PS4 Pro specs revealed - 4.2TF, 8GB GDDR5, up to 310W power consumption

No please, not again...

Hahahahahahah

This is a fail of epic proportions. No 4k blu-ray. Huge console. >300w power consumption. That's more than my 60" Plasma (!). WTF is this.

I cannot imagine how how hot and big the Scorpio will be.

It seems AMD still have not fixed their problem of having hot chips.

edit: This might be a typo. I hope so.

If it has a Zen CPU it well worth it a console capable of 1080/60 in 90% of games.

Specs are in-line with my expectations (Dare I ask what the the insiders have to say?).

I don't know why they list the 310W as maximum power consumption? It is the rated output !

Really annoys me. PS4 had a 250W PSU and used 150W at launch.

The Xbone S looks better and better.

An actual 4k UHD Blu-ray player with low power consumption to boot.

Sony done messed this one up.

If it has a Zen CPU it well worth it a console capable of 1080/60 in 90% of games.

Buddy check again its Jaguar! There is not a single engineering Zen chip with stable clocks yet let alone ready for mass production. Its still 30fps
But it might be usefull for cold countries as a heater with those 310w

From the previous leaks, there was a higher spec version being considered along with what we're getting here, but it was probably axed due to being too pricey.

That $399 price-tag seems to a noose for a supposedly premium device.

Maybe they release it next year.

Still hyped! 4.2 teraflops and Jaguar cores is a little disappointing though.

No UHD blu-ray player? Wow, I wonder why? Maybe it was to make it cheaper?

I'm still watching the stream and they've been talking about the hardware, it sounds like they're using something to get games to run at 4K, I'm not sure what technique they're using though.

Its upto 310 watts. It does not mean it will be running at 310 watts all the time just like PC. Only some games that requires that power will do so

Bluetooth 4.0 thank fucking god I'm going crazy with the interference between my controller and console because they chose to put 2.1 in the og ps4

they want you to pay $400 to replace your 3 year old console with another 3 year old console, which is twice the size and power hungry, but has a gimped verison of a $230 GPU.

So of it's not native, and a 4K TV is upscaling the image anyway, what advantages does the Pro offer over a regular PS4 when it comes to 4K?

The 1080p image upscaled to 4K from a standard PS4 is not going to look as good as the 1800p+ (i.e. >2x the res of 1080p) image output and upscaled from a PS4 Pro.

It's not typically going to be 4K native, but it's going to be a lot more native pixels to work with in the upscaling process than the standard is putting out.

310w? I though the EU didn't allowed consoles to go that high.

Everything else is just what everyone reasonable expected so no surprises there.

- optical out
- 3 x USB 3.1
- WiFi AC
- $399

Day 1

If there is a frame rate lock on multiplayer games to match the fps of the PS4, I will not be buying this. This software lock makes no sense.

If they wanted, they should have separated the pool or allowed the option for ps4 players to play with ps4 pro players knowing that there is a difference in framerate.
