AP: Clinton clinches Democratic Nomination

Better hope Dems run the table in Nov and push all they can in Hilary's first two years because it is becoming clear to me Dems aren't going to show up in 2018 mid-terms. It will be another GOP rout.

They were never going to turn up for the midterms. Every generation of young liberal voters claims they are going to be the ones that stick around and continue the 'revolution' well past the presidential vote, and it never happens.

You can see the apathy already lol.

I just want to say that you can vote for anyone that you want. One person that wants to be the president won't fix or doom America. Vote who ever you want. It's your vote and its your choice. Don't be scared of what people want you to do. Do as you please
I'm not going to tell you how to vote, but I think you're minimizing the damage a presidency can inflict, especially a presidency with support in the house or senate.

Presidents can and do make decisions that we'll have to deal with for generations.

lol yes, I used that article. 2.2m is the overall number of votes Obama got during the primary. Or at least thats what the article implies.

Let me search for better receipts.

The first line in the article:

"A new analysis from Tufts University shows that Sanders has now surpassed Barack Obama's 2008 Democratic primary totals among young people in the 25 states where we can draw a comparison — whether you count by raw vote total or percentage of the overall vote share."

California's numbers don't count here.

Don't tell me what to do!

And yet overall youth turnout was down regardless

Maybe not permanently (Assuming the people behind the nuclear launch tasks ignore Trump), but a single president can set back progress or keep it happening for years due to the Supreme Court, which as you may recall currently has a vacancy.

Ohio was the first nail in the coffin, but he only really mathematically lost when he failed to win New York.

The first nail in the coffin was Nevada. Bernie lost when he lost people of color. He lost when he lost Nevada, when he lost South Carolina, when he lost the entirety of the South. Ohio isn't where he lost, he was already dead in the water by that point.

In my lifetime, I'm going to see:

1. 1st female president.
2. 1st African American president
3. 1st inappropriate use of a cigar in the White House.

Can't wait to tell my grandkids!

"In 2008, the press marveled that Obama beat Hillary Clinton by 60 to 35 points among voters under 30, racking up around 2.2 million young votes throughout the primary."
But if you go into their source it says nothing about that 2.2m figure, lol.

Vote for who you want, but do not pretend a Supreme Court nominee that can shape laws for the next 20 years doesn't affect anything. America will not be doomed or super awesome by a single president, but that president can be someone that helps shape the countries direction

The creative wording used falls right in line with the edit I put on my post last page:

Also, that's why all these pro Bernie articles that talk numbers should be highly scrutinized. Bernie supporters are dominating the internet right now, so the best way to get clicks is to feed into their narrative. They will only show the important numbers.

Mmm, maybe. He progressively lost a hypothetical good will from super delegates when he lost Nevada, SC, Florida and Texas.

But he could have won pledged delegates by winning Ohio and New York, maybe.

Not to derail topic but the defense of trump on the other side has reached some new levels (republicans on cnn)

So I think even with the super delegate influence status quo arguments and some acerbity on this thread dems are still pretty better off ;)

Eg.

...says the media that is in Hillary's pocket.

Yeah, that biased media in Hillary's pocket.

Oh wait...

And will likely have two more vacancies in the next four years. Ginsberg and Kennedy.

He was never going to win New York. Never. She was a crazy popular senator who always did right by the state, Obama couldn't take it from her. Any strategy that counted on Bernie winning New York was always madness.

These Bernie threads on reddit are so fun to read.

"I don't understand the process that is going on at the polls/I don't think the workers at the polls understand the process...ELECTION FRAUD!"

Yep Vox has been trash all election long.

.

what has he done in congress all these years, just run his damn mouth, living in lala land.

cant wait till this old fart is gone from my tv screen

He is not leaving though! He will be an ever present personality in America´s politics and with the international left until the day he dies and beyond. Better get used to it bro!

Thats not what that first exit poll said, B-dubs.

The day the dream officially dies for Bernie is the same day that tons of GOP leaders are renouncing Trump.

Today is a DAMN good day.

...says the media that is in Hillary's pocket.

I don't know if you're joking or not, but the media has always been frosty (at best) toward Hillary, spent all of last summer shitting out one negative headline after another on Benghazi and her emails, and has done a lot more to help Bernie by keeping the primary horse race narrative going long after it had essentially stopped being a race back in March.

You should at least vote for all the other races in the GE. The President isn't a God King, the changes that your candidate wanted are going to come from Congress, State and local politicians. Also, please show up in the Midterms, that's where your vote will have the most effect.

I fully intend on still voting in the GE. I'm a registered democrat, have been since I was of voting age. I'll be voting for all other dems on the ticket as I normally do in both GE & mid-term & local elections.

I just can't bring myself to vote for Hillary. I'll be doing a fill-in vote or voting independent for the President. Thanks for being one of the few who didn't just try to crucify me for expressing myself as such.

Are you in a state Trump could win? Swing or otherwise or are you in like a guaranteed Democratic state like NY or Cali?

No problem, just stay engaged and it's all good as far as I'm concerned. For the Midterms you might be interested in Brand New Congress. It was started by some Sanders staffers. They are trying to organize for the midterms.

I like how so many people on YouTube comments are spouting that Hillary hasn't won because Supers don't actually vote yet. I guess it's a step up from prison and Shillary.

Even if he is being annoying by staying in without a real chance of winning, people all of a sudden are acting like he's the worst person in the world and that any accomplishments or good will he has done with his positions in the past have been nullified.

Bernie is still at least better than 3/4 of congress (which is a low minimum lol). He's just fed into his own hype. Wouldn't be surprised if his inner circle was telling him he could win like Romney's was.

He has with younger voters, though. He is probably the most popular candidate ever with young democratic / independent voters in a couple of generations. More than Obama.

Not true, as others pointed out. And last time I checked Obama beat Clinton and expanded voter turnout. Sanders lost badly to Clinton...and voter turnout is down from 2008.

You are highly downplaying what a President could do for the nation.
