Nintendo NX mass production postpones to early 2017
Nintendo's next-generation game console, the Nintendo NX is scheduled to enter mass production in early 2017, delaying about half a year from the company's original mass production plan in the mid-2016. Sources from the related upstream supply chain pointed out that the delay was because Nintendo wished to enhance the game console's video-game/handheld-game-integrated gaming experience and add virtual reality (VR) function into the system to gain advantages in the upcoming video game and mobile game competitions.
The sources pointed out that the Nintendo NX combines the video gaming experience with the mobile gaming experience. The device features a 5- to 7-inch display, controller and joystick for users to play as a mobile gaming product, but it is also able to connect to a TV for users to play as a video game system. Nintendo is now planning to add VR function to the device to satisfy the popular trend in the gaming market.
This sounds like
It's a console
And also a handheld that can connect to TV
And a a a and also VR
It a also bakes muffins
"Nintendo originally planned to order 20 million units for the first year, but its shipment target is now only 9.5-10 million units.".
This doesn't make sense. Their expectations lowered by half?! PS4K and Scorpio is going to kill it, isn't it?
Samsung tier VR is cheap.
It could be in Jan or Feb and still launch in March as Kimishima said, no?
Maybe if they introduced an invite system for consumers to buy the console but I doubt it.
If this is true I would like to imagine Nintendo has some additional information on PS4 Neo, Xbox Scorpio and they decided to react. Upping the specs, change some things up etc.
If any of this has even a lick of truth to it, I wouldn't be surprised to see the home console version get canceled. They can't pin down what the device should be, they're just trying to chase trends at this point. They would be far better advised to just make a top notch handheld.
I don't think psvr is the same as ps move. No dev want to make games for ps move unless funded by Sony. On the other hand there are already many dev who actually want to make vr games for oculus/rift even with their small userbase. Psvr have the potential to have the biggest vr audience and I don't think thise pc vr developer will ignore psvr. They will at least try to port their games on psvr I think.I am all in for dedicated VR console. the way i see Sony VR is like their push to the Move. the technology is there but not many games will adopt it. if the console is VR ready from the box and VR required on the devs if they want to make games for the system, then it could be something big.
It has to be something with a controler they already announced Zelda U for it. Unless you can play the game with a touch screen.
As long as they get it right, delay all you want.
If this is true of course.
The amount of flip-(T)flop that a handheld transformed into a console capable of handling VR requires makes this rumour very unrealistic.
This console is DOA just like the Wii U. Sony and MS really took the hype from the console.

"Sony and Microsoft really took the hype from a machine we know nothing about with their machines they haven't announced. Good job Sony and Microsoft, you've done great work doing nothing. The machine I know nothing about is dead on arrival."
Well...mobile phones are driving VR devices now.
You don't need something very powerful at all to match the current VR entry level on the market today.
Oh, so nothing to see here.I find myself sceptical of this article
The correct statement would be that there is no market left for Nintendo.
Depends on what market they intend on penetrating and to what target audience. Their initiatives on mobile suggests they want to create a connection with that sort of audience; apart from Sony's half-measures on mobile this is different from what Playstation and Xbox is doing. We'll see once the NX is revealed whether there might be excitement for it. Until then these Nintendoomed-posts are beyond premature.
Hybrid? Hard to believe when Iwata said multiple time it wouldn't be one

These are the same people that said it would come out in 2016, I don't know why people still trust them.
