Best thing I can say for people looking to get these items: go
into the space anomalies whenever you find them. Ask one guy for "resources for exploration", and access the second guy -- you'll need to complete his milestone -- for more stuff. These *may* be random, but I think they are primed for space travel / personal survival. I got 2 warp drive upgrades and atlas passes here
.

Ah! Thanks for the heads up. Heh, now I can choose wisely next time this occurs.

lol

The reviews are actually generous. I can't help but feel that the people loving this game are still wrapped up in their imaginations and the game's potential. It's gonna be a slap in the face when it becomes apparent that they wasted dozens of hours grinding towards nothing.

The journey is worth more than the destination.

That's why some people aren't complelled to go toward the end goal , Some of us are just enjoying landing on new planets and wrecking some shit.

And now you spoiled it for me by quoting him. Fucking great, I'm gonna know everything about this game before seeing if myself because people are fucking inconsiderate (him, not you, although you shouldn't have quoted it either).

Fixed. Didn't see the point considering he bolded the shit out of the ending and we're still on the same page, but sorry!

Guys, I currently only have a ship with 16 slots. I found a new one that looked ugly as hell and had only 1 slot more.

Is there a chance to find a ship that has like 24+ slots with my current one ? I feel like it's restricted to what I have right now so I can't find a big ship in the early game. Is that right?

Reposting for new page. Anyone ?

Is the ship you found bound to the ship you have, so big upgrades aren't possible?

Yeah, no worries. He made sure to spoil it AGAIN anyway. What a fucking douchebag, I don't understand how people can be such inconsiderate assholes. THERE'S A SPOILER THREAD FOR THAT SHIT. FUCK.

You deleted the save file? That get you the ending you wanted? Just sounds like you threw a fit cause you were disappointed. Did it retroactively make the hours you enjoyed up til that point suck?

Nope...had a lot of fun grinding out materials. Felt like a bored teenager again.
I think I've said multiple times that I had a lot of fun up until that point.

Playing toward nothing? Jesus, talk about not understanding the worth of the journey itself. Shit or non-existent endings don't determine the worth of everything that happened between the start and the ending. God forbid that all the people having a good time with what they are doing are actually doing just that, enjoying themselves.

An ending like: "Now you decide which of the 3 alien races will live and which must die!" eouldn't make any sense. The game for me at least is about how vast our universe is and how mindblowing it is if you think about it.
And I think ( I don't know it since I haven't reached the center of the galaxy) the "ending" is just that there are more galaxies, because the idea that there is a center of the universe where stuff happens is completely ludicrous.

You can only find crashed ships that have within 1 size of your inventory space, it's always like that. On the plus side, it's always like that, so I think technically you can find a ship and claim it, go back and activate another transmission, and then it'll find another ship within 1 of that, so you potentially keep upgrading ships without leaving the planet. You'll have to keep repairing the launch gear though.

I had the same question. i think I ended up buying one from the trade network aboard a space station.

im on my second system and the space station dont have antimatter..

Do you have the recipe for it? If so, you can make Suspension Fluid > Electron Vapour > Antimatter.

no recipe, im having a hard time finding that recipe. IGN guide told me that an alien will give me the antimatter recipe as the story progress, but i dont know which alien or where.

i do have the suspension fluid recipe..

Landed too close to a tower of aluminium, got stuck to it when I tried to take off. Ship eventually damaged to destruction and I died. Had to repair ship and then mine enough of the aluminium away from the ship to allow me to take off.

One thing I would have enjoyed is more entertaining traversal. Maybe not right away, but if you could eventually ski down slopes a la Tribes it would make simply moving around the world more fun. Maybe even a land transport vehicle that you could dock with your ship - if the driving mechanics were good, it could actually be a ton of fun. Especially if you had to manage it as well (ie - you could leave it behind, run out of fuel, etc). Just walking around all the time is tedious and discourages you from straying too far.

"I now can't enjoy this game that
has no ending
even though I'm actively arguing the ending is not the point of the game" -neogaf

How can you people not understand that even if
the ending is "nothing"
I didn't want to know that before seeing it for myself? Maybe it would have been disappointing, but not as disappointing as having the mystery ruined by inconsiderate assholes long before I'm even close to getting there. And STOP REPEATING IT. THIS ISN'T THE FUCKING SPOILER THREAD, YOU IDIOTS.

So I've really been enjoying the game.

Started off in a great system with 4 planets, pretty chill ones too. Today I decided to check out the last planet before leaving this system, and I'm glad I did because it was the best one yet.

Plenty of Flora & Fauna, pods everywhere, awesome looking trading post I haven't seen yet, manufacturing plant. Too cool.

Found almost all the Fauna within 10 minutes on the planet, I don't think I'm going to leave yet ^_^

I love this game.

makes me happy to see comments like this! this game is just amazing! :)

Agreed. I would love to have an actual garage with vehicles and different types of ships (combat, trading etc). Hopefully once we can buy freighters and bases they'll introduce something like that.

That said, I just discovered the melee + jetpack launch thing and it's made traversal much more fun.

Fixed my found spaceship, fixed its Tau Warp Drive that was preinstalled, and warped towards my first Atlas interface.
Now I can go to the beach and relax, a new chapter of space exploration awaits tonight.

So umm what's the best way to get warp reactor theta? I'm assuming just search for downed ships and hope one has it? Probably a good idea too because I don't like the my ship's design. I have a 48 slot ship so I guess the chances of finding one with theta are high.

You should try sprinting -> melee + jetpack (or melee + jetpack) if you haven't yet. It's a literal game changer.

P.S. I bolded that sentence because Tribes is the first thing I thought of when I first did it.

Using the melee bug to boost forward when you have a bunch of sprint / jetpack upgrades unlocked reminds me of titan-skating in Destiny -- it's so fast.

Really needs to be grandfathered into the game as a legitimate upgrade. It makes movement vastly more interesting and can even add to the strategy of rare item runs.

I think
Blackholes
are bugged

Everytime I have taken one it takes me essentially to a new system like... 500light years away

Also the Atlas path is a joke.

Actually, I found yesterday that a crashed ship's slot size is not determined until you actually interact with the crashed ship. So you can re-enter the Transmission puzzle multiple times to reveal different crash sites and then fly to them one after the other and keep getting ships with progressively more slots.

I went from 18-slots to 21-slots off of four crash sites I pinged when I had my 18-slot ship at a Transmission site (one crash site was a slot less). Also, by breaking down upgrades on the ships as you jump from one to the other, you can pick up some supplies needed to fix the next and a few extra rare minerals too.

Seriously people. Get the fuck out of the OT with ending spoilers 48 hours after launch. Jesus Christ. How is this a discussion?

But the journey has no worth. The crafting, resource gathering and exploration are all enjoyable on a basic level. But there is simply no reward in any of it and that's where the game collapses.

Grind dozens of hours and what will you have to show for it? A nicer ship and... longer sprint distance or whatever.. woo?

Like, if you could find a really cool planet, name it, build a small settlement, have some animals as pets, bring plant samples from different galaxies and grow them locally and have other players visit you... now THAT would be a cool game. Maybe someday NMS will be that game. But right now the only motivation to play is to get a gun that kills rocks faster.

If we're not being blinded by the hype because we're actually playing the game, we've gotta be blinded by how much we're currently enjoying it.

I'm not enjoying the game so much because I'm looking forward to an end result. Just like in any other game with grinding, you reach a point where you can't possibly improve anymore, you absolutely dominate everything, and you move on to the next game.

I would be pretty mad too. I'm just glad I read the spoiler thread when it appeared, so I could skip the whole crappy game.

lol

You guys only play games for their endings? Imagine applying this shallow view to something like the Souls series. Sometimes the journey is more important than the destination.

I just want to ask to make sure, but upgrades stack, correct?

For example, if I have a Theta upgrade already on something, and I install the Sigma upgrade, I'll benefit from having both?

Did you go to the Discovery page when you hit start and upload the completion? Should be a bar above the pictures of the animals you found that says 100%. Then hold X. :)
On a sidenote: of you're just in it for the trophy, you can land on a planet with zero fauna and upload the 100% and get the trophy for that.
Easy peasy!

I don't know about "finding" them as such but you can hang out in space stations and approach ships in the landing bay and buy them from there. I've got a 16 slot ship but I've seen plenty of 24-25 slots around for under 2m

lol

Yeah what if we were to discover all those fun hours of playing were actually for nothing.. oh.

Oh wow, that actually means it won't take that much work then, especially if you're starting off from a higher ship. How long did it take you to go from 18 - 21? I'll give it a go tomorrow.

What the fuck, just 100%-ed a planet, it said I had discovered 7/7 species, but on the Journey tab it still says I've discovered all species on 0 planets. Just broken buggy shit, or what's up?
The bar that says 100% completed, you have to press X on it to upload it and unlock the milestone.

I've spent the last 3 days in short bursts looking for nickel smh. I need that warp drive upgrade. Anyone know if I should be looking in caves or asteroids or what?

Oh, I'm trying this melee + jetpack thing. Didn't know about it!
