A Christian woman took her concerns to YouTube after discovering a Vince Staples song while driving her 11-year-old daughter to school. The emotional rant has been a popular topic on Reddit today (October 4). In the video, she is visibly upset and in tears, saying, “I can’t believe this stuff is on the radio. This is what our youth is being subjected to.”

She then goes on to quote the lyrics from Staples’ track “Norf Norf,” repeating the words, “Bitch you thirty/please grab a Sprite/my crips lurking/don’t die tonight.”

Go listen to Vince Staples new EP "Prima Donna". It's pretty dope.

Moms got flow. NERF NERF REMIX

Youtube of the video. feed her the clicks.

she drops the n-word like it wasn't nothing

omfg her face when she gets to "hos needs abortions" her face is so distraught

Norf this.

And where has this lady been the past 2 decades? They used to play Lil Jon's "Get low" on my schoolbus in high school.

Sheltered white people man...I was listening to Eminem and Dre back when I was 10, 11. That's what, third fourth grade? Yeah, they were my favorite at the time.

Oh she's a Christian too.....doesn't change anything but wow.

Vince is gonna have a field day with this

I remember him saying in a video that his mom never let him listen to hip hop when he was young 'cause she loved him lmao

LOL. Ignoring the fact that Staple's work is by and large an indictment of the gang life environment (thus the stark unglamorized portrayal of guns +violence) I find it fascinating she found a way to avoid listening to basically lyrics for all these years, lol

This is the face of white privilege. Little does she know that Vince Staples music is Kendrick Lamar levels of conscious. I mean yeah kids shouldn't listen to it, but okay.... shut the radio off

I'll never understand how progressive people seem to be so okay with lyrics like this, but yeah as others have said this has been going on for decades and being so worried that you are brought to tears? I don't want to be the asshole that ignores someones feelings, but yeah this is music, and there are ways to deal with this stuff if you have children that aren't on either extreme of banning music privileges or complete and total ignorance.

Am I just not seeing the YouTube link?

It's in the article, but here it is too...

It shouldn't take a progressive person to understand that the things he describes in his songs are a way of life for a lot of people in this country and that he also isn't glorifying any of it. he in fact rally's against it considerably, even in this song.

And it's funny since the music video for this video is him getting arrested and put in jail.

Though I understand being upset. My parents weren't thrilled with getting me rap albums. Still have Juvenile - 400 degrees with the scrambled lyrics.

It's not up to anyone to be okay or not okay with the lyrics, as they describe a hyper-reality of America not some idealized pop message that's supposed to be something anyone strives for.

I mean, just in this song's case, listen to the super menacing beat accompanying these lyrics. Do you think the lyrics are meant to be taken as positive?

I knew she said the N-word in the video but I wasn't prepared. I got up to the first instance and...she enunciates nigga well.

I was surprised. Still watching the video.

Edit: ooooh. Just got to that 7:08 mark. I take back everything I said.

Everybody wants attention. She could just turn off the radio but nope. It's all about her, not what her daughter is listening to.
