I was planning on getting a Neo because I thought, assuredly they were going to try to compete with the Scorpio? Maybe not fully compete, but at least better than the XB1S.
So if the Neo is Super Saiyan 1 Goku at the end of the Frieza saga, what is the scorpio in terms of power levels?
Yes, that's 4KindaCough PR Cough
As we so lovingly dubbed Microsoft's efforts to reach 1080p on Xbox One with some of their titles.
OG PS4 is already better than XB1S... Pro is in a whole new level.@Specs

What was Sony thinking with that decision?

Is this true? I mean will all games run better on a 1080p tv just by default? Or it's developer option?
Where are people getting this idea that the Xbox one s has some type of spec bump. I've seen quite a few people mention it already.

What? It's not upscaled but games will be upscaled? Wtf you talking about dude? You just contradicted yourself in the same post lol.Because it's not upscaled & the games that are being upscaled are being upsaled from 1800P or higher.
No. Only the games with "forward compatibility" will have additional features for Pro. All other games will play as normal, and be upscalable to 4k from 1080p / whatever it renders at. I'd guess that list will grow over time, especially as Pro gets more traction from users and there is a reason for devs / pubs to do it
What does "custom chip single processor" mean? Like it's all on the same APU?
CPU + GPU in a single processor called APU... custom is because it uses a config specific to Pro that AMD won't sell to consumers. What does "custom chip single processor" mean? Like it's all on the same APU?
Im slightly underwhelmed by the PS4 Pro. I think Sony have rushed out with this product when there was no reason to. Everything was in their favour but this looks like a misstep. A bad one at that. PS4 is selling like hotcakes. A revised slim was a good start. Lower the cost and build on that.
Neo seems weak with its Jaguar CPU and just the same 8gb Ram and 4.2TF GPU. No UHD Blu-ray drive either.
Your never gonna convince the premium market and PC players with this poorly planned system.
What they should have done is maybe released in March 2017 with a Zen/RX480 APU with 12gb Ram. UHD Blu-ray drive as standard. Launched with a premium improved Dualshock 4. The Machine all round would have been better and powerful.
Um...what is this? Is this the official name for the Neo?
And is that 8 gigs of additional RAM or the same amount as in the PS4?
It's a PS4 with an upgraded GPU and I think a clock boost on CPU

This is the Neo.So this is different than the Neo?
So this is different than the Neo?
After all that hype in the last thread I just feel "meh".
going to be interesting to see what games can be driven at 4k on a 4.2tf gpu

It seems like such a weak upgrade. Yes, it's a bump but not THAT much of a bump. It's just enough to run 4k and probably only at 30fps at best.
I would have been much happier if they would have just made it for PS4k with HDR, UHD Blu-ray and 4k output for $300-350.
A year from now, Scorpio is set to blow it away and then what? PS5? It feels like Sony is competing with themselves.
doesn't "Forward Compatibility" apply to already released games? I think all upcoming games should support the power of PS4Pro via day one patch.
This is the Neo.
This is pretty much 100 percent on point with the Neo leaks from Orsisblack (?) back in April, the 399 4.2TF version.
How's mister cteam over in Russia?Yep, didn't say it was under, said it's close. Like people saying the Pro is to the Scorpio.
But wild the One S has the player in it, while a member of the BD group who started it all doesn't. Guess they wanted to hit 399 price point.
It doesn't matter. THat's the thing. Sony are not trying to compete with Scorpio, this is a detour to them. MS are trying to claw their way back with a powerful unit.
Sony are focused on the long game, using the NEO to stretch out time until PS5 comes around.
Anyone who is disappointed, you did it to yourself
How's mister cteam over in Russia?
Except it's not.Yep, didn't say it was under, said it's close.
Sony biggest mistake was the footage they first showed needed something with hdr and 4k to actually show the difference. Many people didn't see any difference so they were disappointed. I think if they showed Horizon footage first people reaction would have been a bit different.

Interesting.
So my next question: isn't it kind of pointless to have a significantly upgraded GPU if you keep the same amount of RAM? Wouldn't that be a pretty big bottleneck?
The specs aren't there for the 4k push, plus no drive, makes me think that they're not quite ready for 4k. So the Pro is just a spec bump like the N3DS, which might benefit some existing games and something a few newer ones will take advantage of.
PS4 1000 had a 250 W PSU but only got up to 140 W
Will this add better framerate at 1080p or not?
I imagine not. Devs wont want to have a 4k version at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps
