PS4 Pro specs revealed - 4.2TF, 8GB GDDR5, up to 310W power consumption

Every single leak about ps4k/slim has been damn on point. Even the damn "two-ps4slim-ducttaped-together" design.

I wonder if Ms will match that price at a higher performance (including 4k bluray).

No last minute spec bumps? I'm positively flabbergasted.
From the previous leaks, there was a higher spec version being considered along with what we're getting here, but it was probably axed due to being too pricey.

That $399 price-tag seems to a noose for a supposedly premium device.

Because people keep coming up with the 60fps-patch-wishes I have to ask:

Can this machine even make games run on 1080p/60fps if they were previously running on 1080p/30fps without sacrificing graphical fidelity?

going to be interesting to see what games can be driven at 4k on a 4.2tf gpu

Cerny was pretty open about this. He acknowledged that 'brute force native' 4K is a challenge for a console in 2016, so typically other techniques will be tapped to construct a 4K output (upscaling from the likes of 1800p+, checkerboard rendering etc.) He mentioned there was custom hardware in there in that vein, although it's probably just extra stuff in the scaler to perhaps help with checkerboard techniques or whatnot.

If MS launches at $399, then Sony just drops the price. Xbox can't afford to follow suit after a PS4P price drop. PS2 vs Xbox all over again

Ugh, I'm probably going to get one for better-running PS4 games, but the decision to not include a UHD Blu Ray player means I'm buying an X1S to replace my day one X1. I guess that I'm part of the problem buying up every new version of hardware despite the value proposition being shaky as fuck. At least, MS has a pretty easy target for Scorpio next year.

I don't get why people are upset about this, because when it first leaked, people were really pissed abount incremental upgrades, and now it's too low ?

Whatever, I am indifferent as of know.

Are they gonna use interlacing(?) to achieve 4k?
The same thing they used for Killzone to give it a higher resolution or wont that work this way?

Native 4K rendering or upscaling?

~1800p I guess.

Which is around 5760000 pixels compared to 2073600 at 1080p.

Which is a pretty great update 3 years after launch imo. 2.77 times the resolution. IQ will greatly improve. Having seen 1800p content I can tell you it looks a lot better than 1080p.

If they were GPU alu-bound, yeah. If they're badly CPU bound (frametime >22ms), or memory bandwidth bound, then no.

So some games could get that boost.

I would say Scorpio is gonna murder this but it's also a year out so I guess it's to be expected. I can't see Sony coming out with the PS5 next year so it's gonna be a really interesting E3 when MS rolls out Scorpio (assuming they do it at that event).

This seems about as uninteresting a release for me as you could get and I'll definitely stick with my current PS4 until the Pro comes down in price. $399 is a bit steep for what they're giving us in my opinion.

I cannot imagine how how hot and big the Scorpio will be.

It seems AMD still have not fixed their problem of having hot chips.

edit: This might be a typo. I hope so.

#1. 399 Price is attractive
#2. If it does better at 1080p

its good enough for me.

Of course I am going to get the Scorpio as well

USB 3.1 and AC wireless? Good. I can totally understand why this console doesn't have UHD Blu ray. It's not like regular Blu Ray movies are flying off the shelves right now anyways, and that's with most people owning 1080p sets.

That seems...underwhelming, I guess. Was hoping for higher, but that hope wasn't based on any real news.
