Trump to African Americans: "What do you have to lose?, You're living in poverty"

Hey guys, your life is so terrible that you should all vote for a sociopath leading a group of klansmen and nazis. I don't have any policies on record that will help you in any way, and quite a few that will hurt you, but fuck it, your life is such shit anyway, all of you, that you might as well roll the dice!

Black outreach.

A lot of people say that Trump is trying to lose the election, and I don't really buy into that narrative at all, given his character, but it's still difficult for me to fully believe that he is so outrageously stupid that he thinks this would work on anyone.

What do black dudes and dudettes have to lose? The right to vote.

Cause this fuck face being president means all the other piece of shit republican led states that are actively suppressing their votes already will have even more power to do so.

That is what they have to lose numb nuts.

Don't be fooled he's not speaking to African Americans he speaking the independent white voters

Yep, I'm quite confident Trump would not have been brave enough to say what he said in a rally full of Black people. He says the crap surrounded by his mostly White supporters and to other White supporters maybe on the fence.

"When I'm president, all the black babies will be born with fathers. I'll choose only the most responsible black men to work for me and they can father the best black children in the country. Only the ones that are a good investment. We only want winners. The women can work the house and the men can learn a trade so long as they don't stray too far from the house where the children are.

It's about time to put black men back to work.

What do you have to lose?

I'm Donald Trump and I approved this message."

I am at a point that I read his or his defenders statements and they are so outrageous that I think there should be some meaning in them, no one can be so stupid, so there must be some meaning in it, something humane. I think I am becoming stupid too. Or insane. This is just too much.

The framers of the Constitution had no intention of allowing blacks the right to vote. Make America Great Again. Also, all lives matter.

;p

I didnt grow up in poverty

I went to a good school

I have a job

The thought of a Trump Presidency scares the shit out of me as a black man.......so no thank you.

Man.

This is a clear sign of contempt and superiority over black people. It tells his base that if black people are left to their own devices they will remain poor and uneducated.

That black people continue to slap away the helping hand of their superiors.

That if black people don't vote for his cause it's because they don't know any better.

It allows his base to flirt with the idea that his isn't a racist platform because one time somewhere he said a thing that massaged their guilt.

I don't think he's trying to get black people in. I think he is telling his base what they wanted to hear because it makes them feel better and gives them a little more to rally behind.

This is a presidential nominee in 2016.

Digging? Again, BLACK LIVES MATTER. Why is that offensive? What does that phrase do to you that you need to link bullshit and say things like ALL lives matter? How did you miss that THAT is EXACTLY the point? You didn't. I'm sorry. I just don't believe anyone is that dumb.

There's a history of violence against people of color in this country. This isn't new. This hasn't ended. This has been brushed aside. Some people decided enough is enough. They said BLACK LIVES MATTER, because justice hasn't been served many times over. Because injustice is still very much a thing. Because we aren't dogs. We're fucking human beings, like the rest of you. We fucking matter. You wanna take it another way? Cool..be an idiot.

Not ONE foreign white friend of mine, and I'm NOT talking internet bullshit friends, understands why this phrase is so hard to swallow here. They have their theories, but I'm nicer than they are. Must be them growing up with cheap healthcare and all that..they're plenty judgmental.
Truth. All of this.

It's interesting how some people don't realize that "All Lives Matter" is exactly what "Black Lives Matter" is trying to convey, but instead read it as "Only Black Lives Matter." I struggle to understand where this disconnect comes from.

Then, on the opposite end of the spectrum from Donald Trump and his supporters, there are people like Joan Trumpauer Mulholland. Arrested at 19 in 1961 for being a Freedom Rider, a group of civil rights activists who risked their lives to ride desegregated interstate buses into Mississippi and the deep South.

VkmbGdC.png

...who also was prominent in sit ins:

...and fought for voting rights in the South:

...who marched with King.:

...and who continues to this day to be one of America's most amazing civil rights activists.

There are people who have literally devoted their entire lives to fighting for equality and then there are people like Tatertots, who seem completely oblivious to the African American reality. And it's depressing how impossible it seems to be to connect with the latter group, and how it's not just "old white people". Last year, Hillary told BLM that "you don't change hearts" and I thought it was somewhat harsh at the time, but I've resigned myself to agreeing with her. There seems to be a chasm between what black people are saying and what too much of white America chooses to hear. And Trump seems to be doing everything in his power to widen that gap.

'I mean, you know you're all a bunch of flthy niggers leaving in filth, you're probably going to get raped at some point, cops might beat you for fun sometines. What do you have to lose, really?'

Even when Trump is trying to deliver some kind of appeal to anyone besides his base, it comes off so racist lol. I don't even know why he's trying. He's polling at 2% of the back vote. Even if he fot a 100% increase that would 4%.

As someone wrote here on this site before, people with their heads on straight read "Black Lives Matter" as "Black Lives Matter, Too" and the racists and people who don't give a shit about black folks read "Black Lives Matter" as "Only Black Lives Matter."

Whoever said that pretty much nailed it.

Incredibly dangerous thinking

Dangerous maybe but all evidence suggests otherwise. Single digit support from black Americans, ~10% support from those from a hispanic background, very narrow lead amongst white voters.

If this was a sheer popularity contest, then maybe Trump can win. But it isn't, electoral college system makes sure that it isn't. Trump literally has no robust ground game in key swing states.

So yes dangerous. But Trump isn't going to win unless Hillary Clinton magically sets fire to Donald Trump during the debates while claiming she's the kin of Satin. I'm confident enough to throw down $20,000 on a Clinton victory because every single piece of evidence suggests that a man who have less support from minorities and white voters can previous Republican candidates should not win.

Black outreach.

You forgot the part where he said this in an area that's >90% white.

The Clinton Campaign's response has been so on point.
Donald Trump asks what the African American community has to lose by voting for him. The answer is "everything" from a man who questions the citizenship of the first African American President, courts white supremacists, and has been sued for housing discrimination against communities of color.

Trump painting the entire community as living in poverty with no jobs continues to show he is completely out of touch with the African American community.

Or as Hillary's twitter succinctly put it:

@HillaryClinton
This is so ignorant it’s staggering.

@Hill's words: "You don't change hearts"

I have to agree with her when it comes to individuals who have been absolutely poisoned by politics that incite fear, paranoia and anger - which is the Republican side in this case.

The ppl who have essentially staked their identities to the Republican party will never change of heart, unless it's something unbelievably eye opening, such as when the man who was about to go blind was able to crowdfund his way to surgery and realized Obamacare would have saved him.

The ppl whose beliefs are tied to the current Republican idealogies are basically never going to change. BLM has about the same likelihood of changing their hearts as a climatologist has of convincing them climate change is real. It's damning, it's frustrating, but it's also the truth.

Which explains why you can always count on Repubs to vote and 40% to almost always go towards a Republican candidate. Trump might cause a low turnout, but his toxic rhetoric alone is going to cement the crazier ones to maintain their support of the Republican party beyond this election.

Come on that can't be true. Surely he had water and shit in his trucks,

Apparently it also had blankets, school supplies etc.

I feel that of all the shitty things he's done, this one isn't that bad.

As for the fact that he was there for a minute to look good for the cameras? Yeah, politicians will do that. He still should have stayed giving out supplies for atleast a couple hours, if not the whole day.

Think about it.

This line of argument is the best the Republican black outreach team could come up with.

This is their pitch.

I'd go further and state that it doesn't need any implied words tacked on. "Black Lives Matter, Too" is viewing it from a white viewpoint. Black Lives Matter. No qualifiers needed.

Uh, so apparently I'm not middle class, working in a job in my career straight out of college, cause according to Trump's ridiculous and fake statistics that he pulls from his ass I'm not successful in any way.

How fucking dense can you be? How could you not see what you're saying is offensive? Why on Earth would you think any African American would want to vote for you ESPECIALLY after this comment??? Fuck off.

Just recognized that trump is trying to use African Americans to appeal to undecided voters(i.e. undecided white voters) which is really pathetic.

Damn. Well said.

"Trump doesn't care about African American voters and they don't care about him either. I find it pathetic how he's trying to pander to African Americans. The good thing is he won't get 5% of the African American vote on election day."

As previous posters have pointed out, this isn't trying to pander to African Americans. This is about creating the illusion that he's reaching out to African Americans in an attempt to pander to undecided White voters.

Which actually makes it worse.

This is their pitch.

If you really think about it, you realize Trump doesn't have a "black outreach" team and is just talking straight from his "big brain".

on a side note...

This guy is the worst person ever nominated by either party for president. Worst in every criteria imaginable. Intelligence, policy (which he has none), likeability, temperance, eloquence, looks, oration, maturity.

This is not even taking my political bias into account. On paper, his assery has shown no one politically skilled would ever side with him. The GOP, are undyingly loyal to the GOP and even their major players are staying away from him. The GOP would support Hitler if it benefitted them politically, but many GOP big names have shied away from him.

again...

He is the most un-qualified person EVER to have ever held the title of "republican nominee for president"

Just recognized that.It definitely is worse. I doubt the undecided white voters will fall for this.

I'm disappointed that you wasted this post on fucking TaterTots. Guy is beyond help.

The good thing about Trump in this election cycle is he's exposed his true self to the greater public. New Yorkers and anyone who has paid attention to this clown for 30+ years already knew what a racist fuckwit he is. Now, the rest of the country, and indeed the world, know.

His brand is fucked permanently. He might as well go out in a blaze of glory.

But hey, Donald, what do you have to lose?

Sadly I doubt that his business will be in any danger, I mean look at all those who are still supporting him, even with the holes he keep digging. Some people in this country will continue to respect him because he is a "powerful man".

Maybe he can let us know with a backdrop of a burning McLaren.

Shouldn't the fact such people may have very little means they have a lot to lose?

What little they have is all they have. Something Trump, Pence, and most of the Republican party actively stand to sabotage.
