is that a screenshot of a video or just poorly compressed? cus there's macroblocking everywhere :P

Was just wondering the same exact thing. I noticed when playing the early campaign missions that the videos don't look nearly as good as the gameplay actually does. Though I'd bet that the videos are encoded at 1080p and me playing at 1440p is the reason.

I've since completely rewritten the custom DSR resolution guide and tool. The process now looks like this:

1. Export your Nvidia DSR registry settings.
2. Use this tool to generate the registry data for up to 10 custom resolutions.
3. Swap that into your exported registry file and save. Double click that file to import your registry settings.
4. Use DevManView to toggle your display adapters so the new settings kick in. This saves you from having to do a restart and only takes about 10 seconds.
5. Enjoy your 10 custom resolutions in any aspect ratio you want.

I can now swap in 10 brand new custom resolutions in about 30 seconds to a minute. The longest part is manually typing the resolutions into the DSR tool :)

Detailed guide here.

Lovely 3:1, 2:1, 3:4, and 21:9 resolutions.

Thanks, but are your sure it applies the DSR downsampling?

The new resolutions appear under custom resolutions in the control panel instead of under Dynamic Super Resolutions.

After using his guide, under Global Settings in Nvidia Control my DSR now says Off. Not sure if that's good or bad lol. Working smoothly so far in BF1.

Yes. Not sure why they aren't being designated as DSR resolutions, but I do know that the smoothness setting is taking effect (which is DSR specific).

It's a screenshot from the opening cinematic cutscene. She is computer generated.

It's a pre-rendered video. Which like taking a screenshot of a movie. Looks horrible though do to the video compression.

BF1 Early Access | Props to jim2point0 for the custom rez guide!!

No problem. But.... you don't actually need custom resolutions to take screenshots of that game. It hotsamples, so you can just use something like SRWE to change the window size instead.

You can switch to a 3:4 resolution that fits on your screen (like 1080x1440 in my case). Get the framing for a shot. Then switch to a much higher resolution with SRWE like 4500x6000. Take a screenshot. Resize back down. Once you have profiles saved in SRWE, it's as simple as selecting resolutions from a drop-down menu to change.

This method also works in Shadow Warrior 2, which is how I'm getting 8600x3600 shots rather quickly.

Have to say that GOW4 is probably the biggest surprise to me so far..wasn't expecting it to look this good at all. Still..too bloody expensive at the moment being a MS published game. Plus I'm in Canada eh.

Is it against the rules of this thread to post a shot from a cutscene?

Blatant compression is frowned upon and all pre-rendered cutscenes have blatant compression. The reason people immediately assumed your shot was from a pre-rendered cutscene was because of how obvious the compression was.

We hate compression artifacts.

Was about to go to bed when I learned that Dice unlocked the remaining BF1 maps for the trial. Bastards.

Got 5 minutes into this map before I realized I'd be up all night playing it if I didn't quit now....
