Chuck's not a pretty laid back guy. He's a guy trying to give the impression that he's pretty laid back. You can see it in the eyes.
We've all met that person.

Finally caught up on this show, was about 6 episodes behind.
The Chuck reveal episode was really fantastic. Quite possibly my favorite ep in the past 6 seasons. I think they really missed an opportunity to make that the season finale though.
That ending with him singing and reviving the whole town and meeting the Winchesters was just really, really powerful.
Then the episode after kinda took away all that gravity with Chuck sitting there in his boxers lying about not being able to find his sis.
I already have 3 outcomes in my head for this storyline, with the most likely one of him locking he and his sis in the "safe space" bar for eternity, with mankind left to deal with stuff on its own.
Either way, the thread title is no lie, this season has been really great. Even some of the MoTW episodes.

I agree, I have a feeling this is what will happen.
I am going with, Amara takes over Dean and God has to take over Sam. Then the outcome we saw a couple years back will happen with the roles reversed.

I loved Charlie and was sad when she was killed off, also thought her death was lazy and cheap. But - bringing her back from the dead would make her death even cheaper.
I picture her currently relaxing in heaven, reading comic books and playing video games. I think she's fine where she is.
