Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the most talked about game on social media

its looked last gen. great artyle but man that resolution looked ps3 level

this is true. what else is coming out for wiiu anyway? fuck all

That argument makes no sense, because if you look at the very same graph, you can see Pokemon Sun and Moon didn't chart very high despite being the only other game discussed yesterday during their stream. Its not just about it being a Nintendo game, or just it being a WiiU game. No other 3DS games were there.

Bear with me on this, but its possible people were just interested with what they saw in Zelda.

It means the combat looks simplistic and basically unchanged bar weapon durability and a simplistic stealth system that should not be considered newsworthy and enemy AI that looked extremely dense. The open world looked sparse and the ways in which you interact with it, and the new crafting system, look like something that wouldn't have been revolutionary in a PS2 title let alone a marquis game in 2016.

I am not saying it looks like trash, I'm just saying it looks extremely mediocre.

But no, apparently the fact that you can beat it without engaging in the story is enough to cause fans to defecate themselves and worthy of it's own thread.

Look at the mounted combat in Horizon. Do you see people making their own threads proclaiming it the second coming of christ because you can fire an arrow from a mount? And yet with Zelda it becomes a game of the show worthy feature.

In all honesty it's laughable.
Want some pepper with that salt?

I haven't seen any of that, only a gameplay trailer. That was what I found interesting.

They have talked about it a lot and you can see it better in the original reveal trailer from last year. They show Alloy blasting off parts of armor to expose the innards of the Thundermaw and even blast off things like the rocket pods and pick them up to use them against the enemies.

That was my point. Something more than a visual indication, ie real damage (enemy gets injured in a leg cannot run, enemy stabbed in the eye can't see, etc).
But that happens in Monster Hunter.
When enemies get too weak, they start limping. You can break off tails to reduce range. You can break off other parts of the body, which serves to weaken the monsters.

All Hail the King.

Someone! Photoshop this with Link's face:

Yes, but it's all scripted and right on an enemy to enemy basis.

Look, you know how Zelda: BotW looks like Link is actually a real person and needs to take care of real person needs in order to adventure effectively? Well, some needs, like wearing clothes, eating and not facing an enemy that'll stomp him with no difficulty. That's what I thought Horizon looked like, in regard to the enemies. These are real animal/robot creatures that react realistically to whatever you do to them, whatever. Shot in the face? Can't see. Tied to a tree? Can't move. Stuff like that.

The game isn't like that. It's more tactical, scripted and the like. Not saying that makes it bad, it's a different game than I imagined.

Watching the trailer, I was holding back tears of joy. I can't remember the last time I've felt that way seeing an upcoming game. It's so surreal to me, so I genuinely feel sorry for you. It's one thing to sit there and say "I'm not getting the hype", but it seems like you're really REALLY reaching JUST to spite people who are happy. Why can't you just shrug it off and look forward to the games YOU like?

Wow. Caipirinha > Ignore list. So much hate.

If Nintendo had an underwheming presentation, no one would be talking about it. It has nothing to do with Nintendo fans.

Most of my friends on Facebook who haven't really liked Zelda in a long time, bitch about Nintendo frequently or are mostly bro shooter folks are liking and going on about everything I post from the game. It just simply looks damn good and most people seem to think so.

I am not a Nintendo fan and I would say this is the best looking game at E3.

What makes it special is the possibility for emergent gameplay. There are very few games that can actually pull this off (MGSV being one of the rare examples). The game has all these different systems which, on their own, are nothing special but when brought together can lead to some awesome moments.

For example, there is this clip floating around where some grass is lit on fire, then Link jumps from his horse onto the fire, uses his glider and hot air from the fire to get some air, aims with his bow to in the air to stop time and then kills a high level mob by hitting it's weak spot. That is all player driven and not a carefully crafted set piece by the devs.

It also had the most content shown to talk about. How much can people say about a single trailer or 10 minute demo. It says something about appetite for the game for sure, but we need to see lasting impact after the show.

If pokemon was played for 5 hours, how would this chart look? I'm not discounting Zelda either. Quality and interest dictate information appetite. This wouldn't work for just any game.

Clearly it's a great model for exposure. I think that's the primary take away.

3ds probably isnt game starved like wiiu. the true test will be sales, that will show the real level of interest.

It is different seeing the Master Sword old, rusted, and chipped at compared to other ways it's looked. I'm curious if (what) it means to the story!

Yeah, something I keep forgetting-- even the latest Zelda games in the timeline have an intact Master Sword, and the Sheikah aren't exactly a technologically advanced civilization, just a tribe that serves the royal family.

This probably takes place hundreds if not thousands of years after TAoL.

How is being the most talked about game on social media by a huge margin not an indication there is a high level of interest? I agree that interest might not translate into sales, but its still interest.

And while the 3DS is better on games, its does also seem to be dying down like the WiiU. Pokemon is by far the biggest title they have left.

because interest doesnt mean anything if it doesnt put money in nintys emptying pockets. zelda fans are vocal dedicated minority around gaming boards/internet, most people dont give a crap about zelda or wiiu.

Yeah, anybody harping on the game is just being salty. Game looks good and the vast majority of people think so too.

no Persona on that list makes me sad :(

I don't think Persona had any major presence at E3, so naturally it wouldn't be charting at this stage. I wouldn't interpret that negatively to Persona, it just wasn't even at the event.

Too bad Sony didn't show it off, though. Perhaps because its a bit of time until the west will get to see it.

...this is a thread about the game getting interest, and you claimed the massive social media numbers aren't implying there is interest. Now that you agree it DOES mean there is interest, you are claiming the interest means nothing. Really moving the goalposts.

The first step to selling a game to the public is gaining interest. Even getting interest in a major title like Zelda is good news for Nintendo, because their goal should be to spin that interest in moving NX consoles, along with whatever else their lineup is for the NX. They need solid titles and interest in those titles to move the NX.

Laugh fucking out loud. Fans of every single one of the game on that graph are vocal minority by definition.

You gotta remember, Nintendo is always about a decade behind the curve. Firing a bow from a mount is pretty revolutionary stuff for them.

Let's just hope a bunch of talk on social media can turn around their downward spiral.

Nice to see all the people making fun of Nintendo for having a Zelda-only E3 are now trying to spin the hype the game got.

It even reached the front page of reddit with 9000+ upvotes in minutes.

Not surprising, it was a pretty uneventful show and Nintendo fans are always extremely vocal, and their ips have the biggest mind share. Zelda and Mario especially.

Nintendo games also placed highest on social media during other e3 directs as well, didn't really help dales though.

Game looks super fun though, might be the first Zelda I can really get into.

You could fire a bow from Epona in Ocarina of Time, which is an 18 year old game.

If this is just about Nintendo fans being vocal, can you explain to me why Pokemon ranked much lower on the same chart?

Wow Zelda really blew away everything this year. I honestly thought the trailer was great and it reminded me of the 2011 Skyrim trailer. I wonder how many views this trailer will have in comparison as the year goes by. It is already at an impressive 3 million.

Sad horizon is not higher. I hope it does well as I like the theme it is going for.

Don't worry, mainline Zelda games tend to sell a few million, they'll be fine.

And yes, it's certainly not the biggest series in the mainstream, but it's a big one in gaming culture.

Yeah but Nintendo fans on Reddit had nothing else to upvote.

not trying to get into a sales argument. But a lot of these Nintendo games HAVE sold well. Mario 3D world? Sold well. MarioKart? Sold well. MarioMaker? Sold well. Splatoon? Sold well. The only main Nintendo game that hasn't really sold well is StarFox and you can tell that was a passion project for them.

Now console sales I will agree with

Horizon 3 over Gears

...i'm happy and impressed, the Horizon series came a long way, grats to Playground

Anyway, i've never been a fan of Zelda but i love how passionate the fanbase is
