Final fantasy XV might have 3 theme songs

No. But she has zero input on the Florence cover of Stand By Me. I just feel it shouldn't be included in the first place. Sort of like the Breaking Benjamin song in Halo 2 for example. Just not needed.

I think it would be a bummer if all of these songs were covers, but I don't think they are. The other two don't sound like famous songs.

I don't know man, I went to classic mode in the anniversary edition just to hear it while blasting the covenant. It also got me into BB. It's effective shit

Gotcha. Yeah maybe the two other songs are great for all I know. I'm just a bit hesitant of their inclusion, though it's possible that they may be tasteful or that the instrumentals could then be used and rearranged for in game use that won't come off as an out of place use of a licensed sounding track.

For sure. I can't deny that it's a good form of exposure for an artist. To some degree it comes off sort of very of its time though. For example the work that Trent Reznor did for Quake is fitting. It's just music done for the purpose of being a soundtrack for a game. I would balk at it if suddenly during the game "Closer" started to play. Would seem a little too marketing-like.

Then again, the cover of "Fly Me to the Moon" from Bayonetta 1 (is it in 2? Can't remember) was incredibly fitting, but it wasn't like and here is Christina Aguilara hyping up the game.

I dislike the trend of using a popular artist to sing a cover of a song as part of marketing for any game. Gears 1, fine. Didn't seem overdone in 2006. Final Fantasy though? Have some confidence lads in the incredible composers you have at your disposal. Yoko Shimomura deserves the spotlight.

Florence and the Machine is a much more marketable group that will bring in a mass audience. Yoko's music will be the center of the game itself, of course.

Heads up: When I clicked on the link, it took me to Apple Music and you can play the full song. So you might wanna try that (I'm on mobile here)

Stand by Me is still such a beautiful cover.

Are they confirmed to be in the game? Or OP just assuming?

I don't know if you can preview the songs in iTunes itself but I can't on the browser page, although the source has links to 30-second previews. So I thought I'd link them here for everyone:
Too Much is Never Enough
Stand By Me
I Will Be
I'm not one to judge songs by their 30-second previews... but Somnus is better.

I want the full version of stand by me so much. It's fucking beautiful and I will be snippet sounds pretty good as well

Not available on German iTunes :(

Judging by order of songs:
Too Much is Never Enough - Opening
Stand By Me - Ending
I Will Be - Prologue

Update:
Too Much is Never Enough - Prologue
Stand By Me - Opening
Somnus - Ending
I Will Be - Epilogue

I think you can hear the "prelude theme" from final fantasy in Stand by Me. This must be something Shimomura did.

They're going for a very particular type of vibe and Stand By Me is a perfect fit for the game so they either use a cover or license out the original.

And they got a damn good cover.

Listened to these 3 songs

Stand by Me : you know already about it
Too much is never enough : it's a pop song. We can hear the name
Luna
? I don't know where they can put that song aside of the car...
I Will Be : A song that I can only see in the car or in the credits. It's a very "vocal" one. You can hear some words behind, with "I will be" and some Ohhh Ohhhh Ohhhhhhhhh. I really love it.

I feel you on the time period ordeal. Everything final fantasy has been basically orchestrated for its own purpose. I think afaik this is the first time we have had unoriginal music for a theme by them. Unoriginal meaning it's not origin of source or new specifically curated for the game but that of which was picked and redone for it. While all past FFs themes were composed and made specifically for that game giving it a much more unique flare to it.

I Will Be is so pretty, I can't wait to see how they will use it in game if it is indeed part of FFXV.

What? Nomura did special artwork for her tribute album recently with a message hoping for her return.

She didn't have the best time working Disney or SE on the game. I heard from under payed to ridiculous obligations.

Nomura can only do so much, seeing how I think Disney is in charge of the business side of KH.

She hasn't come back for any of the KH games since 2, hell even during her retirement she did stuff for the Eva 3 movie.

According too a 2009 interview, Disney payed her very little for all the work she did for the songs bringing them from Japanese to English and that she felt that it ruined the intergity of her work.

There is a lyric in Too Much Is Never Enough that specifically references one of the characters in the game
She mentions Luna specifically.... Who cares about the thing I did that night/So what maybe Luna had it right/And who cares if I'm coming back alive/So what at least I had the strength to fight
