Much better. Glad I still kept my DE preorder.
Graphically it definitely looks better, which is nice, but the combat still looks so simplistic and floaty. The end fight of the Platinum Demo just killed any of my excitement for the gameplay, and it looking and running better doesn't fix that.
I really hope so, maybe around the Pro's launch period, but keep in mind that Square Enix has zero interest in sending the message that the XB1 and PS4 versions are inferior even if they are because that's where they're going to make their money, just like no publisher is going to push the PC version of their multiplatform games separately to highlight the differences, actually they want to sell the PC version as if it was the console one, but that's an other issue![]()
Here's a couple from the opening scene. Stupid how much better it looks.
I love it when gaffers before we're thinking it's he hardware holding the game back. The devs wanted a different e look, the fan reception was negative - so they made it look different again and better in most people's eyes. Along with improving the jaggies and such. They got rid of that weird vaseline look. Much better.
Well according to SE the game was done they were going to just strictly focus on polish. If that's true and you have a Team the size of the FFXV one (several hundred people) just focusing on building nothing new and just optimizing the experience you can get a lot done
Y'all are talking like this is a common graphical jump in the last 4/5 months of development so I'd love some similar examples where this has happenedGame development doesn't work on a linear path.

There's a lot more strategy involved in those older games than just running to an enemy and holding a button to attack. I didn't like the combat in either of the two demos I played but I'm willing to change my mind if they've made upgrades and there's more to it than presented in those demos.
Also, the car gets really bad gas mileage.
They have done a bang up job and making the visuals much better in a short amount of time. It's telling when you can see the difference in shitty quality YouTube videos. Can't wait for the gamersyde uploads so I can feast on the visuals.
Oh, and the animations are some top tier quality stuff.
For what it's worth, imho, the voice acting is still shit tier and off putting, but fingers crossed the eventual pc version has the Japanese voices so I can lose myself is what looks to be a great game and the first time in years I have played a FF.
We will see the Pro version of basically every game that releases once they are ready to be shown. 90% of all multiplat games show primarily PC footage over console footage because it's the best looking.
The only reason we haven't seen an extensive FFXV Pro trailer is because the Pro version just isn't ready
It's definitely not simplistic. It does have quite a bit of animation priority, and that makes it a bit too unresponsive for many people, and I can definitely understand that, but it has a lot of depth, that's undeniable.

From what I've personally played, Duscae was more pleasing to my eye than the March demo. Even though one was a year older, there's much that can change when devs have a vision where it looks (or looked) better for them but ultimately changed it back.
Isn't there supposed to be something like the gambit system from FFXII? I haven't heard it talked about much I don't think, but I don't follow all of the info to a tee either.
Exactly, they show the PC footage as representative of ALL the platforms but the point is that they don't tell you.
Here it's different, a publisher has to release a trailer for a specific console that is only going to highlight how the other versions look poor in comparisons doing the marketing work for a platform holder when they are used to do the opposite (they try to pretend there are no differences and whatever you choose is good).
Of course I think in general we'll get Pro trailers of upcoming games but I expect the matter to be handled with care by publishers.
The fact that the Pro version isn't ready is possible but if they showed a minute in a private theatre at TGS and it looked stunning it's obvious that they could show more. Also the Gamescom footage wasn't ready as well and looking poor and yet they showed 52 minutes of it.
I think the reason we're not seeing much of the Pro is just that the focus right now is on selling the normal versions and showcase how much they're improving them given all the concerns.
2 lateThe battle music at the desert area right at the start sounds slightly different.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Yup, effective use of warp alone opens up a pretty rich tactical vein, and there's a ton of other stuff going on with cooperative and party member attacks, multiple types of magic, aerial combat, weapon switching, etc.
If anything, I think there will end up being complaints that there's too much to manage in higher level play.

OMG NOI thought you were referring to Veiled in Black (the one used in Duscae night rearranged for the Nifl base trailer). I'm talking about the one at the start which is the arrangement of the Platinum Demo battle theme.
edit: you apparently got your latin names mixed up lolol
Yeah that was a nice little touch. The characters put their arms up to indicate whether they can equip the item highlighted.
How do we know if this is the final build? They can keep working on it more until the gold copy, right?
Awesome, thanks for this.
Now I'm just hoping for a consistently good story and I might actually get damn hyped.
The bushes are saved \o/
Dunno why that slipped by them. The lack of positional audio is seriously bugging me. It handicaps the immersion.
The Crunch is real, damn. Tabata and his team must've worked themselves to the bone and then some. Props on him. Despite his questionable design choices, he's at least putting games out. Nomura could learn a thing or two

It's standard for voice over to come through the center channel, especially during cut-scenes. It's how movies do it.
Kinda fuckin weird there was this much of an improvement in the last couple of months of developmwnt
They keep pimping their engine as being so cutting edge, and it cannot bother doing a thing games have been doing for over a decade.

Unfortunately not, going by the "Photo Rookie" and "Quadruple Wielder" (last one is loosely translated from Japanese) trophies.Noct You Like a Hurricane?
I wonder if all the trophy names will be goofy like that.
Also, this fucking combat music is so good.
It's a creative choice.
It really isn't. I don't get why so many people responded to the delay with sentiments like this.
Polish and performance improvements are always happening at the end of the dev cycle. It's really just that we got an unusually frank look at pre-final versions of this game.
