He expressed during negotiation he wanted to kill white people/white police officers, was also upset with BLM, not sure exactly what that means yet.

I'm confused. The way I understood it at first was that the suspect accidentally died in an explosion triggered by the bomb robot. It's common to defuse bombs by breaking the trigger mechanism with an intentional detonation and I figured the suspect was just caught in the blast. But apparently it was intentional?
That is my understanding as well.

If they sent people in and he could detonate, it would be a lot more lives lost. Taking him out remotely is smart.

But I'm not clear if he got killed from defusing bombs and happened to be there too.

I'm liking this police chief.

Shame that this entire scenario is even happening but he's handling this with class.

Just said by the police chief and I'm paraphrasing here but now I have a direct quote:
He wanted to kill officers. And he expressed killing white people. He expressing killing white officers. He expressed anger for black lives matter.

I think it was irresponsible to say they were withholding information about the suspects while giving quotes from one of the suspects without more information, not even direct quotes as far as we know.

Yeah, that's what I think as well. This guy keeps saying "he wanted to kill white people" and he keeps saying "he was upset and angry with BLM".

This dude could be anyone, but I bet the witch hunt goes directly for BLM...

I really hope BLM people are swift to show solidarity with the Dallas PD on this. Though I know it won't convince the far right crazies

yeah the guy had just killed a lot of police officers

you bet your ass the police wasn't going to fuck around. kinda surprised that they sent in a robot with a bomb, but not really shocked. kind of expected - they didn't want to negotiate with him, they wanted him dead.

There has never not been an open season on black people, dont know what you are talking about. This makes a bad situation worse absolutely, but its not like we were enjoying peace before this happened.

That's what I mean, things are going to get worse now because people are going to use this incident any time a black person gets shot.

He said anger for blm, not anger at.

He then followed it up with how it doesn't make any sense.

How about we wait and see what the suspects have to say before suggesting they were white nationalists, flase flaggers, BLM supporters or haters, whatever whatever.

News groups are going to be crawling over one another to get out anything they think they heard and then you have the village idiots on social media trying to get their 15 minutes.

These events always seem to have everyone jumping the shark.

That's easy to say. The problem is that if this guy is black and targeting white cops, BLM is done and it's open season on black and brown people. Nobody will be able to say shit against it because this one clown killed cops.

That's how it is as a minority. One of us fucks up, and we're all fucked.

It's always open season on black and brown people. This isn't going to change anything. And BLM isn't going to stop being activists because of this. People already hate them, this will also not dampen their efforts.

You're over reacting. Right now its just important that both the police and the community engage in peaceful existance. An endless circle of retaliation isn't going to be productive.

What a racist piece of shit. I don't even want to deal with all the fucks that are going to throw blm under the bus because of a mentally unstable asshole.

And this is the first drone kill on American soil? This has turned out to be a terrible situation all around.

Probably too early, but where are all the good Samaritans taking down these shooters with their guns? In the videos it looks like a fucking battlefield in the middle of Dallas. I'm not surprised they had to send a remote bomb to kill him.

"Upset about BLM" could mean "Upset at the events that have lead to the existence of BLM", or rather using the term as a zeitgeist* rather than an actual organisation. It's weirdly ambiguous wording, but it makes no sense for them to be angry at BLM as a movement and then specifically shoot white people.

* Which is kinda how it started, as a hashtag and all that. It didn't develop into the organisation until later.

Same here.

I would assume they were angered that protests were more peaceful and was on some sort of "vengeance" mission.

this is really a shocking twist if he was both anti-BLM and anti-white people and anti-police. Maybe it'll be a moment when police and minorities can share a moment of solidarity.

This guy sounds like violence embodied.

The Dallas police chief seems level-headed so maybe there won't be extreme reactions in Dallas. Maybe the gov will put pressure , though, and lots of other cities may panic.

Bomb disposal bot is not a drone.

They are talking about how damn unusual it is to have this robot detonation.

They aren't supposed to have explosives on hand like that.

Wake up this morning to find out shit is going crazy. Ugh.

Not just gonna throw BLM under the bus, gonna throw the Black struggle in general under the bus. This shit don't help.

Ugh

They would have been shot. Random guy shooting up the joint. How do you think a random guy with a gun showing up would go.

because not much better is still an upgrade

Lol yeah nobody is going across an ocean to an entirely new culture for "an upgrade"

He's being disingenuous. Nigeria is much much much worse than the US, and I say this as a person who went to Nigeria as a person in love thinking it was going to be amazing to visit the homeland. It was terrible

The 2nd time he talked about the negotiations and what was said, he worded it as "upset FOR black lives matter," as in he had the same grievances albeit acted separately from them.

Only because the news is already twisting the Dallas police chief's words in no time flat.

The Chief irresponsibly dropped some vague information which could have been withheld until a clearer picture was brought.

Its not just unusual, its unheard of. This is the first time i have heard of anyone being taken out by a bomb disposal robot, this shit is mind boggling.
