Yeah, but also why would Ifrit be the final boss? That's very likely him. Huge Horns, everything engulfed in flames. He also didn't seem evil/antagonistic but a bit bored actually. Astrals have with a few exceptions (Leviathan and Ultros) very human-like appearances in this game:

It is likely one -if not the final- battle against astrals that Noctis has to overcome in order to use of their power.

Ah, Noctis is practicing that patent Geralt smouldering glare! Noctis of Rivia. I'm really shocked how different the model looks, never in a million years would I have thought that was Noctis.

They're trying to cash into the GoT crowd. They even had Lena Headey and Sean Bean in Kingsglaive and made Ravus a Jaime lookalike.

I hadn't expected them to go full-on Noctis Snow, it's utterly bizarre. I actually quite like Jamie Ravuster's design, but this older Noctis, Jesus.

Both, to me it just seems like he's resembling more of his father getting older which is fine.

Well for Regis, it's debatable, because his older design is great, but new design is not half bad either, for me.

For Noctis, his young appearance is very boring for me, just looks like a standard, shounen manga hero, spiky hair with lots of hair gel, pretty boy face, blah. Old Noctis looks like distant cousin of Geralt of Rivia, which is a plus in my book. And besides, I think they do share some similar facial features, the eyes for example. But old Noctis looks more buffed/heavier, and has beards and all that which gives him a more rugged look. And no more hair gel, and he's apparently never washed his face for some time, as it's full of dirt.

Didn't have time to watch this footage earlier today, just got around to it.

Visually there are still some issues I have with it, but I think it's looking okay now. Not quite as hung up on that as I was before, although I wish SE would stop releasing such terrible screenshots to the public. I think my biggest hangup at this point is the voice-acting. It's incredibly poor and for all kinds of various reasons. Lack of positional audio, dry reading of lines, kooky accents (although ironically, Cindey seems like one of the more well delivered actors), etc.

I think I'm going to have to play the game in Japanese.

To begin with (with the new Regis) Noctis does not even resemble his father - had Tabata stuck with the original design of Regis I would agree that Noctis resembles his father. And now, we have this sudden change due to accelerated aging and now "he suddenly looks like his father". Ok. Tabata, Ok. Pls explain this.

Well, he seems to grow up into this version over the course of the game, so you will have him as a "skin".

They went from a textbook JRPG protagonist to a textbook WRPG protagonist wearing a designer suit. I'd do a comparison, but I'm also almost 100% that they changed the shape of his eyes.

I'm awaiting his renaming to Noctis Snow.

Some people have high tolerance for low framerate/dips, ugly textures and poor IQ.

At least the game looks interesting but technically it's just depressing. Shitty voice acting doesn't help too.
