To put that into perspective and explain some of the bafflement here in Europe: the last time someone even remotely close to Trump was up in the presidential race in France in 2002, he lost by 65% (no that's not a typo).

Then again, we had Brexit just a month ago...

eh... I dont know front national is extremely popular in france i hear

How is he not disqualified yet? There's a line in the sand, and he keeps crossing it. At what point will people wake up and make him ineligible for office?

He got cheers when he said he wanted to commit war crimes, so, I don't think a line matters anymore.

Its obvious Trump wants out and doesn't want to be President. But his little ego won't let him. So he is trying to tank in the polls and be removed by GOP. Just look what he has said over the last couple weeks.

Yeah I don't think Trump wants the responsibilities of being President, but at the same time, he doesn't want to lose the election.

I still think he'd be more happier with starting Trump News - a hard right news site for REAL MURRICANS ala Breitbart.

Unfortunately the comment isn't direct enough to be really damning. No Trump supporters and I doubt most floating voters will see it as a big deal.

I guess Hillary's secret service is on full alert again -as if there weren't enough threats made against her life.

It's ridiculous he would even say anything that could be interpreted in this fashion, but at this point it's to be expected from him; when you're just all talk with no real policies to benefit the American people.

Can't wait for the debates

If floating voters don't see direct call for murder as a big deal they're Trump fan to begin with.
I mean : "Hey I don't really think trump calling for people to kill or maim hillary is that damning, would maybe vote for him."?

Well, the polls are showing that people are getting fed up. But it's ultimately up to the candidate to drop out.

Trump wants to be America's figurehead. His son said as much when they offered Kasich the VP spot and offered him control of domestic and foreign policy.

When asked what Trump would be doing, the answer was "Making America great."

But a candidate for President can't be that foolish. His intent is largely irrelevant, leaving any room for some shit stain to misinterpret what he was saying is nearly as bad as being direct.

1998: What the meaning of "is" is? Nice try, Slick Willie!

2016: Frankly when evaluating what Mr. Trump says you have to consider that all language is is an artificial construct of structured noises given arbitrary meaning through culture. As a result his sentence could have meant anything at all, or even nothing

Frame this post.

Man, this guy. It's getting hard to dismiss the plant conspiracies now, lol. This is probably the worst thing he has said so far. Actively encouraging people to kill a presidential nominee or eventual US president.

What's more disturbing to me is even if he loses in Nov, the seeds he's planting now will continue to have effect after the election. We don't need more nuts.

It has been pretty clear ever since his campaign started that he is causing potentially irreparable damage to the American psyche.

So he wants to be popular...or worshiped

After re-reading Preacher recently I keep comparing him to the comic's depiction of God.

Because it's not a direct call for murder. There's enough vagueness there to muddy the waters and blame it on "PC gone mad".

I agree. But for people not already completely appalled by Trump I don't think it'll matter too much.

You know, i was really disturbed by this, but couldnt watch the video, and now that ive seen it, i have to say he literally meant exactly what he said. It has the right tone and everything Trump playfully does when he says obscene shit. He literally implied using their guns on her. Everything is disgusting. And i have to work with people that believe in these values every damn day too. Science deniers, religious nuts, gays choose to be gay, dont touch my guns etc etc i cant take it anymore. My fuckin boss/ceo today was literally telling me how science is almost always wrong and we arent causing global warming cause the scientists have agendas. He wanted to pitch an article how some guy thought the data was being manipulated. I got mad and didnt really know what to say so i just left. I cant respond to these people, especially egomaniacs that think they are geniuses, oh and control my fucking income.

So in these week we've gone from "the polls are skewed" to "well imagine polls don't exist" to "Hillary will be struck down by disease" to "maybe the Second Amendment folks will 'do something' once she's President."

What wonders will next week bring

"I've been talking to some of the Old Gods. The Oldest. You wouldn't believe how old some of these gods are. Now, if we just pledge ourselves to them...."

Lately yes, at 20 to 25% of the popular vote (before Brexit, let's see if that hopefully hurt them), and that is scaring the shit out of the sane french. And that is with a seriously weakening economy and high unemployment.
Americans seem like to be "shill, he isn't even at 40% of the vote"...

To anyone that wants to portray this as liberals intentionally misconstruing his statements, look at the crowd of Trump fans behind him and watch their reactions.

Many are laughing because they appreciate his joke (about assassinating Hillary). The rest of them look shocked or nervous after he says it.

Even the people at a fucking Trump rally took it that way. BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HE FUCKING MEANT.

Next week nothing. This is only Tuesday.

I'm not convinced that Trump was implying what everybody seems to think he was implying.

But maybe he is and the issue is that I simply cannot wrap my brain around the fact that a presidential candidate would actually advocate assassination. My brain sees this input and just throws up a giant red X.

BZZZZZT DOES NOT COMPUTE. INPUT NOT ACCEPTED.

So that's it, then.

I mean, I'm was already clear on what he was implying, but as other people have said, he left himself just enough wiggle room. "I'm not actually advocating for that at all! Look at the media and how unfairly they treat me!"

His supporters will eat up that narrative. The rest of the country, not so much.

Admittedly, I was one of those Teflon Don people you guys are calling out earlier, and it's good to see him taking heat in the polls, but I'm still not underestimating him. It's not over until it's over, and I won't be relieved until it's over.

...

Or when he has a temper tantrum during the debates and calls her a bitch. That would probably be enough for me to let down my guard again.

In retrospect, I think he indeed did mean that '2nd Amendment people' doing something about it meant that the NRA should in effect defy the will of the people and interfere in our government. Still, it could easily be interpreted by the fools that listen to him as a call to violence. In any case, it's still one of his greatest hits.
