Some of these tech upgrades need better descriptions.
I cannot tell the difference between Theta, Sigma, or Tau upgrades. Some of them all say the same thing.
The game does not make it obvious if a Theta upgrade is better than Sigma or Tau and vice versa. Hopefully this is eventually clarified.

Its perfectly defensible, its a conscious design decision not an oversight, they're going for the same sort of obfustication that you saw a lot in older games and has seen something of a popular revival due to stuff like the Souls series. I can take or leave it, the main problem with it is that its often done quite poorly, a lot of designers cant seem to grasp the difference between being mysterious and being deliberately obtuse.

Can anyone confirm or deny if there is a solar system map to show you the planets and moons in the system you are currently in?
You need to continue onward and see if you obtain the hyperdrive blueprints. If you haven't left your starter planet you probably are fine. What quests do you have currently?
If you can craft hyperdrives as a tech in your inventory, you are not affected by the bug.

So you have actually jumped to another system using a hyperdrive, landed on a planet and have not received some transmission with a marker? Because thats what happened to me. After I landed on a planet in a new system I got a transmission with a marker. It was literally just a linear path to meet the NPC that gave me the blueprint.
But it's just fucking flavour text, it's meaningless, shallow as a puddle like the rest of the game
Appreciate your time for the response. I haven't gotten a hyperdrive blueprint yet.. I guess I will push ahead and hope I get it!

It means you won't get the hyperdrive blueprints. You need to be careful when buying ships, now. Check to make sure they have a hyper.

I had to find some enemy ships and destroy them. They were attacking bigger ships.

Nah man, there's a big difference between discovering the universe's secrets and not even knowing how your own suit's upgrade system works, or what the icons on your HUD represent. It makes no sense from a narrative POV and causes a lot of unneeded frustration. Because what's the difference from having an instruction screen or a PDF vs. us seeing your post? Nothing. And if you really think finding out how the upgrade system works contains "mystery and wonder", then you just spoiled that for the rest of us.

Correct, I jumped using the drive on the dlc ship (which I have since sold and cant re-redeem). I have no quest/transmission and have landed on all 5 planets in my current (2nd) solar system.

If you have the mining lasers, use those against pirates instead of the Photon Cannons. They lock on, and it can take out a ship in 4 or 5 hits. Also, invest in a deflector upgrade.

I get that, but this is bigger than what I like vs. what he/she likes. This is about people who are so self entitled, selfish, greedy, and ignorant that they feel some pretentious and self righteous need to disparage good, hard working people who poured their blood, sweat, and tears into a game that they're incredibly proud of just because it's not what he/she wanted. There are people who are literally harassing and insulting people because they didn't get the game that they DESERVED and that the good people at Hello Games were SUPPOSED to deliver because some lowlife feels he's the center of the universe (lol see what I did there). It's disgusting and despicable behaviour, and these people are the worst of the worst. I'll guarantee you that these behaviour patterns don't just stop at games and extend into their everyday life as well. They're just a bunch of miserable bastards, who spend countless hours on this forum because nobody can deal with them in the real world.
So yeah, I'm embarrassed and ashamed to even slightly consider myself like those people. We all fall under the title of "gamer" and those people I mentioned are the loudest and end up holding the flag for all of us. For every decent gamer, there's 10 shitty ones. It's sad.

I have no problem with games leaving things for players to discover on their own, or for the community to discover things together. It's part of the reason why I love the Souls series and I'm glad some of that is in NMS.

After all this hype I have buyed the game today, allthough I wasn't impressed by it before...And well, I'm still not hyped. The beginning is super lame and bad. They just throw you on some random planet and you have to repair your ship. But nobody is explaining to you how the game is played. My planet was very boring. Just stones, no life and the resources quite far away. But this was somehow managable and I learned how things were going. Then I started the spaceship and went to space and the next planet was 10 minutes away. Yes, TEN MINUTES. I have never been so bored by a game as this, because I was only staring at this screen, holding O and waiting until the timer was done. I pray that the hyperdrive will fasten this up. Because I really have better things to do than stare at a boring screen for 10 minutes or more. A colleague is telling me that the next planet for him is 3 hours away

1. people that put upgrades in the wrong place and now to have waste money/time making them again
2. people (like me at least) that see icons in the UI that are unexplained. What does that gold star on items in the trading screen mean? Who knows. If you enjoy playing a meta-game of trying to understand the UI, then I guess you've got no worries. But most people would consider this basic stuff that should be explained.

I'm taking the trader path by the looks of things. Found a station that is paying 128 units for Titanium. Pilots in the hangar are selling them for 80 units. Literally back and forth but making decent money from it.

The difference between having an instruction screen and seeing his post is that you went to the community for help. That's how this is supposed to work. I look forward to the mechanical systems and secrets being worked out to within an inch of their lives in short order and then I'm sure all the wikis will have quick and dirty guides so that you never need ask anyone for help, but this is how it is meant to go in the early days.
