Not quite sure what you're talking about here. All retail games go for around £40. If not more in shops like GAME and such. Online you can shave a fiver off. I bought Witcher 3 at launch on GOG for £39.99.

I'll never understand the price argument. There is plenty of content here with free updates. I paid full price (£40 from their website) for Elite: Dangerous and they decided to charge an extra £20 to be able to land on rocky moons in an expansion.

Pricing is all down to you and how much you think you will get out of a game. I would of bought Rocket League for for £40 if I had known how mnay hours I ended up playing on it.

Been buying games online for ages and usually spend £30-35 on new titles if I need them day 1. Less if I wait a bit.

Yeah I know I'm stingy, but there's too many games I play/want to play and not enough time. No point in me buying stuff at full blown retail when it so often drops within a month.

'Push retail to RRP'? What? This is a huge game which is well designed and has loads of great content. How much is appropriate for that?

Definitely. Absolutely. I can't wait for VR PC mods. It's going to be a masterpiece.

For me? What I spend on other games.

People need to chill, this isn't a criticism of the game itself, but me not wanting to spend £40+ on a game when I can't remember the last time I did.

Either way, I'll join everyone soon enough.

I'm about 6 hours in.

So far I've upgraded to a new ship twice, added three new inventory slots to my suit, upgraded my multi-tool four times - one of which I bought from a totally-not-shady alien dude selling totally-not-shady tech out of dufflebag at the trading post, learned over 50 words in two different alien languages, discovered all but one of the planet's animals plus another 20-something plants, broke into multiple 'facilities' and stole their tech - which I now have like 25 new technologies unlocked...

... and I haven't left my freakin' starting planet. This god damn game is going to ruin my life.

And to talk about how wildly different experiences can be - I started on a giant, tropical planet full of plants, animals and minerals. My wife, on the other hand, started on a small, desolate wasteland with super-high radiation, almost no plants, no animals, minimal resources and the most aggressive and angry Sentinels I've seen yet. I've been frolicking through alien plains while she's in a constant fight to simply survive.

It's hilarious.

I just had a wonderful conversation with UPS about my game. It ended with the guy yelling at me that release date delivery isn't a thing and its always the day after.

after so many smashed LE and now shipping problems Amazon can go fuck themselves.

My current location has 3 planets. One of them is extremely irradiated but has rare materials. Doing some farming so I can get that paper.

So are there tons of ships you can find and purchase in NMS?

Or only a handful....?
If you are talking individual ships, they're procedural. Near infinite.

If you mean ones that look dramatically different, can't put a number on it yet, but I've seen... Lots

After surviving for 46 days in Stranded Deep (going through my Steam backlog these past few weeks, including Legend of Grimrock 1&2 and both Metro 2033 games), the game crashed my computer last night and the save is now either corrupt or gone, with the consequence of having to restart from scratch...

Right on queue to allow me to enjoy NMS tonight!

Sounds like she's on a planet similar to mine. My home planet was literally a desert with very few animals, but tons of materials to farm. The 2nd planet was freezing cold at night and I had to find caves to maintain my suit temp or else it dropped like a rock. The 3rd planet is just a wasteland with nothing but materials. No life located yet on it.

Damn I want this to happen with me and my girl haha. So I guess there are multiple save files or do you got two ps4s?

Not sure that kind of gameplay affecting RNG that early on in the game speaks favorably of the game.

i think that might yield in similar results. i get the feeling your starting point is based off your name or something you can't change.

Maybe its tied to your unique PSN ID number and that's why Sony has been unwilling to allow name changes for so long. :)

That's a really cool idea for the seed generation, but I would hope its not the case because people would ideally like to start at a new place each time.

I can't imagine how Sean and the team are feeling right now. With all of the delays, I know they only wanted to put this game out when it was good and ready, and it is quite literally their baby. They must be equal parts stoked and terrified.

My most anticipated game of all time, and I cannot wait to play it tonight.

Come up with the perfect analogy for this game.... It's like Christmas day - the game!

The planets are our *presents *, but until we unwrap (land on em) we don't know what we're going to get. :)

I mean, I'm 50,been gaming for 40+ years and this game has me grinning and gasping at times. It's just a very, VERY cool game that I can see myself playing for a long time. :)

Also, can I find a damm atlas card? Nope!

Is there any easy way to find your starting location again? I see you can upload waypoints in options but there doesn't seem to be a way to track them.

I went up into orbit and tried to come back down to where I was but lost it due to planet size.

The gameplay loop is addictive as just about any I've experienced. The whole needing to find something and having just about no idea where it is would appear on the surface to be frustrating, but in this setting, it works so well.

Nah I made it off, but every planet I've found so far has been equally crappy save for one or two.

Have you left your starting system? I found that all the planets in my starting system had similar fauna and flora, as well as a similar looks to them(Destitute, mainly rocky, greenish sky).

I've watched some streams of this, my only complaint is that distance is depicted by time, not some kind of unit, because it's very hard to gauge distance as it flops up and down based on speed.
