All right. The link contains footage of a shooting in which I assume the police officer was killed, consider this before viewing.

man that is straight up some call of duty stuff. The officer is clearly taking a defensive position and the shooter went for the distraction execution

shooter was to the left of the cop and came around the pillar, casual dude was to the right of the cop afaik.

ah okay, yeah i watched the vid again and saw the guy approach around the pillar this time, so it was the same incident... thought maybe it was a different shootout. it's possible casual dude was still a shooter... it's really strange behavior.

Pretty sure that's not just someone calmly walking along. I see a muzzle flash before the person along wall drops to the floor? That looks like a shooter ... jfc

Those are sparks from ricocheting bullets. You can see them on the webm posted on top.

The targeting of police officers in general, seems like a more homegrown thing then a foreign terrorist attack.

Whatever the case, various political entity's are going to use this to try and seperate people.

It is all disgusting, and the political fallout will even be more gross.

Said this a few pages back but if a terrorist wanted to plant bombs in heavily trafficked areas now would be the perfect time to do it when all law enforcement is otherwise occupied.

I wish the Dallas PD killed him rather then him shooting himself. I definitely didn't want him alive, I don't want him sprouting his hate anymore to people that would listen.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Someone on CNN with Don Lemon already brought that up. Giving cops more military style equipment sadly seems like something they'd get behind to increase gun sales when the real solution would be to get this crap off the streets so that the only dudes who own an AR-15 have to buy it on the black market not Wal-Mart or a gun show...that would stop most school shooters at least.

Did they not see all of the police ARs? How?

Anyone who celebrates the loss of those officers as they were protecting the people and their right to protest - you're the problem.

I don't think people are celebrating, but this shouldn't come as a huge shock after the police in this country have been straight up murdering black people for years now. The powder keg was bound to go off eventually, it's just tragic that it happened to these cops who were actually doing the right thing and helping the protesters.

Video from different angle shows the shooter coming from the left around the pillar, he's wearing tan cameo though so he blends in.

Any idea of what the NRA's response to the LA bank robbery was? I can't imagine it will be much different.

We dont know that the police were shot because of retaliation for murderous cops though. We dont know anything.

I know it is anecdotal , but I have seen some tweets from some that are definitely celebrating. It is disgusting, inhumane and being reported appropriately.

This is a great question, but I expect them to push something along the lines greater police militarization. Something like, "if the cops had been armed with M16s, they could've put the shooter down for good with superior range and stopping power!" Type of shit rather than any discernable logic.

I'd imagine that police chiefs will be asked "what would your department do in that situation?". Which will lead to exactly that outcome.

But as we all know in those cases were black people are killed. Its usually for no reason or no reason enough to take lethal action rather then non lethal. This just fellows that same pattern.

I live in Texas. Anyone black person with sense would know that this means it's open season on all black people after this event.

I went home immediately after work and advised every fellow black person I work with to do the same.

My boyfriend is staying over because police scare me and it's good to have him near during this.

It actually kinda is. All PSNI officers are armed, and in other parts of the UK armed police presence is becoming increasingly overt.

This was a recent video shot in Cheshire.

I find the reaction of the customers alarming to say the least. They wouldn't be complaining if a gunman chose that moment and that supermarket for their terrorist attack. They'd be glad of a couple of coppers with guns.

Only thing I can think is disbursement of sound and sonic over stimulation causing him not to realize the relative distance of the event. Disorientation and loss of perspective is a problem even in combat trained people. Civilians are much more likely to misjudge distance, source, and orientation of loud combat sound.

Unbelievable. Just.... I cant even. Almost crying right now at the thought of what might happen to these guys because the media's lust for blood and sensationalism. DPD I know you lost people tonight, good people, but you need to make a statement NOW to clrar these guys, and offer them police protection in the coming days, so that their families dont join yours at the upcoming funerals.

Man I can't help but feel bad for that officer that tried to take the guy down. He should have had some backup there, or his partner. That's just a shitty way to go.

just don't overreact when it comes down to it.

I think it's legal as long as a bullet isn't actually in the chamber, but I could be wrong.

Many police departments do equip their officers with M4s or M16s in their squad cars.

Hell I've seem motorcycle cops with M4s here in Southern California.

Welcome to my World (In Turkey cops regularly get ambushed by PKK militants and pro-PKK Kurds celebrate on Twitter).

It's very weird to see another country, America no less, feel the pain that my country has unfortunately become used to. In your case there is no militant group so I'm sure it's an isolated incident and will not become a pattern.
