Crash Bandicoot remastered collection coming in 2017

So in and so excited. They'll do this collection to gauge interest and if it sells well then a new PS4 Crash will come.

Activision doesn't own code to the original Crash Bandicoot games. Anything done has to be in agreement or co-publishing of SIE most likely.

If any code from the PS1 games even remain which I doubt. Don't forget Lex Lang teased about voicing Cortex again (could be for Skylanders mind you, and Jess Harnell is back also in it as Crash), that's a redone/remake/whatever.

Is it coming to other platforms? Something was said about "first on playstation", wasnt sure if he was talking about Skylanders or the collection

A new crash game will totally be miltiplat but I cant see this remaster simply because of the weird legal mess between Sony / Naughty Dog and Activsion it probably is.

Hope they'll remaster CTR too anyways I'm cautiously optimistic

Also this!

Say what you will about how the PS1 platformers have aged but CTR is still great today

Pretty sure Layden said they're "remaking them from the ground up".

I highly doubt the collection will look "shitty" in any serious respect. I don't expect a Ratchet and Clank re-imagining but jeez, some of the cynicism I'm seeing seems pretty unwarranted.

let the bandicootiness wash over you

releasing a remastered for the original trilogy is much better than releasing a new game that will disappoint millions because it's different

Yup. I don't think it'll be like a crazy remake but I also don't think they'll be slapping PS1 assets out either.

My body is ready.

You got to start somewhere, at least there was more than just Skylanders.
I said it when it was announced and i will say it again i feel like this is testing the waters with Activision/Sony to see if there actually is a market for a new Crash game because twitter hashtags and video game forums don't sell games and if this collection does well you can bet your sweet ass they will invest in a new Crash.

As for people asking what does the remaster mean he said "it's being made from the ground up" which means it isn't a smoother textured Crash and i don't know if people remember crash games but they weren't these vast open worlds, they can fit 3 of them on a blu-ray. We are lucky we are getting this collection to begin with people wanting Activision/Sony to shell out all this money for a brand new re-imagined Crash game because some people on Neogaf and twitter wanted it was just absurd thinking and if the game sells like shit i guess the market didn't want a Crash game to begin with.

The announcement of the remasters says PlayStation 4, and only PlayStation 4. Come on, that must be for a reason. It's spelled out as exclusive.

Not sure why you're arguing this.

He said remastering. Damn a ton of people are in for massive disappointment.

The people who just want Crash 1-3 updated on PS4 won't be. Sony's not just going to copy/paste those games onto the PSN store and call it a day. They did that already with the "classics" versions on PS3. I'm willing to bet that the collection will look and play just fine.

Wow. It's either pure vitriol or pure hyperbole in this thread, I can't tell the difference anymore, but some of these posts...

I don't think there's any way to know this outside of well it's Activision (if they are even making it?). We don't really know what they mean since we haven't really had a PS1 remaster due to this inherent problem which lead to the recent Resident Evil remake, which was called a "remaster". Even Metal Gear Solid skipped MGS1 for this reason.

I think there's more of a middle ground of excitement we can keep (maybe I'm being too optimistic!), though you're right it pays not to expect it to be too crazy just in case ofcourse.

This is gd. Crash is back! Remastered sure, I cant wait. Look how Rachet and Clank was remastered. Also, this is still with Activision-theyre still testing the waters.

After playing Ratchet & Clank, I am ready for something like this. My brain forgot everything about R & C so it was like a whole new game. Young people will like these games. They need clean up the graphics and saving system but a new generation will love them and there is nothing else like it out there lately.

Give me the PS4 store link, I need em quickly.

Talking psclassics here. If not ps4 then ps3 or Vita.

Again if we're going by the definition of remaster from everything we've ever seen in gaming, then yes you're getting the same game with better resolution and maybe some higher res textures. This is trash and if it's not that than at the very least Sony has handled the problem incredibly poor.

Son, you're completely overreacting.

Nonono that was not a "remaster" of re1 for ps1 that was a "remaster" of the GameCube "remake" which is an entirely different thing.

Why does crash team racing always get paid dust? It was among the best kart racers of the generation and is still one of the best all-time. That and snowboard kids are so unfairly underrated

People judging it before it is even shown. They're probably testing the waters with the Remasters (from the ground up) to see if the game still has an audience.

Oh, so you can't play Crash on PS4 then?

Remaster bashing is played out. If people want the same games - and I do - then more power to them, if you're mad then that's on you. Also they're not going to do it like the PS2 games, it's probably much more akin to Oddworld which was ground up.

After having gotten my head on correctly after the conference, I'm convinced doing remasters of 1-3 before potentially doing a "Crash 4" is the way to go.
