Nu-Male's Sky is the perfect game for Reddit/Bernie supporters, which means it's a bad game for everyone else. By all means, if you have a beard, thick-rim glasses, and love being cucked, then this game is for you.

Maybe your wife will let you play it while the pool-boy Rodrigo pleasures her in ways you and your shriveled manhood can't even comprehend. How's that for mind-blowing? And your wife won't even have to leave this solar system to experience it, which is more than we can say about you.

It can be topped

Absolute hot garbage! What would expect a game developed by a bunch of nu male cucks to be like. When you first boot up the game watch out for the nauseating frame rate which could only be described as hellish and make sure not to pass out in sheer excitement at every planet only featuring minor differences than the last.
¯_(シ)_/¯/10

So, I tell my wife, let me just play 10-15 minutes, I need to check something, then we'll go to the beach.
So I go, check it out, find Heridium, fix my ship remotely, then tell her: "It's 1:10 to this question mark, I'll save there, then we go".
But the question mark is a language stone, I learn a new word, new question mark, 1:45. I'll save there. Another stone.
Wife is ready to go.
2:00 to the ship. I fall into a deep cavern. I get lost. 3:30 to the ship.
But, 1:15 to the new question mark.
Yeah, it's a new discovery. A beacon, camera gets launched into space, tells me I found an alien colony, 18:00 away....
....but I stumble upon a new save point, save, too late.
Wife is pissed.

At the beach now, hopefully she'll cool off by Friday ;-)

P.S.
I fed the antelope. It is my friend now, follows me around with a huge smiley face emoji above its head.

This ice planet that I'm on has a lot of gold. A LOT.
Is this good for anything to build? Trading maybe?

Get that gold! Get it all! I found a huge deposit last night which all in all gave me around 200 "pieces".

In my system, I sold the lot for just shy of 100k.

When you get out of the atmosphere of the planet, get to a space station asap.

I can understand the people finding it a little boring, I've been pretty lucky with my planets so far. Space travel doesnt get old though, so cool.

If you find a Terminal station, you can "call" your starship to you. It costs one bypass chip, which you can make with 10 iron and 10 plutonium. =)

The inventory system is kind of a drag. Sure you can buy more inventory slots for your backpack or get a larger ship but crafted upgrades for your ship or for your character consume one of those inventory slots which seems kind of silly.

I spent a lot of time exploring one planet (think I collected around 20 translated words and got my backpack up to 18 slots) and you can easily see how the procedural generation is creating the points of interest. I need to see other planets in more depth but if the repeated nature of those points of interest are consistent through out, exploring is going to get old quickly. At least the ships and creature are interesting.

So after playing for a few hrs:

When do you start getting suit space upgrades. Got plenty of beam upgrades for my ship/multi tool, new ship, and almost 40 gek words but no inv bps. Bps are reusable right?

Also where do I get Atlas keys for the station doors/containers?

Liking it so far. Got a crashed ship and some ruins to explore tomorrow from solving some puzzles.

To answer the suit upgrade question
Find one of the objects with the laser beam going into space and use a bypass chip on it (you need to craft it). If you select Shelter you'll find a place on the planet with a suit upgrade in it. I found one with a free upgrade and one I had to buy, not sure if it is progressive or random

Not sure about the Atlas keys, I suspect you'll find blueprints as you progress through the game.

First one is free, increases by 10k each time after.

So does Sony being a distributor have something to do with why the game is only available from a select few merchants on PC? Or was it Hello Games choice to do that I wonder?

Fuck me this game has ruined my day.

I was all like let me play for an hour then I'll go eat, do some work and play maybe an hour more before I go to the cinema with the wife tonight to see suicide squad tonight.

5 hours have no passed, I haven't eaten and I haven't done any work. Have to go to the cinema in 2 hours. Maybe I shouldn't have bought this game yet. I'm worried about the impact it might have on my life.

And I've only been to 2 planets so far...

is there a reason why this is selling for upwards of £15 more then anything else on the platform? (PS4)

honestly its the only thing stopping me buying this atm.

Haha that was me last night. Spent 3 hours streaming the game and I finally had to call it quits because I needed to eat. Then another 3 hours afterwards.

No... No. Don't Starve is great. It's fun, engaging, has personality, and feels like there are things you really want to work towards. I don't even know how to describe NMS beyond a big empty boring blah.

I got bored with Don't Starve inside of an hour. I've played NMS for almost 30. What one wants out of a survival game is a very subjective thing.

I adore Don't Starve and proudly call it one of my favorite games ever. I realize not everything is for everyone, but as someone who is receptive to procedurally generated games with survival or crafting or whatever, I just couldn't find a way to like NMS in my couple hour with it. I may try a bit more later but it's not looking good for me.

Honestly the game only gets better hour on hour. I'm still discovering new systems, mechanics and gameplay 15 hours in. Give it another while.

Obviously no beef if it still doesn't grab you.

Ok, thanks for the response. I always thought this was the case but wanted to make sure.

That person is talking shit. There are puzzles in this game which haven't been shown before.

After watching Jim's Jimpressions, I've decided to cancel my pre order for now. His criticisms about the worlds and animals feeling samey and "cardboard" (re: procedurally generated), I feel like those sorts of immersion breakers coupled with the environmental hazards would lead to frustration and boredom rather quickly. My fears surrounding this game have been realized, it seems.

I'm not saying that the game is going to be bad, I've just had it seemingly confirmed that it isn't for me.

yeah, after watching the Jimpression I wanted to cancel my pre-order..but fucking preload of games on the ps4 busted it :/ was already installed. so no canceling for me. I'll try it out and hope to like it more than Jim did.

Still looking forward to it tho. I love exploration in games.

I used the pre order bonus code from Amazon that I got this morning without knowing exactly what it is, and I'm worried that the bonus (a ship that works from the start of the game) is going to ruin the early game. Does anyone have any experience with this yet? I won't be able to play until I get home tonight.

Also, I can't figure out any way to delete an add on item on PS4.

Just played my first hour via remote play during lunch break. I feel like I'm already getting the hang of it. Got lost inside a cave with tons of plutonium and found a huge E
meril
rock outside. Not sure how rare that stuff is but I mined that buddy completely. Left with more than a full 250/250 stack. Then went on my merry way to a waypoint in the distance and the game froze completely. Lost all progress...
At what points does the game save?
I hope this doesn't happen again. I'll have to try again after work.

I can already see that this game will keep me busy for quite some time! I don't mind the slow pace. My first planet is toxic and pretty barren. Seems adequate!

So does Sony being a distributor have something to do with why the game is only available from a select few merchants on PC? Or was it Hello Games choice to do that I wonder?

Sony being a marketing partner wouldn't have an impact on where Hello can sell its own game. The reason is simply that, at the end of the day, having your game on more stores means more oversight (even if it's a Steam key, there's still the matter of approving/opting into sales). Consider The Witness, for instance: it's only available on Steam, GOG and Humble.

Pretty sure you have to unlock it in game, if you don't you won't have it.

What price are you seeing the game at? also what price do you normally buy new releases at?

Currently you can get it for £44 and upwards, that's about £4 more than "the norm".

The reason it's this price is because retailers know it's in demand and they don't have to price it down to get it to sell.

I got my copy for £37, there have been multiple times leading to release where it's been below £40. Just wait and bit and buy it from ebay second hand or wait on shops dropping the price in a couple of weeks if money is an issue.

"Due to operating conditions, your package may be delayed. / Delivery will be rescheduled."

Welp, guess I'm not playing today.

Avoid using it until you finish the tutorial - https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/4wv1ac/the_pre_order_ship_is_a_huge_problem/

I wish I would have known this sooner. :(

Like every resource survival game ever.

Seriously though, this is why I stay away from resource survival games. Almost every one devolves into a mindless, uninteresting core gameplay algorithm: walk around for hours looking for a handful of resources. Get resources. Repeat. It's not compelling for me, although I understand why some people like the building/crafting aspects of such games.

I've been following No Man's Sky as long as every else and the core gameplay mechanics have always been a huge concern for me. Yes, a billion trillion randomly generated worlds. Yes, space flight and whatnot. But what is the core gameplay?

No Man's Sky looks like it's pulled off resource survival in a much more stylish way, but at its core it seems firmly based on that paradigm. Speaking just for myself, it doesn't look fun.

Given more time and more content reveals/implementation, maybe it'll turn into that dynamic thriving space exploration experience it was hyped to be, but right now it just looks like another resource survival game.
Bingo!

Summarized the concerns I've had with this game perfectly.

Watching the pre-release streams made it very clear that the core gameplay loop left a lot to be desired. Mindlessly walking around to gather more elements to fill meters, to then gather more elements to build things, to then travel to new planets and start all over again. Sprinkle some sense of discovery through a light narrative and the ability to name things. That's basically what I would consider the core gameplay loop of No Man's Sky.

I have the game pre-ordered on PC, so I intend to try it briefly before I decide if I want a refund on not.

Neither of you have played the game.

It has a story. A directed, point-to-point adventure. If you get bored of the survival stuff, tracking down the story content is really compelling and opens up sets of new mechanics/systems. This isn't like Minecraft or DayZ where all you do is survive and travel forever. There is an actual progression here.

Honestly there are about five things that Hello Games could tell people about that would sell them immediately.

Two questions:

-Do you find 'evidence of life" everywhere? On every planet you go to?
-Are the sentinels everywhere?

Basically, what I'm asking is, are there places in the games universe that are completely desolate? No alien stuff, no man made structures, etc?

This fucker still hasn't shipped for me from Amazon. Still says that it should arrive by 8pm today though. I still believe it, but this is the latest I've ever had a preorder ship out of Amazon for me. Usually it happens around 8pm the night before.

Can you elaborate a bit on the systems hidden initially?
