Ging vs Chorollo would be a good match I think. Both are pretty strategic and creative.
Ultra numb: it was said wasn't it that Ging is one of the top 5 nen users in the world.
Ging and Chrollo actually have fairly similar abilities so far as we've seen, in fact Ging might have the advantage of Chrollo in using other peoples Nen's as there is a lot of restrictions and rules over how Chrollo can steal and use other people's Nen whereas Ging just needs to be hit by an attack once and watch a person use it before he can start to mimic it. Each has their own benefits and set backs but it seems like the simpler ability of Ging would be more effective as he doesn't have to bother with all the crazy rules Chrollo does.
Ging specifically said this wasn't an ability. It's just a natural talent to figure out how a physical Nen ability might work and replicate it.
Yeah, it was described as an intuitive thing with Ging and physical Nen striking techniques. Which is actually more impressive than it being an ability IMO. Ging is a true Nen master, it's kind of insane.
That was why I said as far as we know. The fact that Ging can do this and its not his actual ability is actually a little more impressive than what Chrollo can do as his Nen is based entirely around that. For all we known Ging's actual nen powers might be even crazier and more powerful.

I'll be surprised if Ging isn't an Enhancer or Specialist.
An Enhancer is objectively the best category from a balance stand-point. Its the only category to have above 50% mastery potential in every other normal type. So there's that.
And obviously Specialists can have really broken, unique weird powers.

I'm thinking Enhancer. I just get the feeling from GIng that he is an immense physical threat. And having 50% Nen potential in Emitter and Transmitter abilities would make him very well rounded in combat. I just know this man has a fucking Emitter Spirit Gun.
Ging's mastery of Nen would probably make a 50% Emitter attack be pretty damn effective.
So random question but what is the actual deal with the Dark Continent. I realize its a mysterious place where there are all kinds of horrors as well as amazing resources and also where the Chimera Ants and other creatures came from but what is it physically and in the context of the "world" humanity lives in.
Maps and pictures depict our "world" as inside a much larger ocean than what we were first shown surrounded by the Dark Continent on all sides. Is it actually a physical place surrounding the world signifying that the planet HxH takes on is actually far far larger than we were expecting or is something a little less than that. Like does it surround us in the metaphysical sense and that actually reaching it requires something other than just physical travel by boat but sort of passing into another realm type of thing?
Maybe its been explained more in the manga or an interview with Togashi but I was always curious. I mean does HxH actually take place on a spherical planet? Maybe the world is something else entirely.

I think it's kind of like the Gourmet World in Toriko, where the true-size of the world is insanely huge. The human world is simply a small part of a much larger planet.
It's just the rest of the planet.
I was more interested because of the fact that no one really mentions it till much much later in the series and no one in the general world seems to know a thing about it. Then again no one in the general public seems to know a thing about Nen and there are ton's of people using it in incredible elaborate manners all the time. There is an entire 250 story tower that is full of Nen users doing what should be "magic" to the majority of the viewers.

Wasn't it confirmed he is an emitter? That is why he could learn Leorio's ability as they are both emitters. When Nen was introduced it was explained that a user can learn abilities from their same category and the adjacent ones to a lesser extent, but not from the opposite side of the spectrum.
This principle was never shown in the series until that point. That is is why people think Gin has the power to copy abilities, but it's just the fact that emitters can learn from each other.
I would think at least some of Ging's ability would be related to his profession (archaeology) but I'm having trouble thinking of any. Will be interesting to see.

Well you also get abilities like Kurapika's Emperor Time which kind of break this rule to an extent. Not too mention Ging might be a specialist and the ability to mimic other people's powers might tie into his actual ability.

Also I assume there is no space travel and moon landing in the HxH universe because then the true appearance of the planet would be common knowledge
Which is funny considering that cell phones seem pretty prevalent in the HxH society so unless their tech doesn't need satellites there must be something floating around in space relaying signals. Then again they might just go,"there is a nen based solution"

I would actually enjoy if Togashi explained the world of HxH a bit more as there seem to be all these really weird things going on that are only partially mentioned and then never touched upon again or brought up for an entirely other context. Like the fact that Gon going on dates with all those older women who visitted Whale Island "looking for a good time" was such a strange notion to me. Why are grown ass women going to an island to date some mountain child? That and the fact the world is sort of based on ours but then again its not. The continents look like our world and there are places like Yorknew City but that might just be nods Togashi is giving to the reader like naming a character Pariston Hill.
Yeah that's how i read it from the beginning, he might not be the strongest raw power wise (or maybe he is who knows), but his sheer knowledge and talent in Nen manipulation makes him a monster.
I don't know, where do he falls in Hisoka's Personality Chart? He seems to perfectly into the Trasmuters category.

His Nen type hasn't been confirmed.
He was able to replicate Leorio's technique on pure Nen prowess alone, just raw skill in the art of Nen. Because he's able to replicate techniques like this and because he's a top 5 Nen user, I think its fair to say that he's close if not already maxed out his adjacent categories to their potential mastery. Because of this, getting hit by Leorio's attack gave him enough data to replicate the attack. Even if Ging was a Conjurer, which has the lowest mastery potential mastery for Emission, he'd be producing Emission techniques at 40% efficiency but because he's such a prodigy his 40% is probably more proficient than Leorio despite him having potential for 100% mastery - its important to remember he's been mostly focusing on medical school. Wouldn't be surprised if Leorio has reached only around 20% mastery in his category.
Anyone can learn techniques from any category, it doesn't matter how far away on the Spectrum other categories are. It just means the mastery potential is lesser and its more difficult. The exception is of course Specialisation. Don't quote me on this in particular but I'm pretty sure it was stated that only Manipulators and Conjurers have a small 1% chance to also become Specialists later in life, because they're the closest to Specialisation on the spectrum. Enhancers, Emitters and Transmuters can't become Specialists.
I'm pretty sure Hisoka ended up mentioning that his personality test can be unreliable.
Yeah but the way Togashi put it there makes me think it actually is reliable.

I think I saw the first one. It was weird...shotacon weird.

Yeah the one I saw occurs after Greed Island but before the Chimera Ant arc and its basically just and excuse to get a bunch of characters together and give them a reason RI fight. It occurs in the Arena tower as the floor masters of the top floors all meet to battle. Chrollo isn't there but it also isn't cannon.
Zushi and Wing are there as well as Biscuit and Netero. Leorio and Kurapika are both present as well but don't really meet up with Gon or Killua. Some decent fights occur as the baddies use a separate energy system called On that relies on grudges and making restrictions based on your grudge to gain a sort of super Nen. The main baddy basically has a demonic version of Neteros.
The idea of other forms of Nen was cool and some of the fights were good bit otherwise not a great movie.

RE: The movies- the first one was super shit. I haven't seen the second movie based purely on my impression of the first.
The first one wasn't good, it doesn't have any single element that made HxH good. It deals with Phantom Troupe's previous number 4 (before Hisoka). It has standard villain motivation, unclear nen rules, uncreative fight. There's a Chrollo clone vs real Hisoka "fight" in the movie, and if you compare it to this arc's fight it was beyond pitiful lol.

Pretty much, I would put it on the same level as Bleach Movies (though Bleach movies may be better then normal Bleach....) and nowhere near the level of the good One Piece movies.

People's personalities can change with age and experience though... which is probably why Togashi had Hisoka say that it's not always reliable.
I thought the thread got bumped cause of new chapter. lol.
I can only imagine how great this is for you guys. I only started the series when I heard it was coming back so all of it is 2016 for me. No long waiting so far.

What we're heard from Togashi sounds like he's doing a bit better. I have hopes that we'll get a decent run before another hiatus and future ones will be shorter.
Maybe that's me being a glutton for punishment, but gotta be optimistic.

It's been known that he had the chronic pain issue for awhile now, but a lot of people either didn't believe him, or weren't willing to give Togashi the benefit of doubt. Shame on all you non-believers!
