AP: Clinton clinches Democratic Nomination

I’ll be voting for Trump. I don’t particularly care much for him but he’s preferable to Hillary. If Stein had a legitimate chance of pulling enough of the vote to cost Hillary the election (>5%), I would throw my vote her way, but the Greens probably won’t even have ballot access in my state (Iowa).

As for the rest of the ballot, I’ll just be voting against whoever the incumbent is.

ban me if you want
You do know that Trump (at least for now, who knows tomorrow) is for Deregulation, busting the EPA wide open, loosening rules relating to emissions and polution, and wants to boost Coal and oil digs, and is a Global Warming denier, right?

My vote for Clinton would really just be a 'Not Trump' vote. Wasn't really a fan of her either but eh.

I don't particularly want Hilary as President, but I consider my future vote for her to be less "Not Trump" and more "liberal Supreme Court."

People who don't want to vote for either have to realize that even though Hilary isn't perfect, the presidency is only for four years. Supreme Court is for much, much longer.

But he's for transgender bathroom freedom.

One word.

ESTABLISHMENT

Yeah I have no patience for the #neverhillary dems. I suppose Alucard has nothing to lose in a Trump presidency.

He doesn't deny Global Warming, he just said China invented it cause of "reasons"

Given the political climate, that means you're giving a better than 50% chance of electing someone who denies global warming, is anti-LGBT, embraces xenophobia, and has simplistic catch all solutions to "fix" the economy

Oh wait, that's Donald Trump.

And as a result, moving the country further to the right by not expressing themselves via the vote. People really need to realise that protest voting or abstaining altogether doesn't do or accomplish anything more than throwing a temper tantrum. You're not helping your agenda, you're not moving the country further to the left, you're only helping the right by being too stubborn to vote for the most viable left wing candidate.

By being more interested in anarchy than left wing policies.

Abstaining to Vote is the worst possible outcome

At LEAST vote for your favorite or closest to it come the general. Even if its an independent

As for the local races, I'll be leaving my city (and most likely my state as well) in a couple years, so I'm not concerned about who gets elected. With Governor-for-life Terry Branstad in office its not like it matters anyways.

At least you're open and honest about your privileged apathy.

I don't want you banned but I have every right to call you out for supporting a racist, sexist, white nationalist, classless and xenophobic asshole.

Frankly, I'm just glad you've given up the concern trolling and are just admitting that you have terrible opinions.

Man, it's getting crazy in here. We really gonna get all worked up over how two or three people say they're gonna vote?

It's what I was saying earlier. Let them vote for who they want even if it doesn't make sense or you feel they are supporting a racist. It's not going to matter in the end. Trump supporters that regularly post usually burn down their own house in the end anyways by saying something you would expect a Trump supporter to say. And some, I assume, are good people.

This should be a happy thread considering how many Hillary supporters there are on GAF. If anything all the salt should add to your enjoyment not sour it.

We should stop enabling Heulening

Yep. Should be obvious by now that regardless of her intention, she loves attention and we keep giving it to her by derailing threads she posts in and let it turn into all about her.

Wow. Sour loser.

My opinion is that you are and should forever be free to support whichever candidate you want. Since this is a discussion board with many well-educated, knowledgeable members, you better damn well be prepared to argue your case if you come in with an unorthodox view.

I can give a pro/con list on Hillary and then justify why I would vote for her over Trump or any other conceivable options still available. If someone claims they would prefer Trump over Clinton, I expect to see some specifics on why.

I thought he came out for it? Id look for the quote but I'm eating a Stromboli.
I mean he sorta did but it was more like idgaf they can do whatever they want

Then republicans got upset and he back pedaled and said the states should determine it because he doesn't know enough to have an opinion

It's consistent with his other policies. He also thinks same sex marriage and abortion should be determined by states

How can this be a happy thread when the stakes are what they are? Crazy Bernie hasn't even conceded defeat yet! People are claiming they won't support The Party!

You have to keep the outliers in check, if you can't directly change their vote you can at least verbally insult and demonize them to put some heat on them.

So like many of the Bernie Bros you were never for his ideals to begin with. Just a game, eh?

Exactly.

I just want to clear up, I was wrong for calling ppl to be banned. That's clearly not in keeping with the spirit of free speech and allowing people to sink themselves with their own ignorance. I apologize.

But as others have said, the time for coddling these Bernie or Bust Trump supporters is over. If you support Trump now, expect to be called out on that. It doesn't even matter if you support Hillary or Gary Johnson or Jill Stein or whomever. But supporting a racist/sexist/idiot? That's not really acceptable, unless you have zero respect for women/minorities or anyone else that Trump has talked down upon.

Thanks. Sounds like he's playing it "safe."

Bernie to Trump only seems absurd if you start from the confused premise that Bernie was a shining star of some kind of progessivism movement.

Bernie to Trump makes perfect sense if you recognized Bernie as simply being the obligatory populist candidate that appears like clockwork reincarnated every decade to teach people a lesson in complacency.

Indeed, he's this gen's Ron Paul. Right down to the fanatical online fanbase that doesn't actually vote.

everybody wants to be huelen

Indeed. I'm tired of it. This news is news worth celebrating. None of these people's votes will make a difference.

You're goddamn right! I remember a conversation I had with my Dad when I was a kid, probably about 8. I told him I think the first woman president would be around 2010; I'm 33 now. I didn't know anything about politics really but even my young mind knew there was something wrong about only men being president.

And here we are.

At least you're open and honest about your privileged apathy.

There's no reason to get worked up over local elections when you don't plan on staying in the area long-term. And like I said, Branstad will remain Governor until he dies or gets bored. Not to mention the Tea Party has a solid grip on the Iowa House.

Plus, generally speaking, incumbents in Iowa never lose. Harkin was senator for life. Grassley is senator for life. Ernst will probably be senator for life. Robert Ray was governor for life. Branstad was and still is governor for life. Vilsack would have been governor for life if he hadn't left due to presidential delusions. My congressional rep has a death grip on his seat, and his predecessor was an 18-time incumbent as well. Only time a race really matters is when the seat is vacant and there is no incumbent.
