Ugh for some reason my transmission places aren't letting me enter the code more than once now, which makes them basically useless (then again apparently there's a chance of hyper drive upgrades there). Anyone else have this problem?

Granted it's probably a bug in the first place, but I was curious if the broken ship route was a viable upgrade path. Even got some mats ready.

i wish i had taken a photo....i was on a pink planet with flying green eels. so trippy.

i'm really liking the balance of this game between the gamey elements and story (for ex. the game gives you objectives and kind of leads you along to become more powerful so you can fend for yourself, and you learn story elements from the monoliths and npc characters)...and then there is the infinite open-worldness sim aspect, that I know I will enjoy later when I am more upgraded and badass.

if nms had story cutscenes with the npcs, it would be more like other games, but i'm glad it's different and allows you to use your imagination, rather than the story being forced on you. i feel like it's my adventure

What do these vortex cubes and gravity(?) balls look like?
I have never seen them and I have seen some obscure shit like Calium and Murrine. Maybe I just ignored them?

Not sure about the cubes but Graviton balls look like regular spheres but glow when you approach them. And like with Venom Sacks you jump to 3* Sentinel Aggro the second you touch one.

But at least you can one-shot Venom Sacks to avoid Sentinels even detecting you. No workaround for Gravitons.

I just found a warp drive upgrade, got all excited and went to see what it costs to build one... not there in my blueprints. The fuck just happened? I've been hoping for a warp drive upgrade for so long... *sobs*
Also I did get the preorder ship and I only see 'pulse drive' in my engine blueprints. Is that bad?

Ok this is exactly what happened to me: https://youtu.be/5ghUiLiRQFA

Guess I'm not the only one.

I've got the blueprints for warp reactors a few times and they always say I already had them when I clearly didn't. I did successfully get one from the distress signal at a crashed ship site. I'm wondering if they're not supposed to be part of the regular blueprint pool and you're only supposed to get them a certain way.

Also worth noting that when you send out a scan, they show up as '!' on your HUD.

So uh, how's ship combat supposed to work?

Maneuverability is shit and there doesn't seem to be any way to evade attacks or get out of a battle once it starts. Seems like the only thing you can really do is sit there while they hit you, constantly waste resources recharching your shield ( multiple button presses! ) and then hope you can kill them before they kill you...

Am I missing something here?

Now getting crashes on startup. Went from like 1 in 20 hours of play to one every hour.

Yeah, after the game wiped my 2.5 hours of progress, even though I was frustrated as much as I was, I still wanted to play and I also had a crash at start up. It crashed right before you are told to hit the square button to start. For me since launch, I have had about 10 crashes. While I have not had a lot of time to play, it feels like a crap shoot at times. I get weary of exploring because of the crashes. For a game that is about exploring, these crashes are destroying it for many.

Vortex Cubes look like this generally, though sometimes they will also just be sitting on the ground.

Graviton Balls I've only seen in tiny plants that when you get close a tentacle like thing will come out of the plant with a glowing white ball.

Uhh, yeah, so for those people who accidentally sold one of those valuable quest items...

I think I just stumbled on a dupe glitch, and it should allow you to get back to the number you need:

Whenever you are destroyed in a space battle, your grave remains even if you restore from "previous" save point. Which means, you might want to stuff your ship full of Atlas Stones, die in a space battle, then reload from previous. Switch your Atlas Stones into your Exosuit inventory when you reload, then head out and find your grave. Your ship inventory still gets restored with the Atlas Stones that were on your ship when destroyed. I tested this twice, and now I have too many Atlas Stones...

Frequency of crashing has increased significantly for me. Additionally, crashing seems to have been upgraded – after a crash I restart the game, and it always crashes a second time during the start up sequence where you're just floating through space waiting for the game to load. In other words, a single crash has now become two crashes every time.

And in the options menu, it is saying "you have lost connection to online services" the majority of the time. Come on.

I feel like the game should not have been released in this state.

It's just standard spaceship combat. If they fly past you, slow down and track them until they're in front of you again. Shoot ahead of them into the targeting area, but ideally try to tuck in behind them.

Right, here goes. You sure you still wanna know? Good keep reading then.

You visit the Atlas 10 times. Each time you get a stone and a piece of back story into the different races and where the Sentinels came from etc.

If you keep all 10 stones and visit the Atlas for the last time the Path ends and the Atlas gives you a choice. You can walk away with your stones or you can give the Stones back to the Atlas and it will birth a Star System that another player who's just starting the game will spawn on.

The game tells you that your System has been born on the edge of the galaxy. Sadly you don't get to visit but IMO I think it's cool. Your actions with the Stones give a player their starting planet.
So,
I presume that once you encounter them for the 11th time and learn that, you continue to the center and get warped to a galaxy that someone else has created? Or does all of this happen at the center?

use reverse thrust when turning and you turn on a sixpence, i can normally take out a few ships per pass now

I'm watching a guy on YouTube gaming make his way to the centre, I think he's about an hour away from doing it.
Strangely I'm enjoying watching someone else do it rather than try it myself. I guess I'm doing it so I can delete the game from my PS4 and forget about this game once and for all.

Maybe you should have done that before buying the game.
What a shit post.

Finally found a planet with lots of sac venom and a building where I can trade, so that I don't get shot to shit by pirates hauling 400K+ back to a space station. The game starts here! :D

so im jumping from atlas station to atlas station ammassing spheres....
is there an end to that quest line or is it just infinite ? I dont understand the progresion.

What I do when attacked is just let them kill me, respawn and fly to my grave to pick my stuff up.
Saves me time, grief and materials. I also have extra inventory space because I don't need shield upgrades.

Just fix a part or two that are broken and I'm on my way.

Oh. Should I be doing this with other stuff, too? Like my multitool upgrades?

yes, all upgrades stack , no matter if they're from the suit, ship or multi tool.

Btw, for anyone trying to buy a ship, if you want cheaper prices dismantle all the upgrades from your ship. The ships will come with fewer upgrade son them, and also cheaper (like, a 3.5M one can be turned into a 1.5M).

Remember you get half the mats needed when you dismantle an upgrade.

If you can, there's a boost when related upgrades touch. It's not always possible though and not enough to stress about if you can't do it. Still, if you can it's an extra boost and if you want to be perfect you'll need to have as many next to each other as you can.

edit: lol

The amount of people that don't get the ending of the Atlas Path is unreal. Try reading what the game tells you. It's really not hard.

Edit: The ending of the Atlas Path is NOT the ending of the game or the Galaxy. It's a totally separate story.

Thanks for this in edit.
I am currently on the Atlas Path, and of course I will not read your spoilers, but I am glad to know that there is more after that, whatever that is.

Also, I think lot of people do not actually read the story that you get in all those monoliths, outposts and other encounters. There is quite a bit of story there, and to me it is interesting, a nice little sci-fi adventure.

Blueprints for stuff that is already installed will not show in the menu. But for some reason you also get blueprints for technologies that are preinstalled like launch trusters, life support and mining laser. Why a blueprint for life support when you have it from the beginning of the game and can't even remove it.

I think the story and writing in this game are excellent. It's a shame they seem to be mostly overlooked.

I've been getting these the last couple of hours of playtime, very odd.

It's super annoying and doesn't make seance. I can understand getting dupes of various upgrades, but getting a dupe of something you start out with is infuriating.

So I got the first Atlas Pass. How do I get v2 and v3?

Search Manufacturing Plants. They're apart of the random upgrades you find there.

Maybe you should have done that before buying the game.
What a shit post.
Maybe I should have waited until the game had been out a week and then I'd have realised how much Sean Murray had lied about his game. Hey but what can I do, I preordered a game based on lies.
