GT Sport E3 2016 Trailer

If you are good enough you get actual real trophies and not just little virtual ones on your consoles profile page.

Good trailer. Just goes through those features fluidly. Could turn out to be a solid racer. Cant wait to get some wheel time.

DriveClub has 20+ cars on the track at once with accurate tire, suspension, body/drag profiles, engine/tranny profiles and runs at a locked 60fps?
I don't think anybody is suggesting it is. Personally, I'm suggesting that PD is fucking wizards, so I thought if anybody could go beyond my more pragmatic expectations (considering all the details you list above) and impress us with their magic, it'd be them.

There is an offline mode but it isn't a standard career mode IIRC.
Yeah, the offline career stuff seems to be tutorials, time trials and small challenges and videos to prep you for the competitive online.

There is still a separate arcade mode, but not sure if there have been any real details on it.

AFAIK we haven't heard anything about XP, progression or virtual currencies either, so no idea what if anything unlocks, and how you'd even go about unlocking things.

Do you play racing/driving games in general?

There is not a single racing game on the market that doesn't involve "bumper cars" online.

GT is no different so I wouldn't let that deter you tbh.

To be honest I've only ever played racing games offline and didn't realise this game was online only until after the post.

De know if the game has cosmetic damage?

So since 2001? You sure are an expert. Maybe don't post if you're not interested?

Wow...
Way to make assumptions about my level of interest.

Although I haven't played at GT since GT3, GT series was the first racing game I ever played and actually got me interested in driving games. After GT3 I moved onto the Forza series and also recently picked up Driveclub.

I'm actually very interested in this game as I skipped Forza 6 and am not overly fond of Driveclub. I'm desperate to play a new GT on my PS4.

Just initially surprised it looks like bumper cars still.

ok...still nothing official and do we know if this will be a DC like model with updates and cars and tracks added?

I do hope SP stuff takes priority even if it's not at launch.

There is credits and experience, so I'm still going to assume there will be something for players intimidated by playing online against others. I certainly don't want to lol

Not, it is official. All the info we have is from slides that they presented showcasing the modes and detailing what the campaign would be. And it is all basically tutorials, time trials, and some challenges with the goal of preparing people for online, rather than have a proper offline campaign that past GT games have provided.

Gran Turismo is the type of you you expect to have your mind blown every time a new entry is announced, I can't express how underwhelming the graphics are on this one compared to previous ''generation jumps''.

Looked okay, I've accepted that PD are a shell of their former selves. Can't stand e-sports but for any genre, I guess it makes sense for racing more than any other. I'll get it but meh, really does feel like a full priced stop gap whilst we wait for GT7.

PD making really shit trailers as well lately, the fuck has happened there? They were the best of the best of the best but over the past couple years, shit they suck.

It's still underwhelming in every single way. And if there's really no offline career then it's just not for me, considering I have zero interest in playing online.

VR will do that and make up for it.

I don't like it either as I already have hardcore sims that fill that style for me such as Assetto Corsa, Pcars, Rfactor, GTR2 etc. GT seems like it's trying to chase the PC sim style and it will probably fail.

They are expecting PD to blow them away like they always did their first games on new hardware.

Yeah I really am. First Party, they've always been ahead of the curve versus the competition. Uncharted 4 looks a generation ahead of Tomb Raider 2 on similar hardware for instance. This is the difference we expect(ed) from a PS4 GT game. Sadly, it looks nice, but just not enough. Less about graphical flourishes, but more in the car movement, collisions and so forth. It's just lacking. iRacing of 5 years ago looks more realistic because the car movement is so much closer to real life than GT somehow manages.

Oh...ok I might have to wait for some updates or GT7 then. I kinda just want to progress though races against AI. Still excited for it...especially for VR.

Amazing how the E3 trailer makes racing feel boring to me a week before something like the Le Mans 24 hours. I guess I'm too old school for this e-sports thingy.

This is a taster. They are saving the GTS Neo trailer for E3.

They're saving GT7 for Neo.

GT Sport is for poor people.

Hahaha.

Anyway, I think we're close to getting to the point where racing games look so damn good they'll be somewhat diminishing returns on future releases in terms of graphics.

They'll be improvements, but not the huge jump like in past console iterations.

I guess I'm not as jaded as some in here, I think this looks great. DC looks great, Forza looks great, pCARS looks great.

It's really hard for me to comprehend these threads where people say it looks like trash or has shit ps2 graphics.

edit-

Ditto. No interest in the esports angle.

It looks decent enough but I'm still worried about the framerate, sounds, and physics. It really feels like GT is trying to be more of a car porn simulator than a driving simulator. Graphics seems to take priority over making it drive properly since GT5.

Man...the beginning of the trailer feels like a massive retaliation act against all the naysayers, when the first big media blow out happend few weeks back.

First: appropriate intro music (Moon over castle)
Second: the tree line shot at 0:29

Nevertheless...rest of the trailer feels rather underwhelming (graphics, features etc.). Still looking forward to the game though, but this entry in the series can and will probably never create as much hype for me as 3 and 5 did - with 3 still being my personal favorite.

Yeah, the extra grunt will be all about solidifying the experience and adding effects: rock-solid v-synched 60fps, better AA, ToD, dynamic weather, dynamic tracks, crash physics etc.

Graphics, lighting and models already look superb.

That would be more than welcome in future releases.

My man!

I don't know what the big fuss is about for having an Esports focus. I can understand why it would be off-putting for shooters or MOBAs, but it should be beneficial for a racing sim. All this means is you'll have more robust and fleshed out multiplayer features along with a strong leaderboard scene and a great spectating system.

I honestly expected PD to get somewhere close to DriveClub if anybody could. At least somewhere in the same ballpark. But nope. That's a big fat nope with a side of nuh-uh, slathered in ain't-gonna-happen-here sauce.

Driveclub looks rough in a lot of daylight conditions partly due to a very jaggy look, GTS is close to it in my opinion while running double framerate. I think most people in here saying Driveclub looks much better are comparing to the wet condition visuals in Driveclub, so let's wait and see GTS with rain.

If you're good enough, you may get a job driving for a real, meatspace racing team.

Motorsports has come under a lot of fire in recent years for being prohibitively expensive and bad for the environment. The FIA sees the partnership with GT as a way to address those concerns going forward. A PlayStation and a nice wheel is far cheaper than even a competition kart — much less actual an actual race car — and it's much gentler on the environment. Competitive motorsport will no longer be strictly the domain of rich kids, because with FIA-sanctioned virtual competition, nearly anyone can get noticed and attract the attention of sponsors.

The idea is that in the future, GT:Sport will be the de facto "minor leagues" for FIA competition. That will help preserve the big stuff like F1 and Indy, but the lower tiers will be transitioned to virtual competition designed to identify and recruit drivers who are worth putting behind the wheel of an actual car.

hmmm, Norway is the only area that comes to mind during daylight gameplay that looks "rough". Mostly due to the brown/orange trees.

But overall Driveclub is on another level compared to what we're seeing here. that 30 v 60 fps difference.
