Final Fantasy XV first 45 minute gameplay video (final build of the game)

Honestly it is pretty weary nowadays since even the slightest mention of Versus or
Stella
can completely derail the thread. And that's coming from both sides. Hopefully this will all go away in a year or two.

Plot twist:
She becomes a Stella lookalike wearing more modest clothing and becomes a party member, Noctis falls in love with her and marries her, babies ever after and the end.

Sending Luna to the afterlife as a motivational plot point for Noctis

:(
I do have a feeling Luna will die, but I think she might still play an important role from beyond the grave. Maybe she'll become a Goddess or something lol

Huh, I never really looked hard at this. How do we know who's human and who's a monster/summon?

It seems like most of the summons are on the far right, but the person holding her definitely could be one.

Okay now I'm very confused, wasn't the reason why the car broke down because of prompto like the anime suggested, so the car broke down twice? You would think King regis would have the money to inspect the car before giving it to noctis, no?
I think you really need to go back and watch the anime or just forget it completely. The car is never broken down in the anime and the Prompto episode isn't even in the same area.

And with talks of Luna and Cidney, to be honest, I hope the only romance in the game is between Prompto and Cidney. Or maybe a surprise Aranea one with someone! So far I haven't seen a single romantic scene of Noctis and Luna, and so many people just saying Luna is partly just there as a romantic interest. But it is Final Fantasy which has had like half the entries have a romance with the main main character so who knows!

I can see Prompto and Cidney. Especially since the VR mode let's you drive the car as Prompto and Cidney is with you. As for Luna, to me there are scenes where it's shown that she clearly cares about Noctis but we haven't seen much yet on interactions or what Noctis thinks of her. Still think something big will happen though. Aranea? Well she does call Noctis a pretty boy but that isn't romantic at all. So nothing between her and him.

I just looked at the Siggraph presentation of FFXV tech and , being the noob that I am, I got the impression that this engine is advanced as fuck. Is it just my noobness taking over though, or is it truly as impressive and advnaced as it looks?

Yeah actually, I think this game does too many things (good) from one end of the spectrum to the other, but its nice.

Yes it is.

The problem though is that you need some pretty beefy hardware in order to make it shine.

I'm okay with basically everything I've heard from the german dub so far exept for Ardyn. I think his german voice is really unfitting and that kills the entire dub for me even if the rest is good.
Well it at least makes the decision to play with jap. voices easier.

Man, it's mind-boggling how different Ignis' personality seems in the English script. In the German clip from Kingsglaive I posted before Ignis says to Noctis "Das ganze ist kein Gag, du Quatschkopf!", meaning something along the lines of "This whole thing is no joke, you dickhead/knucklehead/fool/moron!", which shows you they're good buddies. In the English version he says "We don't have time for all that." instead, which is so different, it's crazy. What the hell were they thinking with Ignis localization?

Eh. I don't think it's that crazy of a change in tone. He's still being clearly snarky with his response.

Noctis: "Tell me something I don't know"

Ignis: "We don't have time for allllllllll that"

Yes, there are some people who keep touting how the engine sucks etc. without any proof, but it has very advanced features and efficient workflow tools according to the footage we've seen. It's just the optimization that was lagging behind until the latest builds of FFXV.

Yes, I think this engine will surprise people. I have no doubt they will use it for the next mainline FF game.

Unless they didn't even start developing the next one, I'd be surprised if they did. FFXV is looking great indeed, but the engine was developed along with the game, and the engine's team was absorbed as part of FFXV's team, right? So they'd have to wait until it was ready to even begin making more stuff using it. Seems like a huge waste of resources to me. Tabata's next game will most likely use it, though.

Hm... Okay, I didn't pay attention to his tone, tbh. But I still think he should lighten up more and break Noct's balls here and there. He still sounds wayyy too snobby and formal.

He doesn't emphasize the "alllll" like I wrote out, but yeah. I generally agree with you, just I still felt the snark in his response there too. Though not as aggressive lol.

Yeah the next game using Luminous would probably start full development only now or after FFXV has released.

It's like Ignis is some kind of spoony bard or somethin'.

I''m guessing the engine team is still a team within a team. They'll move out to whatever game needs them afterwards. Hopefully back to FFXIV to revamp the engine now that ps3 support is dead. Then to whatever the next mainline FF is going to be.

I think German Ignis is completely unfitting. First of all, is voice doesn't suit him at all. He sounds like every other guy. In both Japanese and English they however opted for someone with a soft, warm and soothing voice.
Apart from the unfitting voice he also acts way too casual. He talks exactly like Noctis, Gladio and Prompto. I don't think Ignis would ever casually call Noctis a moron/dumbass/blockhead (however you would translate "Quatschkopf"). The other guys certainly would but not Ignis. Noctis might be his friend but first of all he is his prince to him.

Yes, English Ignis sounds too formal and snobbish but the German version goes too far in the exact other direction. Japanese Ignis is right in the middle and perfect. :) Japanese dub it is for me!

I'm not sure if it was a quote from Tabata himself, but it was something like "A game engine is only as good as the games it has been shipped with".

Just watched a bit of the video, the fight with the rhino thing looked fun, and intense as hell. I didn't like the animation how when it hit the characters, the characters kinda just moved over the floor like they floated for a second. Guess i'm being picky.

Hope the reviews are good, if so i'll pick it up.

But what if the German version actually is directly translated from Japanese as it's been speculated? Can somebody check out what he says in Japanese in the Kingsglaive scene?^^

Yeah the next game using Luminous would probably start full development only now or after FFXV has released.

There's a good chance that FF XVI hasn't begun development yet, or has only basic concepts worked on without much engine work. I can easily see FF XVI having Luminous being used.

Besides, if the numbers were good for Agni's Philosophy (from their poll) that may very well be some kind of game that comes out at some point. And it would be hilariously absurd if it didn't use Luminous.

We haven't complained about "press A for awesome" lately!

BTW, I don't know if it's been known here yet, but I missed this so I'm going to post it anyway. We were having a discussion about someone's take on FFXV recently where he spent the brunt of his piece on the nuisance of the button prompts popping up for parries, and NoctisPendragon of gamefaqs (one of the good posters, promise) noted that FOTMhero (also one of the good ones, and one of the first people to report about playing the final build) confirmed that he WAS able to disable those prompts!

I think we need some actual news and then a new thread. :3
They had their promo and media blowout weeks ago when the initial game release was supposed to be and now there's barely anything...

Mmm idk I think they did a pretty good job with information flow even with the delay. Gamescom, pax, tgs, launch day atr, twitchcon, egx. Maybe they'll do something for pgw otherwise I expect a launch trailer around this time next month

I agree they did a great job in the weeks leading up to the initial release and around the time of release. You forgot to mention the amazing live concert, the last episode of the Brotherhood anime and Kingsglaive's release. There were news nearly every day. But that was actually all stuff already planned for the initial release date. What did we get in the last two weeks and the coming 6-5 weeks? That moogle website? :/
Their promo machine considerably slowed down and I think they really threw nearly everything out they had and now have problems to come up with more. It's a shame really. Seeing previews of the exact same region for the umpteenth time is also getting old and repetitive and showing new stuff would spoil too much...
With the initial release date this would have been an absolutely glorious promo campaign starting from the Uncovered Event till September 30th.
