The NX Prediction / BSpeculation / Fanxiety Thread

How so? Because it likely means shit battery life?

If it's just in the dock portion that's fine, but nobody wants to deal with that shit in a portable device these days.

It means the device gets hot and needs active cooling. Extra parts. Extra noise. Extra shit to deal with when you are holding the damn thing as it blows hot air out. Worse battery life.

I don't know what I'm most excited about. Probably learning the real name, weirdly. I just love that stuff.

Me too, honestly.

That or the reveal of the Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts open world game that uses the new motion controllers as wands. Please :-)

Surface is pretty thin and it uses active cooling
Yep, i've got a Surface pro 4, and when i play games on it or i make something heavy like video or photo editing its fan turns on, it's not really that loud to be annoying, though you can definitely hear it, and since NX is made to run games, also pretty heavy ones like the new Zelda, i think that fan will be on most of the time.
But again if it'll be like the one in my SP4 it's not big deal, especially since it gets easily covered by the game sound

Well she says in the blog post referenced that battery life is
Ehhh not great. I haven’t heard an exact number of hours, but it doesn’t sound great.

The active cooling might be in the phablet but only power on when docked. Ya know, like the old "unlocked chip" theory?

Eurogamer can't be trusted, they missed lots of things, like the september reveal and not even updated the article.

I say this again.

Information changes. The information Eurogamer received at the time may have been correct. Things change.

The information may have been outdated, true but the reveal date changed, first hand, second hand etc etc. it doesn't make their claims any less valid.

For me it's the games. I need to know whether Nintendo has still got it even after their nightmarish track record recently (Mario Tennis Wii U, Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival, Federation Force, Star Fox Zero) or if they're slipping in quality.

Zelda gives me hope that it'll be the former. But damn this system needs a good launch lineup. That's what will 100% determine my hype levels for this it.

Not disagreeing with you but what kind of stuff has he she got wrong previously? A couple of examples. I haven't really took much notice of her before.

The Mother 3 thing I know, but this reaction seems blown out of proportion for that, so I'm guessing there's other stuff I missed.

Wasn't she the one who leaked Color Splash?

So, now that today is ruled out, we can safely say that it won't be for this week. Thus it's dead for this month, surely not for this year, and the console will obviously be delayed.

Expect an announcement by E3 2017, at the earliest.

Iwata didn't lie when he said NX might be multiple devices in the *future*. But NX is one device in the beginning. Make sense?

!!!

This is intriguing. Very intriguing.

What? AC is wildly popular. I know a bunch of people who got a 3DS just for New Leaf. It doesn't appeal to everyone, but it's definitely a break out title for Nintendo. I bet we'll see it by July.

It is a top tier Nintendo IP; there is a reason why it's one of the like, 4 franchises they chose to bring to mobile first.

But I agree that it isn't a good pack in game.

It just doesn't feel right. Sort of like packing it in with Smash Bros.. Just feels wrong. it's too, specific of an experience I suppose, even if it has wide appeal to be a game that is packed in from day one.

Thank you Vendetta, I just saw this now. psyfi, Vendetta said what I was originally intending to get across in my post, apologies if I was unclear. It's too specific and has wide appeal for some audience, but not for a Wii Sports level of vastness for an audience. Despite its immense popularity, wider swaths of gamers would have zero interest in it. It doesn't fit the bill as a pack-in for the general audience (it has a definite kiddy connotation that doesn't help either, to some, more so than Mario even) or as a pack-in killer app. I hope that makes sense. Again, it's my observation rather than anything I'd espouse as definite.

NX being only a docking handheld makes zero sense. They would go from two devices (WiiU and 3DS) to one device and cut off half of the gaming population. I'm sorry but 50% of gamers are going to hear 720p portable device that plugs into a tv and instantly be turned off. If the portable and console share the same games, why wouldn't there be two different devices?

Maybe I'm just being petty, but I don't want to deal with an actively cooled handheld in 2017 even if that means slightly less performance.

Hate me if you want too.

"Things change" shouldn't be a excuse for misinformation and the lack of updated news on their article.

Emily just stated it is one device in the beginning.

At last someone with common sense.

That is problematic. All I can hope is that maybe the dock has those parts.
I don't think so, i'm sure the dock, if it even exist, eill just be to project the console on a TV, and perhaps attach some USB devices, but all the hardware will be into the "Handheld" it would be a mess having additional power on a dock station for a lots of reasons, like for example not being able to play some games without the dock etc.
About the moving parts inside NX instead, don't be worry about that, i've got a SP4 with active cooling and i carry it with me anywhere and it has nothing moving inside at all, this cooling technology is pretty stable and specifically designed for mobile devices, battery draining instead is another thing, unfortunately i'm sure NX won't be the best handheld ever for battery life, prepere your battery bank and hope that Nintendo will put a USB type c for fast charging in thay thing

This, but i still have hope, Nintendo releases a bunch of rushed spin offs after properly planned games get released.

The new news are the countless ports for 3DS.

Uhhh while it does have hybrid cooling and tries to dissipate everything using the liquid cooling it's not as if the fan doesn't still exist which most certainly "moves."

Ya this thing is going to be clocked very high in some mode at the very least. AC on Pascal is serious business.

HH mode I still think is going to keep the fan(s) off entirely.

TBH, not sure how this is a revelation. It seemed fairly obvious that the plan is for all Nintendo hardware going forward to iterate on the NX architecture, much as Sony and MS are doing with their respective consoles.
It's a revelation to those who keep saying NX is going to be a handheld and console with the console being super powerful.

Eurogamer can't be trusted, they missed lots of things, like the september reveal and not even updated the article.

They may have gotten the reveal date wrong, but I'm not willing to throw the baby out with the bath water with the rest of their info, which has been echoed/corroborated by several other outlets and insiders.

Watch the 10% inaccurate be that it's on track for March release.

There is no reason to believe the NX will not release in March. She even doubled down on that yesterday.

You're skipping all the recent stellar releases. And FF and SF0 are more polarizing than nightmarish. Plus, if it's any consolation, some of those are clear cash-ins. Heck, amiibo Festival is an admitted cash-in.

For reference on the SP4

Hybrid cooling "pipes" in the middle that connect to the big plate to try and dissipate normal heat. Fan on the top left for when things get toasty.
