Yikes at their final thoughts. Doesn't seem to be all that excited : /
I'm glad Dan said something about how people in chat are either experiencing the same issues, or not at all. It seems to be hit or miss right now.

That's overly harsh and it's subjective. I'm personally not invested, but most people seem to be enjoying it. He probably genuinely enjoys it himself. Posts like this aren't much better than the one you replied to.Bless him. He's invested himself in something that isn't very good and he just can't come to terms with it.
Yeah it's a real shame more people aren't mindlessly throwing $400-560 dollars at something that could be fine, could be somewhat mediocre, or could be really fucked up.Because this idea that there is a widespread, serious tracking issue with PSVR leads to posts like this:
Which I think is really too bad. If someone really wants a VR headset, and gets scared off buying one because they think the GB guys' experience represents the majority of people's experience with PSVR, I think that's a shame.
I'm at work but I take it tracking still giving them issues? I was ready to cancel my preorder after the first stream but decided to hang on to it. Played close to 4 hours before work and it was fantastic/ worked near flawlessly. I was even impressed by the IQ and lack of noticeable SDE. Shit is awesome, but it sounds like they are still having issues? Drive Club is the only thing that made me want to puke, but everything else is awesome on my end
And yet as an example there are massive bloom splotches all over their calibration view from the camera. PSVR is entirely reliant on room lighting and how surfaces may be bouncing light.
People are trying to defend that psvr doesn't have issues are delusional. Face facts people it does. Hopefully it can be ironed out!

Would it have satisfied this notion if they'd turned all the studio lights off and tried it?
I have. I've used the product. Until Dawn? It was fine.Maybe visit other websites, most other impressions suggest this isn't widespread. Also jump into NeoGAF's very on PSVR launch thread, where, us, the players have our units and are also not having these issues.
hey guys how's it going?
Yeah I was super worried after the last stream but got mine today and I've had no issues with it. Will be interested to hear if this is a more widespread issue or what exactly might be causing it.

you can't please these people, Jeff has stated time and time again that they shut all the lights off, dimmed them, removed the screen and the problems still persisted, but people blindly look past that.
Stuff will definitely improve, there are a bunch more games to play on the Vive compared to launch for example.
Look at the PS4 itself, a gaming machine built on more than 2 decades of Sony knowledge, and it still took it 1-2 years to get a good library.
The technology of VR is here, and it works. The software will take time, but it will get there.
It's also been out for around 24 hours. So we'll just say the jury is still out. I hope I'm wrong. I really do.Some headsets seem to work just fine. Different people have different experiences. That's not surprising, it's the first product.
Let's just all relax for a moment here. It's all right. Everything is fine. Kingdom Hearts 3 is still coming out.
Sony really should have chosen a better tracking technology than the one they've chosen.
I don't think VR is about games. It just isn't and there's nothing I've seen that proves me wrong.
VR is a great technology that will have games built for it (maybe even great games) but the future of VR won't be games. As I've said before, Facebook didn't buy Oculus because of video games.
Sony making a VR headset is, honestly, baffling to me. They are the one company that is totally weird in this race. Which I guess is way I'm very curious what they will do with it.
I think consumer VR is going to be mobile and professional VR is what the Vive will be. That's my guess right now.
Sony VR is just a weird middle of the road thing that's too expensive for casual use and doesn't offer the access to working tools that Vive and Oculus will offer.
I had a hearty laugh at the admission. Unreal.I dunno that anything on Gaf will ever top "Oh I'm not watching the stream" after complaining about it for hours in the thread
It's just too perfect
Yeah, seriously. Of the 3 PSVR games I'd be interested in, two of them don't require VR and one of those is a rerelease of a 15 year old game. Also if people are worried about Sony losing sales they should probably be paying more attention to the fact that we just watched 6.5 hours of largely unappealing experiences than the fact that the sensors jiggle a little under certain conditions.

Love it😁I dunno that anything on Gaf will ever top "Oh I'm not watching the stream" after complaining about it for hours in the thread

It makes me laugh that posters are trying to dismiss GB's issues by insisting there are so many people playing without issue - meanwhile GB attempted to get a multiplayer game going with one of the biggest releases and can't even find 1 other person in matchmaking.
It's almost like the product is very new and it's impossible to get a genuine consensus yet...
This post should be in the next OP or something.Have they tried turning off the coloured lights? Seems the most likely culprit to me.
Jesus christ... Why do people trust these guys again?
It has hit the streets. Read the OT.
No one is saying that they weren't having issues at home as well, what people are saying is that we don't know how their home setup looks, and that most people don't seem to be having any major problems.

VR's value for flight and driving sims is obvious.
It has a lot of untapped potential for theraputic use, too. What a great tool for helping people overcome a fear of heights, for example.

So anyone who buy's a psvr may or may not have to remove most of there furniture. That's a good advertisement!I know they did that and problems persisted, that's fine.
Maybe in their case it's both hardware and software or something else in the room. Either way light tracking is finicky shit so I don't blame them for it, but it makes me feel better after spending the money that the amount
of issues people have seems to vary.
Due to NDAs....no, they haven't.Have they streamed themselves playing with PSVR? If not, you don't really know what their setup was like at the time they encountered these problems. One guy in the OT solved his problems by just shutting off a lamp in the background, another by closing the curtains.
Good of you to provide full disclosure like that.Sorry, but I'm not watching the stream. I've never liked GB
I know they tried stuff, but based on this particular stream it seems they don't actually know what they need to look out for. Video tracking by its very nature is limited in scope and has several issues. You can see the same problems when using a webcam to do simple facial capture (Logitech, Adobe Character Animator, etc.).You do know that they most likely tried all kinds of things since they got the headset from last week till now. I mean they keep mentioning they kept changing stuff, only Brad saw improvements when he moved around some furniture.
I'd like to read up more impressions though. Me personally, I'm thinking of getting one early next year, too many games coming out at the moment.
I'm not really bothered, but I do have some history with Jeff (and previously Ryan) and like GiantBomb, so naturally I want them to have a better experience and not feel nauseous. Also, Brad did run into tracking issues a few times today. Why are you so bothered by their setup? Brad (the guy on the sofa) hasn't complained about tracking today, so obviously their studio isn't interfering as much as you think.
Any complaints today seem mostly down to poor quality software.

I get where you are coming from, and I agree that the biggest market of VR in the later future will not be gaming related.
But I still think it has a place in gaming, Budget Cuts was the game that opened my eyes to that.
I know they did that and problems persisted, that's fine.
Also, with the couch closer Brad seemed to have less problems today than last week overall.

I still wouldn't recommend a PS VR to anyone. If you are an enthusiast you are better with a Vive and if you are casual you are better just waiting until mobile VR gets to a better place or just buy a Pixel and Google Daydream.
I'm still "wait and see" on that front but I'm not discarding VR video games entirely. I think game devs are creative enough to do cool stuff with any piece of technology really. I think VR will be its own genre with a bunch of cool stuff to play.

Don't be silly. PSVR is perfect and it's only Giant Bomb having issues on the whole of the internet because: reasons.I've been reading a few impressions in GAF thread and there are people experiencing issues as well. Some fixed it with calibration, others moved stuff and yet there are a few who straight up have issues.

You know what was the even bigger issue they ran into? Heavily compromised and borderline-shovelware games.
Ain't no tweaking gonna fix that.
Nah, Mr. Hot take, that wasn't the bigger issue. But yes, a lot of it is flaming garbage. You know what was the even bigger issue they ran into? Heavily compromised and borderline-shovelware games.

Perfect.
yeah after like, what, 30 hours+ of these streams, it's become pretty clear to me that if you're really into VR, you should just buy a vive, no question. anything else seems like a bad compromise.
