Downloading now on PS4 (through iam8bit's collector's edition). 1.1 GB.

I've cleared most of the west and north areas on PS4 and have not seen any frame rate drops. Solid 30 fps just like on most PCs.
I've seen complaints about frame rate drops many times on PC but in many cases it was just that in the heat of heavier battles, people panic and start button mashing on the dash which causes it to not chain, which results in the perception of controller response going down. Could this be what's happening in your case?

I got the game with my code, but I don't think I backed high enough for dlc. I redeemed through the browser PS Store, though, if it makes any difference.
What tier did you back at? I was only $15 so I shouldn't have the alternate drifter.

Didn't realise that backers were getting a code for the console version, as I did a quick scan of the Kickstarter and didn't see it mentioned, so I pre-ordered the game on PSN! Never mind; I've been looking forward to this for 3 years and I really don't mind throwing a bit of extra money their way. Anyway, I played it just before bed last night but it was about 12:30am and I was falling asleep as I was going, so I turned it off and I'll give it another crack tonight. The art style is incredible though. Some of the best pixel art I've ever seen.
I see it on the pause screen, but it's greyed out. I figure I just haven't progressed enough yet to do it.

Sounds like a backerkit issue then. I've dropped them an email, hopefully I can get my code tonight.
I picked East first, and that definitely has the easiest boss, and maybe even enemies. The boss in the west is definitely the hardest in the game. My order was east, north, west.
btw, I crafted the card badge yesterday on Steam and the profile background you get is official art without the logo, perfect as a wallpaper:

So, those who are playing on PS4...is the performance good enough for you? I'm like, seconds away from buying this lol
I'm so close to pulling the trigger on the PS4 version but these talks of performance issues are making me wary.
I've mostly cleared the west and north regions and there are no performance issues. There is minor stutter in really large areas with lots of enemies, but the frame rate doesn't actually drop.

I have enough for my first upgrade. Is it possible to screw up a playthrough? What should I be upgrading first? :3
Chain dash is the only upgrade that's required for some of the (hidden) gearbits and other items. So get that asap. The charge slash is also very useful, as are the bombs. I found having two bombs helped a lot to clear out rooms with a lot of enemies, or at least thin the herd. Once you have the shotgun, it's also useful to buy the ammo upgrade, since that's pretty much the best gun along with the sniper rifle.
The upgrade allowing you to dash through projectiles is also useful, as is deflecting projectiles with your sword.
I may be in the minority on this, but I found the bombs to be the best upgrade overall, because there are a lot of rooms where the enemies are already packed together, and you can clear like 5 at once with it. Only downside is the long cooldown, which is why I got 2 as well

Game hasn't appeared in my download list or my PS4 console library.
Can't download the game from the store as it asks me to purchase it. I guess thats because i've got a special kickstarter version and not the ordinary game. PS4 receipt email say i've redeemed/purchase: Alternate Drifter (Game Pack)
Tried redeeming the code again but on my console and nothing happened.
How do i get my game? Any ideas?
Also, a cautionary tale for redeeming through the playstation store website, i really need to stop doing that

Double-dipped on PS4 tonight as I had a lukewarm experience with the PC release earlier this year. My only computer currently is my Surface Book, and while it can run the game without any crashes or anything weird, I do believe that it may introduce quite a bit of input delay to the situation. I don't have the knowledge and probably not the means to test it exactly, but suffice it to say, my biggest gripe with HLD on PC via my laptop was that it didn't feel all that responsive.
PS4 version, to me, feels better. I haven't played the PC version since the week it released, and I can still admit that it doesn't feel entirely ideal, but I am coping with the controls and the general design nuances of HLD a lot better on PS4.
I have run into a few occasions where it feels like the game starts to slow down some, though, and it does feel like it's dipping into low framerates. It's during busier scenes and heavier fights, but as others have reported, there's not much about this game that seems like it should be taxing the PS4 too hard at all, so I just wonder if it's some huge engine (GameMaker Studio I think?) optimization issues on PS4 hardware.
HLD was, for a very long time, easily my most anticipated indie game, and for a while there one of my top anticipated games of all. It's a tad disappointing that so far I've yet to really, really attach myself because of the way the game feels to play, but I still absolutely love the aesthetic and music and the way the story is presented minimally. I absolutely don't think it's a bad game, it just doesn't FEEL the way it LOOKS to me -- or rather, the way it looked in previews.
I'm, so far, having a slightly improved experience with the PS4 version.

East nets you a pretty awesome weapon to tackle the other areas with.
Same issue, I redeemed on the console store itself though.

I'm having the same issue, hopefully it'll just sort itself out when the store fully updates later in the day.
Normally I wait until games are properly out before putting codes in, but I'm worried a combination of excitement and tiredness making me think it was already released have screwed me here!

Wierdly there are two version on the PSN EU store 'Hyper light drifter' not purchasable, and 'Hyper light drifter TM' which is the purchasable game.
The media libary shows i have 'Hyper light drifter'... maybe we've got a code for a product that was setup incorrectly and been turned off...?
