If you like a system set a way point!!

I have a way point set to my home system just in case I ever wanna go back. I've traveled pretty far from it but the way point remains.

About that, I've tried to get rid of way points but I have no idea how. I went through a black hole and the old way points are annoying as hell

I'm having so much fun, but there's some tiny things that bug me. Mainly bugs.

The game added a marker on my map when I scanned the system I'd recently arrived in. It led to an abandoned building on a planet that has perpetual rainfall and erupts into a storm every five minutes. Only problem is the abandoned building is actually underwater, and there's no way for me to enter. There are no doors, no hatches, nothing, so even when I'm exploring one of the five other planets in the system I'll constantly have a marker on my HuD telling me to go back there. Very annoying.

Abandoned buildings sometimes need the door blown off with a plasma grenade i think?

Got this yesterday and played about 10 hours or so. I've warped to 4 different systems so far. So far I'm really enjoying it. I just don't know how long the game play loop will keep me interested with out a decent story or motivation.

Playing this game really makes me miss Mass Effect. It'd be cool if somehow they could incorporate the gameplay mechanics into mass effect like the mining and space travel. Instead of having generic planets to mine resources you could have procedurally generate planets to explore and mine.

I may have mistakenly called this game "Mass Effect" at least a half dozen times by now. I agree w/ your sentiment. The day we get a combined Mass Effect / NMS game will be a good day.

I found a couple water worlds which were disappointing. One had sharks but underwater (animal) life is so sparse so far in this game. It's like the opposite of our oceans. I also found a wintery planet that looked a lot like what I've seen of Setsuna. It had tons of trees but few animals. However, one of the animals was a huge friendly Pikachu/Winnie the Pooh hybrid. Without the screwed up face that has become notorious here, lol.

I settled today on a grassy/tropical world with plains and oceans. Unfortunately, I'm planning to put the game down now. Not because of monotony, but rather I've played it significantly more than I planned to (essentially all of my non-work/sleep hours since it launched). I was hoping for a 15 min a day game and instead I got a 6 hr/day game. I'll come back to it when I have more time, but it was probably my most memorable PS4 experience so far.

I found a Monolith that had some details on Gek history,
apparently they are really oppressive jerks
. Was kinda surprised given their appearance.
Im pretty deep into the Geks history through monoliths, I just wish that there was some archive or chronicle of the things I've discovered because it's genuinely interesting but the small segments of history can be so far apart that I kind of lose the thread

Getting 40-80k is not a lot.

Personally I just mess about and collect what I see, rather than 'grinding' anything, but if I wanted to there are plenty of planets with amples of rare valuables. Caves full of 30k graviton spheres, entire oceans full of 30k aqua spheres. You can easily make in excess of 500k in 10 mins like that.

From my experience, if one cave on a planet is full of graviton spheres, then there will be others that are exactly the same on the same planet.

Any sources of Emiril are also good, you can max out a slot within a few minutes and that gets you something like 130k. Generally I'd say that's better than crafting bypass chips.

Don't forget that your ship can hold 250 Iron and Plutonium per Slot, allowing you to build 25 Chips per Slot. You get about 85.000 Units for 25 Chips and you can fill up your ship with both of these ressources really fast, anywhere. Building up a Slow of Gold for example takes way, way longer, just because mining Gold is so much slower.

I haven't found caves full of graviton spheres but if you do, sure, then that is probably faster. The point of this method though is to allow you to make a lot of money in a very short amount of time without having to spend 20 hours beforehand to look for a great spot to farm :P

Yep, I've also already made it a "15min play session" game for me as well
It's honestly significantly better that way.... at least for me :)

I need money. Wish there were bounty missions. They need to give us more quests. Like division. Would be extremely nice.

That sounds like a great idea. I'd love to hunt down the pirates that almost murdered me. Maybe we could even setup bounty missions for other players. Or being able to do a co-op bounty mission with a small crew of four would be really cool.

Is it a good idea to break down all the technology and upgrades on a new ship and rebuild them in better positions so you can get the adjacency boost?

Jeez this game gets really dark sometimes in the 'lore'.

Has there been any sightings of large animals like the ones in the trailers? Any dune snakes?

I found like a large cow, but that was about it.

I believe in certain instances there are bounties, i saw some text pop up on a livestream earlier where a ship was being attacked and it said the hostiles attacking had bounties that could be claimed upon killing them, or something to that effect.

Always :) and they got more expensive with each one you get.

Yeah, it increments 10k with each slot. It's getting expensive man :(

I don't even have an Atlas Pass V1 yet

Me neither and I'm like 20 hours in...

How do I get one?

Keep warping forward. After your first encounter with
Atlas
, you will find another
Space Anomaly
after warping to the next system; go inside, and talk with
Polo
. You will need to have several creatures scanned, and you will receive the recipe for the AtlasPass.

To be clear farming iron/plutonium and crafting bypass chips is not "$40k-80k." That's 40-80k PER SALE. if you have 23ish open slots in your suit fill your ship holds with 4 iron / 4 plutonium -- or 500 of each in each slot or 2000 of each -- meaning 200 chips worth in your ship ... you're talking about a $700k+ haul.

It's very worth it. And you can do it at any planet, unlike hoping you land on a planet with a bunch of gravitrons.

that's main goal really, to find a big dinosaur-like creature. the bi-pedal sentinel is the only big thing I've encountered so far.

One planet I landed on had GIGANTIC mushroom-like animals with squid tentacles and they all hopped around. It was then that I learned the lack of collision detection on those things was so bad I dropped right through them when trying to ride!

:(

Oh nice! I must be close then. Just milking my time. Thank you!

I'm only 4 hours in, but apparently your ship is deleted (with all its contents) when you find a new ship.

I lost all my things and now I'm wondering if it's worth starting over? Not sure if I lost vital quest items or anything.

Or can I obtain everything again?

If you bought a ship, your old one is gone once you leave that station or platform.

If you found a crashed ship and claimed it and then decided you want the old one, your ship should still be there where you left it -- assuming you haven't left the area (similar to how your old ship is still at the platform / station until you leave).

Nah everything is replaceable.

Okay getting the extreme survival gold might be more of a pain in the ass then the 100% happiness one in FO4. Apparently you can't leave the planet, can't die, and it takes 8 hours.

So if you leave... yep another 8 hours needs to happen.

Heh the planet I spawned on had the biggest creature I've seen yet...had the head of a Pachy, gangly forelimbs, and the body of an ant lol. Startled the hell out of me because I encountered it basically cresting a hill, thankfully it was docile.

That's one of the big hooks for me right now, love landing somewhere and just not knowing what the hell I'm gonna find.

Byass chips? Are you sure?

I literally just did that and did not get 40K to 70K per, not even close.

I agree. That's pretty much one of the biggest incentives to go forward. What's around the corner?

Yeah, you can striaght up just phase through some things.

I had it in front of me and it disappeared as soon as I entered the crashed ship. I tried to transfer some items but since I couldn't transfer anything I thought I could do it afterwards. Oh well.

Nah everything is replaceable.

Great, thanks!

Did anyone else experience a feeling of being overwhelmed when first starting out? I'm really trying to find a groove. It took me forever to find a way to get what I needed to get off the planet that I spawned on and I have the feeling that I'm going to have to grind through everything that I need to do.

is there any way to cheese multitool upgrades? literally everyone i encounter in random shelters has fewer slots than my current (which only has 10)

Fuck my life. I got a report of a crashed ship, went to go check it out. When I was landing I guess there was a cave I didn't see, and I was landing on the overhang of the cave but my ship went through and ended up underneath the cave overhang. So I say okay whatever, let me check out the crashed ship. It has a few more slots but I need to repair it of course.

I end up seeing a plant that gives me graviton balls and I accidently pick one up, sentinels come all over me so I run back to my ship to fly away. End up getting stuck IN MY SHIP INSIDE the cave, and i take so much damage I die, and my ship needs repairs. So I say eff it I'll repair the crashed ship nearby instead. I pretty much have all the materials.

I repair everything except the pulse drive which needs 20 zinc. I don't have 20 zinc. Nothing I dismantle gives me zinc. This planet is basically barren and I can't find zinc anywhere. I'm like a 10 min walk away from my ship and haven't found an outpost or anything.

So desperate right now lol.

Jeez this game gets really dark sometimes in the 'lore'.

I love all the weird, fucked up shit that goes on in the logs in those kinds of buildings and the stuff from the monoliths that give you trials and tell you of past civilisations. Had a pretty cool one about the Gek that made me look at them in a whole new light.

I don't know how you can do 15 min play sessions with this game; I spend 15 minutes just exploring the immediate area where I land. I could care less about farming, but the question marks are addictive for me. I start out saying, "okay, just going to check out this spot and then I'm done", and then of course I see another question mark on the horizon and have to check that out as well.

On another note, I hope they add land speeders or something. I would explore way more of a planet if I could move quicker. And flying doesn't let you get low enough.

Follow the Atlas Path and you will eventually find
a Anomaly in a NON-Atlas system, a special NPC will give to you the recipe for Atlas Pass v1 in a special purple colored space station.

Took me about 60 hours myself. But I spent the first 50 or so just mining and upgrading my suit and weapon which are now maxed out, so I definitely got my money's worth out of this game.

Wish I knew the exact amount of hours I put in. I know I definitely put in at least 5 hours every day since the day of it's release.

In the interim, have you mastered the melee long jump? On topic, hell yes land speeders! I was thinking atv w wheels at one point but now I'm leaning more toward some kind of off-road hovercraft.
