Titanfall 2 Multiplayer Technical Test Impressions (XB1/PS4)

They got rid of burn cards? And rodeo is completely changed. And slower speed. AI removed from game modes. I have to keep my composure and not repeat the same things, but this doesn't seem like Titanfall.

Fuuuuuuuuuuck burn cards. If your game has cards in it and isn't a CCG, fuck you. It's a horrific mechanic that adds randomness and imbalance. It's just garbage and I hope every game scraps it. /looks at Halo 5

I hate to pile on, especially since I'm more comfortable on PC when it comes to shooters, but count me among the disappointed. I mean... I don't hate it. Without any additional context, it seems like a solid game. But it's disappointing with that additional context. This isn't really Titanfall. This is more of a fancy BLOPS3 expansion pack.

I'll put more time into this over the weekend, but so far I'm just glad a new mainline Battlefield is coming out this year. God I hope that beta's good. :[

Playing it more I just can't believe what they did to the AI. It was cool seeing them fight each other all over the map, seeing where other pilots were if they shot to kill them, hearing their chatter when you ran by, and actually having them on both sides of the fight. Now in bounty hunt its just two groups trying to gun down the same grunts that spawn only at designated locations and only at specific times and the rest of the map is a ghost town?

And now I've been running into people who just camp the banks even when they're closed so of course we lose? And hardpoint is just camp the points to win fast?

I don't know.

It's fun in and of itself, it's just not Titanfall.
That's the real issue here.

It feels like COD without the fluidity, responsiveness, or control.

What I'm saying is this is a homeless man's call of duty. Titanfall was awesome and unique. They've pretty much stripped all of that out and made it...bland.

Played a few matches. Don't hate it, but it really feels off compared to the first one. I'm probably rehashing what everyone has said already, but the movement feels really clunky for both mechs and pilots.

My biggest complaint with the mechs is I don't have one that is weak defensively, but nibble so far. I just hope the game doesn't force you to use a specific weapon and mech combo and allows you to mix it up.

Was trying to decide between this or Battlefield 1 and so far it seems like Battlefield 1 might be the game for me.

Might buy neither and just play Uncharted 4 multiplayer and Overwatch.

I think we should have realized something was up when Titanfall 2 wasn't winning any E3 MP rewards really. At least not compared to the 1st game.

I don't expect that will happen since the titans seem more like 'hero' characters now. Like Scorch needs the weapon he has for his kit to combo and ignite properly so I'd expect them all to be similar to that.

Best case there's gonna be 2 weak, 2 medium, 2 strong and hopefully one of those gels. But I am really missing the Strider for now.

Had to put way more hours into this than I wanted to just to unlock the shotgun. Not sure it was worth it.

Just gonna throw this theory out there: the faster you move, the more auto-aim enemy players have on you.

Only major thing I noticed in my few matches is that the movement and jumping feels slower or something. Doesn't seem to flow as well or fast as TF1.

After 3 hours of play, I feel as if Titanfall 1 was supposed to be the sequel, not Titanfall 2. I don't think that is too good to have. Hopefully the developers take the feedback and improve on the features that we are complaining about. Just having Titans have shields, and improving TTK would be wonders and a start. Hope that Attrition is still in, it was the best mode in the original. I also hope LTS is still in, but I worry how fun it would be without shields.

With how you're constantly being wittled at in a titan, and how easy it is to rodeo thanks to grapple i don't see the light/fast titans being much fun. More than anything else right now the changes to titans just seems so dumb.

strider bros unite.

Has anyone else had the problem of getting separated from your party after a game? My friends and I keep connecting to different lobbies after almost every game.

Do any of the respawn Devs post here? I really want the game to do well so I hope they can take some of the feedback here.

I'm sure they're reading the thread. They posted in the key begging thread and gave out a few keys the other day.
Im sure they can't really say much until after the beta period and they gain more data. That is of course if they're gonna change anything.

Amped Hardpoint is like what. The incentive for sitting on a point in a Domination-style mode should be the ability to defend that point, not having to be glued to it in order to win faster. Baffling fucking game mode. I sat on our point all game, getting no kills, and finished 3rd on our team. Respawn pls

Makes no sense. Incentivizes camping like crazy.

Legit criticism. The time-lapse videos of camping 'C' with no action for 5 minutes have been seen. Heads have nodded knowingly. Betterment will happen.

Also, bring back the damn mech timer, I was top player in hard point and didn't see a mech nor did I get a mech the entire match. Seen multiple matches like this.

Amped Hardpoint doesn't have the right earn rates right now. That'll be fixed (in a server update) soon. This mode was originally scheduled to go live for weekend #2, not #1, so there was no rush to get those correct configs in. And now-!
So yes. Expect to see a lot more titans (by design) in that mode soon.

Oh yea the TTK is ridiculous...
Saw this a lot here, might be the most puzzling. The R-201 Carbine in this build has the same fire rate as last game's R-101, and same hits to kill a pilot at standard range. There aren't a ton of guns in this test, so what's driving people to think this?

But I am really missing the Strider for now.
To know Ronin is to love him. To pair Ronin with his twin is god-tier teamplay.

Do any of the respawn Devs post here?
Only the foolish.

Just played a few matches for the first time, and my initial impressions are that its fantastic. Big fan of the first game, and this one seems really excellent as well.

I love the grapple, it instantly felt intuitive. I was flying across the map in no time right off the bat.

Man this game doesn't seem to have as much depth as the first. It's slower and also at times feels dead. It sucks since I really enjoyed the first but this multiplayer is quite dissapointing.

Thanks for keeping an eye on things, Rayme. Still enjoying the game a lot overall despite some disappointments here and there. There's nothing like Titanfall when it's firing on all cylinders; TF2 just needs a few more of those cylinders to fire up.

I just got done playing a few matches. I LOVED the first Titanfall and this one...hey, it's pretty good.

It still plays damn good and the grappling hook is cool! I feel like wall running might be slower, but I could be crazy. The levels in this tech test don't show off the wall running stuff as well though. I'm bummed about Titan's not being on a timer anymore, it feels...oh, less "unique" not seeing as many giant robots running around. However, when you're in a Titan fighting other Titans it still feels pretty rad. But, I will agree with most people here that deaths in the game happen way too fast. The last game had it right, this one seems too quick.

So, overall, I really enjoy it. I am slightly disappointed but I will still be picking this game up.

Now having played as a Titan it's really quite bad. Playing as a Titan doesn't feel anything like the first game and you go down way too quick in a Titan. It doesn't even feel like there is any point in doing anything but spamming attack until your Titan dies because if you take cover so what?

The on foot stuff is still great but in a Titan its pretty bad.

Respawn has some explaining to do.

The problem is on foot, its basically COD Advanced Shit-Fare now. Getting killed in a Titan is because there usually aren't any unless you are stomping the other team.

Boy, the TTK is crazy. It's easily a "I see you first, you're dead" game now. If you get a Titan, everyone just waits until you finally move and pounce you. The range on the auto's is nuts with those neon outlines and the maps SUCK. I loved TF1 but I wouldn't pay for this. Someone said it's Halo 4 in the thread and that was a great analogy. It's not a bad game, it's just that they made 100 wrong decisions.

Ive read every page in this thread but i couldnt find the answer, do you need ps plus to play this online? In the german psn store it says "ps plus exclusive".

Fixing those earn rates will help, but honestly, I preferred the timer and that was just the tip of the iceberg in regards to things that need fixing. Thank you for addressing some of the concerns, but sadly this one is going on the backburner for me. Best of luck to you guys though. Appreciate your engaging the community.

Also, was speed lowered from 1 to 2?

If they're anything close to halfway decent devs, they won't let the opinions of like 100 forums members with minimal experience derail their design decisions. They made the changes they made for a reason (I'd have to assume it wasn't random, it never is), so they should stick to their guns and let it prove true that those changes make sense.

On the same end of that though, staying so firm on your design decisions can potentially bite you in the ass as well. Kind of a double edged sword.

They don't have to incorporate every suggestion on the internet but good devs don't completely ignore feedback.

They've actually responded to some. If they're decent devs, they'll check out any constructive criticism and note that or possibly address it, which they have.

Slower movement, pilots bring highlighted with less distractions etc. Is probably making it easier for people to get kills. On the side of the killed, it seems like everyone is more hostile.

At least, a lot of my TF1 gameplay was full of people constantly missing me.

I can't wait to give my own impressions if I have time.
