So,can your fucking photon cannon just be broken and not lock on anymore?

I just got killed by 4 pirates because my photon cannon refused to lock on and it kept telling me to "recharge it with oxide" when you CAN'T recharge photon cannons...

this game...

Is there a way buy it for like 40€ or less? 60€ is a joke price, this game does not deserve this price tag, especially all around the globe. Deus Ex cost in Poland almost half of NMS's price ;/

Also reading up on it, it seems like designers have never played any survival/inventory management/space sim game.

Hm. Three times it's happened to me now that I've discovered and uploaded, once even named a system (with online services clearly working), only to later find these systems claimed and "discovered" by someone else. Once this happened a day after my initial discovery, the other times just a few minutes or hours later. Has this happened to others?

I hope in an update they include more environment variety like dense forests, wetlands, rivers and streams. Maybe I just haven't come across any?

Rare but populated frontier towns would be cool too. I hope they plan to release a steady flow of content updates going forward.

Towns would be very welcome. And just more variety and things to do in general. I do still like the framework here and have had some fun. It is just far too shallow after a certain point, but hopefully updates will flesh it out. I will love revisiting it down the road for sure.

Playing this game stoned is bloody marvellous, especially when you get moments like the one at the end of this video, wandering about this great planet full of life and then I glimpse something truly odd in the distance, I was in stitches at this thing.

Man, I have a special 100% sativa-strain stash just for games like No Man's Sky, Starbound, Minecraft, Euro Truck Sim 2 etc.

SO GOOD. I haven't come across those flying eels yet.

I think if Sony were to come on board and help more then we might see the improvements we want but I'm just not feeling it.
I would love to know what the devs have been doing for three years because all I'm seeing is what I saw three years ago in a trailer with less of what they promised but a few copy and paste space station, alien and building designs.
I now know that what I'd prefer concerning the present situation is the knowledge that everything was lost in the flood and that they'd started something totally different.

I don't care what happens at the end of the game, but that was mine to uncover not yours to ruin. Go to the spoilers thread if you want to do this, but don't drive by a thread full of (mostly) people enjoying the game and ruin it for someone else.

I wish you could report posts on Neogaf.

PM any moderator to report a post.

I landed on a planet last night that had life undetected, but I chased one of the blips and food a 3 meter tall strawberry looking animal (plant? Can they be motile?) with no limbs (and no face...) bouncing around vigorously, rubbing the snow trees.

Weirdest thing I've seen yet... I'll try to screenshot it later.

When I'm trying to recharge my exo system or weapons, the game only shows me entire slots of elements. it doesn't show how much of an element is necessary to charge to 100%. I see a gauge at the bottom of element icons that doesn't correspond with how much it's charge the system/weapon, but with how much I have of that element in that slot. Regardless of all this, any element block I use will disappear from inventory.

Am I reading this right? Am I making sense?

Oh man I hope I'm not stuck!

I'm following the Atlas mission and just talked to the monolith (I have the warp drive and warp cell blueprints). The monolith sent to "ascend to the stars", so I did.

Anomaly detected. Went to that solar system. Scanned in space, and another monolith detected on new planet.

Visited planet and found abandoned building but it's underwater.

Can't seem to get to it. :(

Just started this game. Will you later in the game get something to traverse the planets quicker, or are you stuck with running shoes?

Also how do I know if I have discovered a new planet, and how do I give it a name. All planets say undiscovered right now, but I guess thats just because I havent been to them yet.

You discover them when you land. After that, go into the menu and you can rename and upload them to the server.

The running, don't know.

I believe that's a waypoint you set inadvertently by scanning a building. When you look at it the hexagon shape and blue background will disappear leaving only the white dot and circle which can be easy to miss. Only way to remove it (AFAIK) is to go to the building you waypointed and walk across the spot to make it go away.
Better (some) waypoint/PoI management would be high on my list of things I'd like to see improved!

I'm going to throw a bunch of shots into quote tags, this planet is just too beautiful not to share. If it's too many images let me know and I'll edit it.

Having a lot of fun, but gotta say it's annoying as hell that seemingly locations you've cleared (Drop pods, Monoliths, etc) don't seem to have some identifier to let you you've been there, done that.

I'm quite into exploring worlds and using bypass chips to find locations, but it's a tad annoying and a waste of time to fly somewhere, only to realise once you've landed that you've already been there.

If I'm missing something obvious here let me know, but from what I can tells there's no 'cleared' marker...

You haven't met
Nada and Polo on their space anomaly?

Keep jumping toward the center and look for it.
Thanks. Nom have not met them, have not had anything about that pop up, and I thoroughly explored every star system I was in before leaving, hitting all waypoints and doing everything it told me to do in the HUD.

The melee + jet pack trick has really made exploring quicker and even a little fun. For those that don't know: tap melee then quickly boost.

Most markers will be faded once you've used them, it's not as obvious as it could be but it's there. Also almost every location has an actual physical marker to use that also acts as a save point, you'll need to use that to 'check' off that you've been to that location and after that the icon for that location should be 'faded' anytime it shows up again or you pass it.

How boring/grindy is finding broken down ships and fixing them?

I bought one for 1.2 million credits, but later found one that had a sigma drive. Yes, it did take more of the same old grinding on multiple planets to find the resources to repair everything. Now I find that I need to hope for the same luck of the draw to find even better drives in order to be able to visit different class star systems so I can grind all over again in hopefully a fresh environment! No thanks. As it is, the gameplay system is straight fucked up after a certain point and just not worth it.

You can launch a crashed ship with only launch thrusters and pulse drive repaired and get it back to a space station (or a friendlier planet) to repair more luxuriously. You don't need shields, weapons or a working hyperdrive to break atmo where you can get thamium9 easily for pulse jumping.

I can't be the only one who doesn't give a flying fuck about the end or center and just plays...
It would just be a bonus for me, if I ever reach it.
lol this is like Euro Truck Sim 2 feeling for me. So relaxing.

yeah same did the same with fallout 4 i just play it because its fun when it stops being fun i move on.... games with a legit story thats not that long i do finish but games i cant just play to play...

i just play

100% agreed. Markers / waypoints desperately need a management system -- combined with a planet map it could really improve things.

Haven't smoked in 10 years but I can imagine. I've turned down the music and fired up a Spotify playlist called "brain food" under the chill sets and wish I had some herb for the experience.

Am I the only one that thinks this game would be significantly better with a partner? Even an AI, wouldn't need to be a person. Just something to talk or report stuff to. Maybe it's cause I played Firewatch recently, but man this game would be awesome if your ship was a two seater and there was someone to share all this with.

I really wish I could give up Gaf and the Internet because that's what has spoiled this game the most for me.
Through the Reddit and Gaf I've seen than most of the promises this game was built on are nothing more than smoke and mirrors.
If the only insight into this game for me were the trailers then I'd be all over it, I wouldn't even get to the centre and the see the ending so it wouldn't matter.
They really did get close to the trailers apart from one thing and that's the creature ecosystem, the creatures are just to absurd.

I still need to check Firewatch out. But yes, a little bot companion or something would be neat. In a more fleshed out experience overall, of course.

Ugh. I have a 35 ship right now and I was hoping to be able to find new ships to get me to 48 since buying a 40 slot+ ship is like 30 mil+
Use multiple bypass chips to find multiple transmission towers (I do 3-4 at a time). Knock out each tower to reveal the crashed ships. Go to first location (make sure the new ship is +1 slot before switching, obviously), transfer over your stuff. break down EVERY UPGRADE from both your old ship and new ship. ONLY fix the required things (launch gear, pulse engine) to get the new ship flying.

Head to another crash ship. Rinse and repeat.

This is actually a good way to get the rare resources too since the upgraded crashed ship will have higher quality upgrades which give the rare resources (like Omegon) when broken down.

Yeah, if you're not doing this you're playing the game wrong at this point. It's a game changer and can't imagine exploring without it.

Decided to keep going the Atlas quest but I'm hating it right now
not only the stones take 1 full inv (why!) but lore wise I also feel like a zealot of some black blobs, and it doesn't explain much about the lore of the glaaxy. The only good part is that I'm learning lots of new alien vocabulary with those white orbs.
.

If it wasn't because I already have 8 stones I'll go free roaming path. Being free is the best.

I might start this now. Ships will only give me +1 of the slots I have currently?

Also every time I die the game crashes on me.
