Final Fantasy XV - 50 min video

My bad about earlier. Ferrari is confirmed to have designed Gentiana, but we don't know for sure if he designed Aranea. Posters speculated on GAF that he did because of how his previous designs are.

Aranea's design sucks. Come back when she isn't wearing a bizarre metal tank top that bares her midriff or her boobs, or shoes that aren't weird bulky weights and maybe she can be taken seriously as a fighter design.

Random just got yuffie! Doing a FF7 playthrough.

I'm actually playing black flag hahaha I've been singing fuck sea shanties all day.

Can't make a RTTP thread got juniored for 3 months.....it hurts :(

Whatever. I think I'll hit the duscae demo and stream tonight. Maybe get some discussions go with the viewers

Did they change the magic system? I don't see finite numbers under the magic icon anymore. That and it seems like they recharge now.

Look again. the player makes duelcast fire, and then when they uses it, it disappears. The scene then cuts to later in the battle, and there "seems" like fire is still there, but its a different spell.

It could be that you still have x amount of charges of a spell but you can't use them again until a 'magic use' timer resets. Probably because magic seems very OP thus far.

edit: I watched the video again and the icon vanishes after the spell is used, probably because it's used up.

no... that doesn't make any sense. It looks much more like magic (at least standard magic) in this game are just items used. You take elements, potentially add in an item, and you get the magic-item. Nothing we have seen of heard has ever suggested what you are insinuating.

edit: the recharge is to avoid spamming. Its not really a recharge.

Maybe' cooldown' is the better word. Some of the video does show a spell icon filling up as the battle progresses.

I watched some parts of it and it actually seems to run pretty well and the combat doesn't look terribad. Bad textures and IQ galore doe and there is something off about the VA. I'm playing Rogue Galaxy right now, a game that is 10 years old from ps2 era and that feels more consistent in VA than big budget modern day FF? Will definately play with japanese voices.

Hehe, do some of you remember these Versus prototype images from back in the days?

Looks like the one at the bottom was Niflheim (the larger image is from the recent E3 trailer):

Wow, amazing catch! That image is from like 2008!!

On a small note I have a feeling that the kingdom of Solheim has been removed from the game?

Lucis, Nifelheim, Accordo and Tenebrae are all in to varying levels, but Solheim has never been mentioned again since the E3 2013 trailer. My guess is that it would have played a key role in the "Versus epic" but for a standalone game it was simply too much perhaps.

I went back and rewatched the E3 trailer after the knowledge that we might have seen Niflheim, and it's very interesting how
there's a bunch of shit blowing up there, like an all out war. I guess it makes sense if they're going against an entire empire to reclaim their throne, but for some reason I never really thought about the idea of them building an actual army.

I guess the fact that there is a magical power source in the form of the crystal made me just imagine they'd take it by themselves and that would be enough to completely turn the tides. Not to mention the giant summons. But I guess you do need an army to win a war.

Anybody realize we still haven't seen lightning yet..aside from platinum demo

She must not be forgotten

It actually pisses me off so much that they removed the hardcoded subbed version from the official FFXV YouTube channel.

I just wanted to say that. That's the best quality we had too. :(

WHAT ARE YOU HIDING TABATAAAAAA
Kid Luna model looks so bad.

But anyway I'm saying it's interesting because we can now place some of the scenes we see there a bit better.

They downgraded it so much within such a short amount of time, that I find it impossible to believe that they thought they actually hit this target five months ago.
Maybe on PC.

This shot just completely stood out to me with how different it looks from the recent 50 minute video:

I mean really, the biggest difference from that screencap is gratituous amounts of flare/bloom.

You wouldn't even be able to tell nearly as easily if the bushes were billboards.

edit: There indeed is more foliage though.

Tbh make it sunset, and I guarantee that the shot will look very similar. The glare from the sun is what makes this shot.

It was likely a narrative decision to make it to early afternoon.

EDIT: Compared the foliage, the newer footage lacks a lot of it, but that doesn't change what I feel about the time of day being very important here.

Yep, the foliage density and draw distance were severely downgraded. There's also animal life in the corner. As for the narrative decision to change the time of day, it was a terrible decision as the sunset look is 100 times more aesthetically pleasing and actually helps to hide any visual blemishes.

Absolutely agree. The sunset looks amazing. Maybe it makes less logical sense to begin a journey at sunset, but I don't really care when it looks that good. You want to wow people.

Was gonna say it could have also been mid-morning, then I realized they're likely heading west (away from Insomnia) and assuming sun rises in the east and sets in the west... lol.

Guess it would have been kinda silly to have that, the initial hammerhead cutscenes, give control to the player then it's already time to camp!

In that case it also should be sunset in every cutscene tbh.

That Ardyn one especially.

Yeah, game looks much better at night and at sunset. I guess the main thing here is that this is pretty much the opening scene in the game and you want to make that strong first impression.

This is probably crazy, but here's my new theory: they purposefully uglied up the 50 minute footage so that the polished and patched version in 2 months reaps the benefit of low expectations.

Of course, pre-release footage that looks bad could depress sales, so they wouldn't really do that, right?

They said, they haven't shown like 50-60% of all existing regions and cities to us in the game yet. Among shown I include Accordo and Tenebrae. So, that means a good chunk is still unknown to us, very likely including Solheim and Niflheim.

Ah the Bargaining stage

We've seen the assault on Nifleheim military base early this year.

God the magic system is amazingly awkward.

Multiple developers have already mastered how to do melee and magic combat in action games.Even square's own KH teams now exactly how to do action combat and large scale battles.

FFXV ignores all that and tries to reinvent instead of refine and improve. The result is awkward and confused at best.

That's exactly this should've been done by the KH team ,because they know exactly how to do all these concepts that Tabata desperately tries to achieve.

this dude has his picture taken while sleeping in a public place.

is his co-worker gonna freak out?

and it seems monsters spawn in the road while driving at night according to the long video?

Different monsters come out at night, such as the Naga, Iron Giant, and Goblin.

We do know from the 50min footage that the bases are all over the place though (Cor asks Noctis to take out a new one close by)

Yeah but that one was particularly in Nifelheim so we go there at some point.
Which reminds me. I kinda hope that the same plaza we've seen for years isn't everything there is left of Insomnia in the game.
