Someone tell me it't not going to always take like 30 minutes to get to places on planets!

Also, leaving the first planet and then going super speed or whatever it's called was breathtaking.

Leave the atmosphere, boost around the planet then come back down. That will cut travel time so much.

Wait, swapping to a new ship wipes your ship inventory?!

Yeah I learned that the hard way. Remember to transfer your shit.

Following the
Atlas Path
and really enjoying myself. I took the
black hole choice
but realized I was more interested in the lore so I decided not to go that route.

Game is cool. Are the severs down for everyone? I'd like to upload my stuff and make some cash.

Grah! OK, What upgrade increases the range of animal scanner? I have the 2 and 3x range of the scanner, but stupid flying animals are too far, is there a visor upgrade I'm missing?

I have these flocks of really cool looking giant butterfly things, but they're always too far and have these little red dots over them. I want to scan them. :(

Been playing since I got home from work and just wanted to report in. Had an incredible time with this game tonight, played for about...6 hours or so.

At first I was disappointed with my irradiated first planet. I figured I'd die pretty quick and straight off felt overwhelmed with all the info being thrown at me. Realizing I could hide in caves (or even create one of my own) to deal with the radiation was a huge boon though; it made exploring so much easier. I struggled with inventory management like everyone else and was disappointed when I found a few upgrades I couldn't afford. Then I realized how I could cash in on all of my discoveries and went from 5,000 units to about 100k in seconds. That helped a ton.

Long story short, I finished my tasks to get off planet in the first hour, but spent the next several hours combing my first world and I'm so glad i did. Like i said at first I was disappointed in it, but I ended up finding so many Gek words, fauna, flora, a new multitool, ruins, a few trading colonies, it was so much fun. I'm glad I ended up staying on that first world and seeing what I could find. And getting to name everything! There are at least 3 or 4 planets in my first system and I'm looking forward to renaming them all and just about everything in them. It's kind of endearing, despite despite all of the stupid names I've used so far.

Finally made it off planet, made it to a space station and bought a sweet ship off someone. Moved onto the next planet which is the complete opposite of the first (water everywhere, lush, healthy looking). Just wish I could rename my ship! Fantastic time with this game today. Hope others are enjoying it as well.

Pretty nice close to the first day of adventuring.

Finally made it to my first space station. Home world had toxic rain but it wasn't too bad.

The game is fun so far, going to take my time and enjoy things. I'm not loving inventory management though, definitely a pain.

I really need some help, guys. I've jumped a few times and my current mission is telling me to go to some abandoned building, which I've visited. I can't do anything in said building. Has anyone experienced this?

Well, I've played for over 8 hours and everything just keeps being awesome. It has become very much a cliche when talking about it, but this game really isn't for everyone and I can completely understand why someone wouldn't like it. But it just captures a mind frame I've shared since I first watched Star Wars and realized I'd rather be meandering absolutely aimlessly through those places than to be watching the movies themselves.

Absent-mindedness gaming at its absolute best.

Played for about 8 hrs today after work, this game is going to take a lot of my life. Its so easy to get sucked in, this game is immersive as hell. The only thing this game is missing is 60fps and VR

Had my first game crash right after 3 pirates fucked my shit up.

Has to hard reboot the PS4 to get NMS to load again, and all the loot from my Ship is gone. Curse you Space Pirates!!

My eyes feel heavy as hell, time to call it a night I suppose. Was a great marathon session, can't wait to jump back in tomorrow.

Think I've come to the conclusion that the game, in its current state, probably isn't for me.

Spent another 3hrs with it (6 in total), found a crashed ship and decided to swap over and was faced with another ton of resources to collect, started wondering around trying to find some Thallium or whatever it's called, got bored and turned it off.

I don't think the world's are varied enough to hold my interest, I've seen lots of world's, personally and on many streams, that just look too samey, same goes for the animals.

The mechanics aren't deep enough to hold my interest, the resource collection and inventory management are extreme, but I guess that does go with the territory with these kind of games.

Hopefully they can flesh out some of the systems in future patches, but as it stands I just find it a bit boring.

I'll try and come back to it again tomorrow, but despite the lure of potential new and fantastic world's and animals I can't help get the feeling that I've seen and done most of what's on offer.

Glad lots of people are enjoying it though, seems like the team have done a great job of providing a product that a lot of people enjoy.

I guess I shouldn't have waited to upload my discoveries. I was sorting through a half dozen planets I'd visited and realized I didn't upload everything, just the creatures and locations, and when I went to register the planets, I saw some I visited towards the beginning of the game were already claimed by other players.

Also, I'm not really getting any new major 'story' quests or anything. I turned down the Atlas and redeemed the dlc ship before reading about that whole issue, but I've gone through the whole hyperdrive quest and built the fuel and everything.

The game has just suggested that I continue building warp fuel, no other suggestions. I try to visit a dozen or so points of interest on every planet, and have good ranking with both the Gek and Va'ykeen; am I missing out on something obvious?

Edit: upgraded the hell out of my suit, too. I think I have over 20 slots by now, which makes more extensive exploring a little less annoying (though it still sucks not being able to stack trading commodities)

Isn't this one of those portals?

My old ship would hold the targeting reticle out ahead of enemy ships to tell me where to shoot in advance to land hits. My new ship doesn't and now I can't hit the broad side of a barn. Anybody know what the weapon/upgrade that has that feature is?

Has anyone found any tech that lowers the amount of resources used by your pulse engines each time you want to get off the ground?

25% seems a little steep when I only want to fly a minute or two away while staying on the planet.

Also I'm disappointed that the LE theme isn't really dynamic.

Otherwise I'm really enjoying the game thus far. Found and repaired my first crashed ship. A lot of work getting it up and running again, but makes me appreciate that much more.

I'm gonna be a space cowboy and sing that they can't take the sky from me:)

Hope that the crashing isn't on PC. Not promising to lose progress due to that.

For those who've gotten far in, does the gameplay loop ever change? Or is it just going to be the same pattern of finding waypoints, space pods, and language stones on just about every planet, with the occasional space battle thrown in? Just wondering, because I've only been to maybe 7 or so planets and they've all been exactly the same thing. I don't know if I can manage that for many more hours
Kinda feeing this fatigue a bit.

On my third system, and I thought hours 2-8 were absolutely sublime. Like magical. But new stuff has dried up, and I kind of feel like I'm stuck in a loop of samey fetch quests.

I might just stop exploring and try to power through the main path.

Played about three hours tonight and the time just flew by. What an amazing experience so far. I absolutely hated the system I started on, though. Toxic and drab, couldn't wait to fly off. I'm assuming crafting your own warp fuel is the last of the tutorializing?

I got to the second story choice I guess, and
was offered some assistance in a variety of ways, including the option to rejoin the Atlas (undoing my original choice?). I chose a shortcut to the center, which added a black hole WP to my galactic map.

Cool. Really don't want to restart this save. Looking for a fighter to buy to see if my drive comes or not.

Hopefully they can patch this soon either way

Hmm.

So, on the story stuff, I just found
The first Atlas Interface where you get an Atlas stone.

How long until I get an atlas pass and/or story choices >_>;

Actually I lied, just checked and I warped over 800k in a black hole.

You get an atlaspass in a space anomaly. That's how I got mine.

Only played about an hour and so I have not even left my starting planet. Barren, warm but not dangerous.

So far, so good. I have to see that, if I put a fair amount of hours in, the resource gathering and exploring will remain fun. Atmosphere and soundtrack is absolutely amazing, though.

I can not wait to put a fair amount of hours into it tonight.
