If Dead Rising 4 is a remake of the first game I'm kinda disappointed, I would rather a totally new Dead Rising game instead even though I loved the original the most.
I'm kinda surprised that they've chosen to remake it. It could still be a fantastic game though. Hopefully they unshackle the game from the limitations of the original.
The original game is almost 10 years old now. (Oh man I feel old).

My stomach just dropped thinking about that. Gears of War (1) is also ten. I remember when my friend and I were so excited in high school about both games... and now they're what feels like a lifetime old.

DR1 is a classic, but the loading times between the areas you're traversing so often feel even more disruptive than ever after having gotten used to seamless environments in almost everything in the almost nine years since its release. Even DR2 is annoying to go back to. It just makes the whole experience a bit more of a chore to play these days and kills the sense of urgency that comes from the constant pressure of their tightly-timed play. Especially since DR3, which does a fairly large exterior world with plenty of interor spaces all without loading pauses, I've wanted a return to the more urgent and desperate DR1 pace and that seamless experience would do so much more to enhance the gameplay than just what the newer visuals could bring. Of course, I kind of expect a new highwater mark to be set for the number of visible and interactable zombies on-screen at once.

Yup. A tragedy really, especially with the abundance of other mindless zombie games along those lines nowadays.
A tacked-on hardcore mode will do nothing to adequately replace how integral to the overall design a lot of the original (and since neutered) gameplay-related nuances were.
I'm so old games I was playing at school 25 years ago are getting remade.

The only one that wasn't exclusive was 2, and 1 did 1.8m on the 360 and 3 did ~1.6m on the Xbox One (~400k on PC), so it's a safe franchise to publish.

It had it's start as a launch window 360 exclusive and was successful. I wish MS would remember Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey.
For Microsoft's? Definitely. Dead Rising is considered one of their key pillar franchises.
It's way too soon for DMC5. Besides, with Capcom extending dev time for major titles after SF5 it can only be to DMC5's benefit. I'm not worried, neither is most of DMC-GAF.

FF12 didn't get this negativity with its announcement.
TBH most of the negativity is around Xbox/Win 10 exclusivity

I favor DR3 over the rest I actually took time to complete DR3
DR sold millions, about 10 million in total. Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey didn't do anywhere near that. Just business.
They probably can, but this and SF5 were done 3 years ago when everything not RE and MH was a much bigger risk. They're doing much better financially now.

They've been making a lot of smaller releases that earn profit for them, though they haven't been taking major risks. They did hit a pretty big financial crisis a few years ago, but they've been doing smaller efforts to net a return, albeit many using popular franchises, notably especially with their recent Resident Evil endeavors with the Revelations titles, the HD Remasters of REmake & Zero, the updated ports with slight new content for RE4, RE5, & RE6 on consoles, and their efforts currently on REmake 2.
But I imagine that profits is on their mind and a bit money conscious, especially with Street Fighter V under-performing earlier this year. And it seems Capcom have embraced doing lower-budget B-titles to fill both their portfolio, release schedule, and the like, so I'm interested to see where they go with that.

There are a few things that make Dead Rising 1 unplayable today for me:
- The load times are sooooo bad
- My Xbox360 broke

But I would be very sad if they remake it and it shifts into DR3 territory, especially with a "full town" and so all. I loved the tight area design, I hate the generic open world feel of DR3...
