I heard from a source at Gamescom that every piece of muddy texture has a hidden line that says "Fuck Final Fantasy VII".
I also heard that the build is so poor it melted all the PS4s. Shockingly, Xbox One managed to survive the overheating despite being a worse performing console.
I have a lot of thoughts so I'm going to keep brief for now.
Cons:
- whoever edited the film needs to be fired, this damages the pace and prevents it for being a better film.
- during action scenes just pull back the camera a little and slow it down a tad bit. My DBZ eyes can only follow so much.
- lip syncing at times a bit disjointed.
- it's not a film for the masses, it's film for FF fans especially XV fans.
- certain va's feel like they don't belong, for instance general glaucas or however you spell it ( the iron knight ) among others.
Positives: Regis and Luna va's are superb, both characters are very driven to their ideals. A minor issue is that Luna
seems to have a death wish
at times. But she isn't afraid to do what needs to be done.
- Plenty of FF Easter eggs from monsters and more.. Ahh ( plus versus Easter eggs )
- Insommia is so goddamn beautiful like you don't understand and it made me a tad bit resentful that such a epic city isn't explorable in the game. It felt like a character to me after all the years of being attached to the city watching it
burn down
broke my heart.
+/- I feel torn fight scenes feel like MoS at times, take that as you will.
+/- story is easy to follow and very straight forward. Could be a negative for some.
+/- Adryn reminds of of certain Durarara character *wink wink.. His Va grew on me by the end.
Final thoughts, the film is pretty good and it invokes versus feels. I overhead people in the theater saying so now we wait for the game to see Prince Noctis? The after credit scene made everyone clap. It made me look forward to the game even more and I gotta say after I've grown more fond of Regis design.

This honestly. Having to bring back the franchise back to the top, make a game out of a mess that Nomura left, and having to do it all on a engine that is not suited for current consoles. Seems like the most impossible situation, but he still takes the time to try to be upfront with all of us. The sad thing is that if this doesn't do good I can see Square never allowing him to do another main title again.
Are we still shitting on Nomura in order to prop up Tabata again? If you want to support FF15, that's fine, you should do so earnestly. So don't make up things about the situation ok?

This interview has me hopeful about the visual upgrade.
- He says he would have been ashamed if everyone couldn't enjoy what the day 1 patch was going to offer ( he is talking about those unable to download it ) .
- He says the ps4 is more powerful than the X1, a difference between both versions is inevitable .
- But now with DX12 they can optimise the X1 version better than before .
- Whether it is the X1 or the ps4 he wants us to know that the available demos aren't fully optimised (in term of rendering ) . They didn't hit the top quality yet , but with 2 months left he is hopeful/hoping they can hit a superior level of graphics than the current one .

He should be more confident after the delay about the final product. Don't leave worry for people to think they aren't going to hit the target even with the extra time

I ain't talking shit about Nomura but describing those 6 years of Versus other than a "mess" is putting it lightly. And until they come out describing what happen all those years the only people who are at fault is Square and Nomura.

Well yeah, i'm a big fan of his work, really big. But more importantly, i'm not a fan of false narratives. Such as the one where Nomura is so incompetent he apparently can't get a game out in 10 years while poor Tabata has to clean up after him cue world's smallest violin. So i will seek to clear the record whenever i see one.

Thank you! That was a great interview, I've been following this game for so long that the usual "tell me about the game's features" interview is not very interesting to me, so I definitely enjoyed this one that was a bit more personal and went into his personality and how it translates into the game more than the game's features.
I wonder how much english Tabata knows. You can tell by the way he was reacting that he's not exactly waiting for his translator in order to understand what's going on.
Here's a non-summarized version with the full quote.
Tabata: It is true that overall the PS4 has more graphics power than the Xbox One. Of course, as a developer we're trying to make the best of these two machines, but yes, there will be many graphical difference between the PS4 and Xbox One release. This is something we can not avoid.
However, with the arrival of DirectX 12 on Xbox One, a lot of elements are alleviated in the rendering process. This allows us to work at a higher level than before. Whether on PS4 or Xbox One, I should also emphasize that we have not yet fully optimized rendering [presented in demos]. We were not yet at the top of the quality possible, but with the additional two months, I hope we can reach an even higher level than where we are now.
Gameblog.fr: Note that the PS4 version we've tried last week actually showed a significant technical advance over the Platinum demo
Thank Tabata for no parity. The eventual PC port/semi-remake will be interesting.
Personally I'm more worried that the game may be struggling to produce genuine emotional moments rather than worrying about it producing 1080p30fps lol.

I've always felt that since mostly men work on these games, that they could make a better game centred around male friendships than an underlying romance. Same with Noctis' and Regis' father-son relationship, which felt very genuine in the latest episode in the anime where Noctis came to realize his father is withering away in front of him.

Ehhh I'm not even talking about romance here, but we'll see. I'm one of those guys who felt like there were good ideas and a unique style behind old V13 concepts and XV as it is now begins with pushing a car and killing 9 scorpions. Some important moments for the characters happen off screen. The protagonists supposedly care about Luna but the game might fail to make the player care also because we don't even see her or why we should care.
It could all fall in place in the final cut or it could go the way of FF13 where you needed to get through obtuse, trite presentation to get to the meat of the conflict and the characters that in hindsight turn out not that good to begin with. I can't get into FF8 for this very reason - its storytelling is awkward and the characters feel unrelatable. And that game actually has a romance! So yeah.
You mean cell shaded? I can't picture the world of FF15 looking like that at all. Sounds weird
One thing i really like is they way they are setting up magic like actual objects you have to craft instead of being using that comes from the body itself, which leaves for interesting crafting experiences whereyou can make whatever you want via effects like Riku's mix ability from ff10
These people are mostly just human beings except for Noct and supposedly a few others who can take advantage extra strong abilities

My main beef is that there potentially might not be enough points in the story to make you care about a few central things, like the father-son dynamic. Dunno how adequate flashbacks will be to make sense of some things. I'm more worried about that than Luna tbh, who never seemed like a big deal anyway compared to Regis and the four guys even when the game was Versus.
We'll see how it turns out. I'm surprised at how well characterization in Brotherhood happens by not really trying hard. Maybe it's boring to some, but it's a different approach that I think is working well. Dunno how well that will translate into the game though.

Stella was always a big deal and the promotionals showed that as a perfect counterpoint to the main character himself. The other guys were bros, but she was the antagonist side RIVAL. And that was really interesting to me in a way Luna generally has not been so far.

That is arguable, but my general point is that if the entire game is spent chasing the plot instead of experiencing it for the sake of some nebulous idea of a bro trip, it's gonna be 40 hours I'll want back.
I think the point is that right now they feel like a day one patch on the "master" version we've seen would mean that some people end up only getting the current version (due to shitty internet or whatever), and they don't want that.
I'm sure the Nov 29 version of the game will still have a day one patch, but it'll be one that just irons out a few remaining bugs, rather than being the patch that gets them to the performance and fidelity level they want all players to have.
