Balrog is going to be in the Street Fighter V June update on Friday

So three characters and sorry mode up on Friday?

Is whatever they're doing with the store fixed or up or will these characters be free to play?
If it's a typo then lol. If it's not then lol.

And I think you will have to pay for the chars, yeah. They dropped the zenny store and paid DLC will be purchased through PSN store/steam.

Juri currently trending in Japan:

I guess those character polls weren't nonsense after all, lol.

Juri is pretty popular.

SFII had around 4 years of support. As for the update missing June, it only missed the mark by one day.
Super Turbo was released almost exactly 3 years after Street Fighter 2.

Capcom had 30 days during which they could have released the June update, and they chose to take 31. They are 100% late.

I have no problems with the way Capcom handled DLC in SF4. They made costumes people liked as DLC and were later bundled for free in other updates to the game.

I'm also fine with SFV where you have the option to use real money or in game currency, but it's a hard sell to people when you don't have the rest of the game polished while charging full price for the game. Of course it would be great if the content was free, but this game hasn't sat in the arcade for a year, so it has to earn money somehow. Hopefully this update puts them on the right track.

DOA gives you that small fix to hook you in on the $600+ worth of DLC they have to offer. It's also nowhere near the level competitively as SF is.

PR Balrog... the guy who retires like once a year... is going to commit and stick with it? Nah... we'll see how long he lasts with no headbutt.

Balrog has a V-Reversal headbutt. PR Balrog still getting bopped though, but now with a character he's more comfortable with.

Makes the inevitable nude mods much easier to make.

They're even easier with the switch to UE4. I'm in there day 1.

Juri's design looked soooooo bad in the artwork. Gland it looks better in-game.

The design was fine to me. The artwork itself was just bad and rushed. So happy that she looks amazing in game.

That isn't at all true of other Street Fighter games. Street Fighter 4 is literally the only example I can find of five years of game support. Even the almighty Street Fighter 2 didn't get that.

And Capcom says a lot of things, like that this July update is coming in June. But it is pretty sizable, so if we had to miss two months of updates at least we're getting an early and meaty July update.

Capcom usually updates their fighting games, and SF4 was supported up to 2014, so I don't see why they wouldn't support SFV. Where else are they going to make money from?

They should just release juri and urien at the same damn time! Might as well release both of the most sexual Street Fighter characters as a pack together!

Call it the Jurien PACK!

Are challenges going to come in this update as well?

You bought the Japanese E-Capcom version? That one came with Zenny which apparently no longer exists. I wonder how those people will be compensated.
They got fight money, which many are pissed over because you can't buy premium costumes with that.

New characters look great! Too bad about the June update no longer being in June.

From what I heard, they just got fight money so they can't buy any of the premium outfits. I would be so pissed if I bought that edition.

I did. It's still sealed though.

I was going to buy it but was too late.

I'm kinda glad though with the clusterfuck of how Capcom handled the game at launch. Also I was able to buy the NA version for $10 USD from Amazon.com.

I only spent $40 for the game + season pass.

Edit: Thanks above posts! I totally dodged a bullet there!

I just bought it for collection purposes with no intention of using it. I think it's a beautiful piece but not worth the price when it comes to content, even more so after the zenny shop debacle...

Not a fan of Urien's English voice, and why is he wearing clothes? If that suit doesn't come flying off during his V Trigger, or if he doesn't have a classic alt, then Capcom has some explaining to do.

They want you to give them money.

In all seriousness I haven't gotten a chance to look through all of his stuff yet. If they only showed him briefly it could be his pre fight look or his story costume.

Urien is far from being favored by my personal tastes, but if there's characters like Laura around it's only fair that Urien be allowed to show some skin. It really shouldn't be his alt though considering most of the characters haven't had massive redesigns.

This reveal makes me feel like capcom might be getting their shit together after all.
They did everything right this time.
The announcement was actually worth announcing, there was a good trailer and a very pleasant surprise for fans. Characters looked great, no big mishaps with their designs like ken's face, alex's stance or lesser ones like "i have seen some serious shit" guile face. I felt like the painted boob on juri looked a bit janky but not a big deal.

They still can't make nice looking stages though. At least those alternate stages without the goofy characters are coming.

I wonder what does this mean for the dlc scedule, will we still get a character each month going forward and season 1 ends faster or will there be a month where we don't get a character?

It's one day. And the July character which would have probably been Boxer is coming almost a month early so... I'll take it.

Yeah if we go by the roadmap and Capcom releasing their content at the end of the month Ibuki is 2 months late and Story mode is 1 day late and Balrog is a good 30 days early.

On a technicality Capcom are still on track for Juri in August and Urien in September (or vice versa).

I'd like Juri's outfit more if her undershirt looked more like an actual shirt. Right now it just looks like....there was an anime called Macademi Wasshoi! where for the tv airing they censored most of the nudity by just painting the girls' bodies purple to make it seem like they had a bodysuit on, but it looked really awkward. Here it looks like they just changed the texture and didn't actually model or texture a shirt onto her boobs.

There's nothing really meaningful to say on it other than they probably did it to avoid controversy. I don't mind either way. She's basically the Widowmaker of Street Fighter, really (She's even got a Spider Gwen style logo on her back). I really like her with the eyepatch and the high collar adds menace to her design.

He's shown fighting in the suit.

I hope we'll know the answer by Friday.

I think it's kind of interesting that urien has kind of a disco-playboy design. Kind of taking him in a different "sexy man" direction. (Less Pillar-Men, more Shoujou?)

That month was in May, Capcom have 60 days to release Juri/Urien after the big update this Friday.

As in "Heathcliff"
The trailer is freakin amazing. I'm totally not fan of Balrog in old game but man, the trailer really made him look way good and fun. I'm definitely going to give him a shot as usual as I would do for rest of the characters..

I really love that throwback Las Vegas stage. SO HYPE!

There was not going to be a character release in June. On Friday they will be 1 character release ahead of schedule.
The schedule was for the last character to release in September. If they release a character every month then it is July for Juri and August for Urien so season 1 ends faster.

Yeah if he's fighting in it, it pretty much eliminates the possibility of it just being just pre-fight like the suit in SF3 was.

He'll probably be wearing in the story mode and we'll all wonder if it's his main until he comes out in the August update at the beginning of September.

I don't really have an issue with it personally, I was honestly kind of hoping for the suit as an Alt, but it seems like they are drastically changing his image by doing that and that's probably not what fans if the character want.

They are, it's terrible. I don't think SFV can recover from this.
"Oh no, somebody pointed out that the June update is late! He must be outraged (instead of just being bemused while also caring a little about accuracy and honesty)! Everybody get in here, ignore context, and start throwing shit everywhere!"

Before release who would have ever expected the SF5 fanchildren to get so hilariously Orwellian? You guys have really leveled up your insufferable game.

It's one day. And the July character which would have probably been Boxer is coming almost a month early so... I'll take it.

Sure, I obviously agree.

Though to be fair Boxer is only almost a month early because Capcom has so far only released updates when the respective month is basically over, ha.

I'd be really happy if this shift means future updates come somewhere in the middle of the chosen month. Surprise us, Capcom.

Ahem...

...
On a final sidenote, getting the Balrog reveal in Vegas, like some of you have pointed out as being likely now, is not only fitting but also quite exciting if you consider the possibility of him coming with a remake of the iconic SFII Vegas stage. Fingers crossed!

...
Edit: almost missed that stage discussion from a few pages back. I don't remember seeing a nighttime Brazil variant but I do remember seeing a nighttime Shadaloo Airfield one with Rashid in front. I'm still hoping for a remake of Balrog's Vegas stage and an Aztec(?) ruins stage for Urien (and still for all the remaining character art backgrounds to materialise as stages for that matter) but if we only get variants of exisitng stages, we'd have enough for the remaining DLC fighters (Nighttime Shadaloo Airfield = Juri?, Daytime Kanzuki Estate = Ibuki, Nighttime Waterfall = Urien?, Sagat version of Shadaloo HQ = Balrog?), even if some don't really fit them.

...
(Though Balrog + re-imagined Vegas stage would be cool.)

Apologies for quoting myself but this is definitely the closest I have ever come to "calling" something, even if it is in the form of wishing for it :)

After the Air Force Base I had a feeling that Balrog's stage might be next. Sagat, if he ever becomes DLC, might follow the same trend of coming with a remake of the Thailand stage. For some reason those three seem appropriate due to them being both iconic and unique.

As some of you have pointed out as well, this second remake stage does continue the trend of looking a bit more basic than the new stages though, especially in terms of interactables / moving objects - of which there appear to be none.

As for the trailer itself:
- Balrog looks very awesome - I might try him for the first time actually.
- Juri looks awesome as well though I REALLY hope she'll get her IV outfit as well as wider pants do really complement her fighting style I feel.
- Urien I'm a bit mixed on in terms of his face and the fact that he now wears a suit. Maybe he'll grow on me though.

Maybe the suit melts away at the end of the story as he becomes more powerful and it's used as a narrative element, since this is pre-3?
