Does this game have couch co-op on PS4, and if so how does it work?
Do you control two characters, or 1 character and 1 helper, and if one of the characters dies, do you both have to restart or can one revive the other?
Chain dash is the only upgrade that's required for some of the (hidden) gearbits and other items. So get that asap. The charge slash is also very useful, as are the bombs. I found having two bombs helped a lot to clear out rooms with a lot of enemies, or at least thin the herd. Once you have the shotgun, it's also useful to buy the ammo upgrade, since that's pretty much the best gun along with the sniper rifle.
The upgrade allowing you to dash through projectiles is also useful, as is deflecting projectiles with your sword.
I may be in the minority on this, but I found the bombs to be the best upgrade overall, because there are a lot of rooms where the enemies are already packed together, and you can clear like 5 at once with it. Only downside is the long cooldown, which is why I got 2 as well![]()
As someone who pledged $100 to this kickstarter, I have to say that this game is my dream come true. Living up to all the hype that my mind has mustered up and that's damn impressive on the game's part. Well done, HeartMachine.
If anyone is on the edge, I'd say jump in. I hope they can make a sequel!
Well I got it for PS4, just about to start.
I've wanted this game for long, but was against buying it because of how hard I've heard it is. But I bought the soundtrack months ago and have literally listened to it non stop for months. The act style is too gorgeous to miss.
I might not ever finish the game, but I have to at least experience it.
Also, no dynamic PS4 theme? Come on! It would look soooo good. I hope one comes out soon.
Am I the only one who cannot successfully pull off a chain dash? Everytime I get at least one, it's from dumb luck. And there's a trial for this? Sheesh.
EDIT: Nevermind, I'm dumb. Just figured it out. Still tough though.
Yep there's co-op. I believe the second character arrives or resurrects at the cost of a portion of player1's health, and if player1 dies, you reload the checkpoint. Everything still revolves around player1, player2 is just kind of extra.
Worked great from what I played.
I know I am going to have a tough time with this game, what direction should I go first which'll be easiest on me?
Can anyone point me in the direction of the 3rd node in the east section? I literally have no idea how to get to it. I'm itching to take on my first boss.
It's been a while but I think with the exception of a couple pieces, it's possible to fight each boss without any upgrades.. I'm stuck on the 4th one in that area. You've got to go underground, if It's one of the ones I'm thinking of
Also, a question: Are the areas designed to be tackled in one go? I've run into several places in the East that I have no idea how to get around and I'm assuming I'll need upgrades, but will I need upgrades to get the triangles?

Let me clarify, it is necessary to get bonus pieces. I call them bonus since it takes only 4 to fight the boss and 8 to complete the area.
A lot of people went West first since the game highlighted that area first but it's entirely up to you. There's nothing stopping you from going West, East, or North.Started this morning, I have no idea what I am doing, which I assume is by design, do I just go in any direction and figure it out as I go?

I went East because a dog ran that way!
Does it first run East? I forgot about that. I could have sworn there was a dog sighting at the beginning of each direction. Or maybe it was further along in the path.I went East because a dog ran that way!
I started in the west area. I suspect this was an error in judgement.
This. I completely missed the highlighting of the West.

Maybe you have overscan set to "on" in your TV settings?
You too...
And you as well...

I think co-op is a great way to play this game, works really well.Played the co-op mode for a bit with friends yesterday and it's fun... We started a new game and rushed through the east section + boss. Game's definitely easier in co-op, but I like how you have to sacrifice 1hp to revive your partner.
I keep returning to the game, and on my save I'm 15ish gearbits away from 100%, and a few outfits.
I am really looking forward to digging into this game, but am debating which console to grab it for. Does anyone know if it runs better on one than the other, or should I base it on which controller I prefer more? Do both versions have co-op?
For those trying to go for the 800 dashes... the BPM is 240 bpm. My record right now is 234. Turn your sound off and give this a shot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUsa0BTepkQ
I didn't see any highlighting either!
Maybe because I just naturally headed East it appeared, I assume there is no difficulty penalty on either direction?, no direction particularly harder or easier than another?
I beat this on PC and greatly greatly enjoyed it, but I don't really think I'm going to purchase it again for PS4.
Was anything new added for the console versions?
How is the performance on the PS4?
