After putting in a good 11hrs or so into the game it is rather repetitive, but the fact you can do what you like makes up for it.

Want to upgrade your suit as much as possible?

Want to go for the biggest ship storage?

Want to go for a full blown combat ship?

Want to dash to the centre?

Want to planet / system hop to see different things?

Want to stay on one planet gathring data?

Want to go round a system stripping valuable resources?

Want to blow holes through asteroids and barrel roll through them?

Want to chase ruins and learn a full language?

Want to go one a full retard sentinel destruction rampage?

Want to murder every creature you see?

Want to fly around with cargo baiting pirate attacks?

Want to fight pirates through an asteroid field , through space and then down into a planets atmosphere to finish them off?

It's almost endless and can be very casually played.

I don't own the game, but I'm interested to know if anyone has come across anything (e.g. a planet or an animal species) that was previously discovered by another player?

I haven't been there yet, but I'm two jumps away from an Atlas station discoverd by 'ediblefrog'.

So I'm feeling like the fauna is already getting a bit samey only about twelve-fifteen planets in. The fauna remains fairly amusing thanks to weird combos, but the fauna is a different story.

The highlight of my last two hour session was finally landing on a planet that had basically no life on it.

Do you mean that the flora is samey? Cuz you typed fauna every time.

I'm really enjoying this. But I fell into an old habit. Spent the entire day on one planet. Since I was mostly moving on foot, completely forgot about the other planets! Gonna start setting a timer per planet.

Also wish they showed how much time was spent on each planet. That'd would be awesome.

Am I the only one that's been going to monoliths constantly, my head is fucked up with what they've been telling me, and it isn't logged on your system anywhere?

Uhhh I logged on and every one of the waypoints I unlocked using the beacon on this planet are.... gone........ Is that a bug or is that just a thing?

Welp guess I'm done on this planet then lol. Really don't care to find a beacon to get those up again. Maybe this was the game's way of saying "move on Bill" like a friend during a break up. But.... But so much Emeril. She was perfect.

There were a couple of species on my first planet that had been discovered by another player, however the planet and system were still undiscovered. I guess the generation algorithm churned out the same creatures on another planet somewhere.

It's awesome when you get enough words to be able to grab the meaning of a random sentence from a trader.

I've been to 10 planets and half have had no fauna, like 3 had no life at all. Lots of barren rocks out there in my galaxy.

One funny one had no flora... but abundant fauna. What do they eat?!?

Alright, anyone know the answer to this? I usually launch just to fly around the planet but sometimes I'll do something accidentally and it launches me straight into space. I'm assuming that's actually a feature but how do I take advantage of it when I actually do want to go into space (rather than spending a while going straight up hoping to escape atmosphere)?

My current goal is to build a ship with the best warping distance I can get it. Gonna run through the Atlas Stations then try for the galaxy center. I've really been enjoying the game but I know if I spend too much time on planets messing around I'll get burnt out.

Quick question: if you talk to an Atlas without the required Milestone amount will you get the chance to talk again after completing the necessary amount?

What do you mean impossibility....?

IMG_20160812_055855.jpg

It could totally happen :p

It's not even funny... Just stupid :(

How is that any more "impossible" than half of the aliens in Star Wars? It is a sci-fi game, you know.

Anyway, I'm done trying to 100% my starting planet; time to warp to another system.

PSA: The peak of the Perseids meteor showers is tonight, and this year is supposed to be extra good. Best time to see them is between midnight and dawn.

They hadn't been uploaded yet which is easy enough to miss, I forget to upload a planet and two moons worth of stuff and while you get a bit of money for the discovery the uploading is much more worthwhile.

Are you sure it wasn't that the creatures were categorised with the same name? In the discoveries menu some of the creatures that look similar will have the same name, I guess part of the same genealogical family. But when you scan them the first time, the pop-up says something like "already discovered".

Atlus V1 get.

Also, I found a underwater breathing tech at a manufacturing plant, but I can't figure out how to build it anywhere. Doesn't show up in any of my tech/craft screens. Oh well.

Delicious rocks of course!

I'm beginning to feel like something is...amiss...in my game. Have I missed or overlooked something?

I'm expecting to find at least an Atlas Pass, Recipe for Suspension Fluid, General Pointer in the right direction, some have mentioned Black Holes, Perhaps a faster warp system?

However I've warped into my 5th system and everything does feel same-y. I've lost the sense of progression and gained a nagging feeling I've missed something - but I don't know what.

It doesn't help that I have a message about collecting 1 more Anti-Matter to craft a warp core at the bottom of the screen. Collect anti-matter? From where? I've been crafting the stuff after buying all the suspension fluid I need. My Hyperdrive is currently at 75% after warping into the current system.

I found a system that someone had named Gay yesterday, but as of today it's reverted to it's previous name (I guess either someone complained or he spooked and restored its original name, if you can do that). There was a dinosaur on a planet in there named Caution Dad though and he's still in my log.

I'm pretty sure this must have been asked several times in this thread but I feel this is the best place to ask. Everyother thread seems to have extremes on both sides with opinions regarding this game.
I'm on the fence about the game but I really like the streams I'm watching. My only concern concern regarding the game is does it get boring and repetitive after a while?
Is there quests or goals that give you a reason to keep doing stuff or is it just a complete sandbox type experience with no goal other than to reach the center of the universe?

Question: I got a jetpack upgrade which says to activate it I need to install it "alongside the jetpack" in my inventory, but the life support and shield surround the jetpack. How can I install the upgrade if there's no adjacent slots?

You can, but if you have forgotten how many of them you've visited on your arrival of the 10th Atlas station you must NOT talk to it. You'll be locked out from talking to it again and it's the last Atlas station you'll encounter. Essentially it's a permanent lockout of the quest

Wait what? Can you explain this further?

Finally got my AtlasPassV1 yesterday from
those two NPCs. I was reeeaaally tempted to jump into the black hole but thought I'd stick with the Atlas route for now.
First I thought the Pass would be a one time use item like override chips but it actually stays after using it. Thank Atlas!

Reached my first two A
tlas
S
tations
. Eerily beautiful! I only found out at the second one that running over those
glowing orbs on the floor teaches you words
.
The next one is like 8 jumps away. Can anyone tell me what the Atlas
Stones
do without spoiling anything major? I wish more items in this game would stack...

Bought a new ship with 8 more slots than my DLC ship. Also got 3 or 4 exosuit upgrades. The resource juggling is finally gone. I have plenty of cash and fuel so I'm a little inclined to just jump from system to system to the next major waypoint without really visiting too many planets. On the other hand I feel like I would be missing out on alien language and schematics... The next waypoint is 8 jumps away. If I explored every system I'd probably be bored by the time I got to my destination.
Still can't put the controller down for now, though. What an amazing game this is.

It's probably been mentioned but an easy way to find recipes (such as suspension fluid) is to fly around a planet until you find one of those devices emitting a red beam. Hack it using a bypass chip and choose to find a Colonial Outpost. It always points you towards a manufacturing center.

After 20 or so hours I now feel familiar enough to venture a little further afield ....I need this Atlas Pass thing...how do I acquire?

Go to your galactic map and go to the waypoint tab. It should set your destination to some Atlas thing. Go there. I have a feeling this is a fairly common issue as I had the same problem.

I want to warp to another system but I've only been to three planets in my starter system. Still plenty around me left undiscovered. The feeling of leaving discoveries behind pains my soul.

So you plan on visiting every one of the however many billion planets there are? That's a brave undertaking.....

I am having very mixed emotions about this game. I pre-ordered on Pc. Went into a stream on the amount of a friend.

I love the colors. Thing is the randomness isn't really there and you really do the same thing over & over.

The repetitiveness is killing me. I checked a different stream and that guy was doing the same thing, mining the same stuff to refuel. He was much further in too.

I didn't expect combat or care about it, but they should have left it out or something.

I don't know man. I got it regionally priced before the hike and feel like I could use that money elsewhere. Really fifty fifty on this.

In my experience it got repetitive very fast. The basic gameplay loop never changes, land on planet>mine resources>find the same buildings>talk to static aliens that offer nothing more then a multiple choice question>maybe find a monolith>leave planet>repeat. The only time that changes is if you upgrade something (which just makes mining resources easier) or warp to a new system (giving you different planets to do the exact same thing on). There are two goals, but each are pretty shallow in that there is really no motivation to do either other then to do them. I am at most 10 hours in and am already tired of it.

If you don't like the streams I don't think you'll like the game. I watched hours of them, which is why I bought the game.

Played way longer than I initially planned last night...

Anyways, here's one critique. I do feel the limited inventory is not benefitting the game. I know it's on purpose and for a lot of games an important aspect but for NMS it stops me from exploring which I feel should be a major part of the game. I rarely just explore planets or mine stuff because I cannot carry shit anyways. So I just fly from POI to POI or do not land on a planet at all (at one point I crossed 3 systems without landing on any planet).

I believe it's just animal species. In the "Discoveries" tab there will be a list of "?????????" in the right side window. Just scan all of the creatures you find, and it should start to complete. Once you've scanned all of the creatures, you get 100% completion. I don't think you have to scan plants, but I scan them anyway because I want the money!

I still have 5 more discoveries to make before I'm done with this moon. I can't wait to get home!

Hmm, yeah, I still have one species left. WHERE.

I guess I'm playing differently than most.
I'm wreaking havoc on every planet now with my super up multitool which is way better than using the boltcaster addition. Mining lazer takes out creatures in a split second and makes everything else like I'm cutting through butter

I think I had a 2.4m ship crop up ....in general my wealth has never been over 200k TBH.....would be nice to farm something to flog, what would bet he best material/objects to sell?

Emeril is my favourite. 750 units could bring you 200k+ units

Purchased a new multitool purely as it looked awesome, the singe extra inventory slot was really not worth the price tag but this big green railgun looking thingy is just so damn shiny.

Nah they were marked as "Discovered by Mustard_Man" lol, which isn't my PSN name.

Seems weird he would upload and name them 2 animals but not a single other thing in the entire system of 6 planets. Hence why I assumed it was a case of the same creature appearing on another planet.
