When they were driving suddenly I remembered a video I watched in middle school, it was called She She She She's a Bombshell. Turns out the guys who made that and I'm in ur manger killing ur savior have been working on Steven Universe the whole time and I never knew. I loved their stuff when I was younger.

2. I love Pearl so fucking much.

The reaction of this episode is really negative on /co/. I think they're primarily butthurt because the mysterious girl checks off a bunch of "tumblr girl" design quirks and the episode was too lesbian for their tastes. Some are calling it the worst SU episode ever lol.

I guess if you don't care about SU in the first place you might miss out on what makes the episode good.

I don't know what they expected from a show made an artistic, nerdy, bisexual woman with a short hair cut and a distinctly progressive view on sexuality.

Ehhhhh that's only outside the general thread and only after it aired, the leak impressions were positive. You're reading bandwagon hate for every non plot episode as usual.

So, are we gonna comment on how fucked up it is that Pearl is lusting after her BECAUSE she loooks like her dead girlfriend? I mean, steven was seriously weirded out about it.

Last week's episode was lackluster as fuck so glad this one was pretty good. I think my favorite part was the quotes from Steven, the first about the Rose similarities and the second referencing when Pearl let him take that fall, glad he said that.

her son should learn to keep his mouth shut

Just think about it, it's unfair to the mystery girl that pearl just would want Rose 2.0, Steven was right to point out the freakiness of her looking like his mom.

Isn't /co/ just a bunch of guys who want to fuck cartoon characters?

It's also a collective of artists, content creators (webcomics, etc), comic and/or cartoon enthusiast and the obligatory dose of internet trolls.

I mean, take potshots at /co/ all you want, but they created the tracker people in here keep using to get the leaks and they have been referenced in cartoons and comics way more than GAF have. Plus, most of the art people in /co/ have tumblrs anyway, people who bitch about "things being too tumblr" /sug/ are basically the trolls.

Is it fucked up? People experience strong and conflicting emotions when they meet someone who reminds them of a former relationship or someone who has died. I think Steven's outburst was used to lampshade the weird and humorously dark side of the situation.

However the show is generally more positive about people, relationships, and personal development than that. It would not fit that Pearl stays broken and unrequited forever. This episode seems like the beginning of Pearl evolving, and exploring what makes herself tick. Unnamed Pink Human's appearance was just Pearl realizing she has a "type". Pearl has suffered from seeing Rose as her validation for existing. Pearl only felt she mattered when she did things to please or honor Rose. Now Pearl starts to see there are things she wants for herself.

I don't think there's anything wrong with pearl having a type

now if she starts asking her to dress in long flowing dresses we may say pearl has a problem

Yes it is, because the new girl is blatantly Rose with a punk rock alternate skin.

I understand what you're saying, but it really sends ,mixed signals when "Mr. Greg" showed her expressing readiness to move on, but now she is going after someone because she looks like the women she was just ready to move on from? That's pretty messed up, i believe it would have been a better choice to make mystery girl have a different design from rose, they could still have kept her huge and all, but like, not so blatantly on the nose being Rose with a different wig.

I have enough confidence in the writers of SU that I expect it's going to follow one of two paths. 1. Pearl accidentally slips into projecting some of Rose onto a new person - which is also normal, and a thing people have to work through. There will be a confrontation, but ultimately for the better. 2. Pearl sees the new person's own unique personality, realizes she can relate to someone besides Rose, and experiences a major moment of growth.

And if the writers decide it's an ongoing relationship for Pearl, 1 would lead naturally into 2.

She doesn't move like Rose, or act like Rose in what we've seen. It's not a fantasy being handed to Pearl.

And I mean come on - it's Steven Universe. If the show does something so blatant, you know it's going to seriously go places with it.

Yep.

But shes already shown reflecting Rose unto other people so hopefully in her effort to be her own she will have to overcome it.

Also if it did happen i would like to think she would be called out on it by almost everyone (with Steven being at the top of the list) imo.

As others have already stated, Pearl just has a type. Mystery Girl has similar features to Rose, features that Pearl finds attractive. But Pearl knows damn well that she's not Rose, and as we just saw, she's treating her like a completely separate person.

I don't know why anyone would doubt mystery girl's return, lesser characters have returned in this series already and the series is pretty focused on developing its characters and not dropping threads.

I also hope this is the first step to involving the gems in more 'beach city' episodes and visa versa. We're finally getting to a point where Steven is being a connector and making the gems and humans interact more with each other, and one of the biggest flaws of the series thus far has been the absolute seperation of the beach city and 'main' episodes. I think blurring the lines more is only a good thing.

Season 1 Pearl looked alright aside from Laser Light Cannon and Cheeseburger Backpack.

And Say Uncle was a fun episode. I don't like Uncle Grandpa at all, but his brand of humor works a lot better when he has normal characters to react to his hi-jinks.

I liked Say Uncle *and* I like Uncle Grandpa (in appropriate doses). There's something to be said for full-on weird humor, and I like the Don Martin influence.

I'm mixed on the Ronaldo episodes because I find him annoying, although I liked seeing him as a kid and I liked that he figured out the Cluster/Gems thing at one point.
