Context: After sustaining multiple serious head injuries, WWE has refused to clear Daniel Bryan for in-ring competition, leading him to retire from wrestling.

After taking a cursory glance at the opinions of the experts in the pro wrestling community thread:

Holy shit, Miz went straight for the jugular.

And yeah, everyone that knows how Bryan feels about having to retire and how he looked at Miz knows that walkout wasn't a work*, or rather, the walkout might have been scripted, but there was legit emotion by Bryan there. And Miz had tears in his eyes at the end, so he knew that stung Daniel, I think. Half work/Half shoot* is the best promo material, fire all the writers, let wrestlers do their own stuff and voila, magic.

Of course it's a work*, but it's shoot* enough to put seeds of doubt in people's heads and that's when wrestling feuds are at their best. When you're wondering, even when you know it's a work because everything logical tells you it is, whether just a bit of what was said was real. That's what made CM Punk so good, he always made you wonder like that, and it's been missing from most of wrestling ever since.

Every once in a while, though, someone hits that note, but I don't think I've seen it done this well in a long time. Well done, Miz.

Their consensus seems to be that it was real, but initially fake; some elements were real but overall it was fake.

So I wanted to ask the normal people on this forum to watch the video and hopefully shed some light on it with fresh eyes for those that no longer know which way is up.

*Work: Fake

*Shoot: Real

It's wrestling. It's a work. That it has elements of real life is what makes it a good work.

And of course we have Bryan saying he doesn't trust doctors. Ridiculous. Everything about him is unsafe, and it's a shame. He was fun to watch but I want him to live. I don't like that he's reckless, questioning doctors, ignoring their advice, picking his own doctors for "new and untested methods" and being anti vax.

#TeamWork as other posters pointed out, but that was a damn good promo by Miz. Haven't kept up with him in the WWE since his big 2011 push, but that was a huge improvement so kudos to him

The only think that makes me think it could be a shoot was Renee- she looks so confused/nervous, and I don't think she is a good enough actor to pull it off.

Otherwise, the fact that every thing Miz says is in character should tell you that it's a work

bean breath, there is not a single doubt in my mind that Mike "The Miz" Mizanin was shooting in that video.

You don't get a meme based off the infamous Spongebob Mr. Krabs with a work.

Friend Bean, you're asking me to choose between:

1. Believing professional wrestling went off script and into the realm of realness on a pay subscription professional wrestling streaming service.

or

2. Believing Bryan Danielson and Mike Mizanin are skilled enough film and television actors to put themselves on the verge of artificial tears.

And why would I want them?
It's a work, but like i said in the main thread, there was real emotion and truth to what the Miz said to Bryan. I think being called a Coward the way Bryan said it, especially right in front of Miz's wife, fuckin hurt, and miz came back with shit that he knew would hurt Daniel.

20 minutes after this happened they were back stage drinking beers and laughing it up.

I figured it was probably a work but it doesn't keep me interested in the product. If there was more good wrestling, I would care. Can't wait for football to start.

It's a work. It's also probably the best promo Miz has ever given. On that note, Miz is also criminally underrated and is easily one of the best heels in the company.

Guys, why aren't more people talking about Vince getting blown up when his limo exploded? Shouldn't there be more news about this man getting killed in such an incredible fashion?

More good wrestling? Pal, you gotta watch that AJ Styles vs Cener.

It would be a bit weird for 'The Miz' character to be shouting about how he is always here for the fans and loves them and all that, and it seems like he makes a VERY deliberate pivot at a certain moment in this video to try and get back on a different message about the relevance of the IC title, but I think that this was one of those promos with a lot of truth spliced in there.

They don't acknowledge on-air deaths. The original undertaker died at Royal Rumble 1994 and they replaced him with some lookalike with a weirdo biker fetish.

It is obviously a work, It just wasn't completely scripted like everything else on WWE. One of the best promos in years though, The Miz impressed the shit out of me.

Clearly a work but Miz made me slightly interested in watching this. And from what I hear Ziggler is big time too? Might have to tune in.

It's a work. In my day, Arn and Ole would have dropped Brian on the floor and broke his arm. Good work by Miz. Get fired up son.

I liked the Miz before but now I'm a fan of his work. He did a great job with that promo and showed raw emotion. Bryan sold it well the way he walked off.
