Oh man. I really dont want a
nice
Joker...

He can be like Marvel's take on a nice Carnage during AXIS (don't bother reading the actual event)

I kinda don't want it either. The Joker in this film apparently legitimately
loves Harley, like, he cares about her well being and shit as much as his own, if not more.

I guess that's fine for an
anti-hero, but the Joker? The team behind this film talks a lot about the difference between "bad" and "evil", I always assumed the Joker would be "evil". I guess that might not have been a safe assumption.

I'm betting the ending got changed because the Joker's character got changed. Based on what I'm reading from people who've seen it,
the Joker isn't really that bad of a guy in this film.
As hard as that is to believe, that seems to be the case. Consider the fact that they cut the scene where the Joker
slaps Harley.
Says a lot about the direction they wanted to take him.

This sounds really awful honestly. I gotta stop reading this thread my excitement is dying too quickly.

I understand that their relationship is problematic, but the movie seemed like a perfect setup to remove that... Start with the classic abusive relationship, let Harly realize what he does to her and in the end, she "breaks up" with him. Good chance to have some empowering moments.

Honestly... that seems even worse to me. Harley breaking up with the Joker would make her being "Harley Quinn" feel redundant. Why maintain the persona that was built specifically to pair with a person you don't even want to be with anymore? It'd be dumb, unless it was done in her final appearance. I love Harley and Joker together, I just wish their relationship had a little more teeth.

You either get spoiled or you live long enough to become the spoiler.

Seriously tone it down or make a thread. Come on.

And the next half spoiler I see I'm starting a personal vendetta against you. You'll be my superman. And my mom isn't named Martha so checkmate motherfucker.

As I understand it the whole plot is already out there, so what's the reason to not open a spoiler thread.

Superman
cries
in Batman v Superman.
Or
I don't wanna have a Batman that
grills
people.

This is not how you fucking spoilertag.

I bet the reason the shock paddle scene looks so different now is because
now he probably doesn't actually use them. That photo of Joker scolding Harley in the helicopter probably was when he threw her out and now she just falls. Which makes sense because now wee see them kiss instead of him scolding her and there is a TV Spot and a few frames in the comic con trailer you can see him reaching out and yelling in the same outfit from the helicopter scene.

I surprisingly love the three tracks that have been released from the soundtrack. Has the rest of the album leaked yet?

It seems like soundtracks with songs made specifically for a movie is pretty rare these days.

Just saw Suicide Squad! I think it was a fun movie. Wasn't necessarily worth paying theater ticket prices for so I'm glad I saw it for free. There was WAY too much back story development in the first 45 minutes. Margot Robbie was fantastic as Harley Quinn. Jared Leto was a great joker. Obviously different. But great. The movie was too much about Will Smith and sexualizing Margot Robbie. It's almost as if they shot it thinking "well it's probably going to suck but everyone likes seeing Will Smith and a mostly naked Margot Robbie". It did have a mid credits scene to help set up Justice League which was much appreciated but still left a ton of questions. Overall it seems DC tried to make this their Guardians of the Galaxy. The sound track was bomb. That was the best part of the movie. Go see it at your own risk. I give it a 5/10.

One dude in OT has a friend who has seen it.

So yeah, like I said: BURN IT ALL DOWN! FALSE GOD AYER!

Pre-screening impressions do NOTHING to sway my hype one way or the other. Like, literally it's impossible to tell whether a movie is good or not based on these. Reviews will be important, and that's what I'm waiting for. Could turn out terrible, could turn out great. Who knows. But I'm certainly not getting depressed or descending into chaos because of some random person saying they didn't think much of it.

Suicide Squad |OT| We're All Suckers for Pain (Paying)

Kidding. It sounds fun to me. I usually watch my movies in pairs at the matinee, so I'll be good no matter which way the wind blows. I am looking forward to the Double Toasted review for this though.

I'm watching The Killing Joke and rereading The Long Halloween to get my brain into a DC mood for this.
