So uh, Titanfall 2 Campaign is amazing

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKD0FPmVrm8

For those who want to know what happens in the original game (not necessary), here is the Milita campaign from Titanfall 1 in 45 minutes. It was an online only game so you basically have to play 9 multiplayer games to get it.

This video will introduce one major character and tell you about a dude who has a lot of influence in an object in the Titanfall 2 campaign.

As I said, it's not necessary, but you can basically just listen to it and it's quite good.

It's good, but those saying it's better than DOOM, I have to wonder if you're the type to just get very excited about the newest thing.

This still feels like MW and typical military shooter single player. It's done very well but it never leaves that genre.

DOOM was some next level shit.

They're both great. Does everything need to be a competition?

And no, just because you don't think something is great it doesn't mean people are "the kinds of people.." that comes off as very condescending. For me, I would go with DOOM all the way but after finishing the game, the next day all I could think of was how much I freaking loved BT. The campaign is very memorable and what pushes it over the top for me is the characterization of BT

Really hope more people jump on board because it truly is awesome. Deserves far better sales than they're getting.

Well, this thread has sold me a copy... just when it's a bit cheaper. Can't really justify a $90 purchase on a 4-5 hour game, no interest in the MP unfortunately. Surprised at so many HL2 comparisons which is my GOAT shooter.

, when does this start getting "amazing" because so far it's pretty dull.

All guns are samey, story so far is shallow, set pieces are bland, and the graphics are really mediocre.

I regret reading this thread since it's what convinced me to purchase this game.

Yeah, the
time travel
part and the assembly part are amazing, the gameplay and settings makes the campaign fresh and actually fun without relying on chicles moments from other FPS games

Is that boss after the assembly bit? I can't remember. If so, and you thought that was bland, then you'll probably not like the rest of the game. Maybe you'll enjoy one section in particular but thats it.

The next chapter is pretty great.

Also I don't know what to say if you didn't like the chapter you just played. That's where it started getting really good, to me. The next chapter is even better.

Not sure what to tell you. Just because a lot of people enjoyed it doesn't mean you will or that you will even agree with them

Just completed SP personally myself just now. So damn satisfying. Just the right amount of everything in this first stab at a single player campaign. Want more :)

If the next mission doesn't convince you, then perhaps all the comparisons used in this thread aren't games you like?

I'm really hoping this game can gain players just from word of mouth kind of how Doom (seemed to). It would be pretty sad for it to just get looked over by so many just because it was released at a bad time. Some of the most fun I've had with an FPS in a long time.

True...this one just stood out cause it's getting unanimous praise for its singleplayer, from users and critics. I just don't see it though and I'm kinda bummed about it.

For the record the last great singleplayer FPS game I played and enjoyed was DOOM. But then again I also thought Wolfenstein TNO was a terrible game.

To be fair, they're totally different kind of games. Doom is an old school shooter for the modern age, This is a modern set piece-focused shooter stripped of all filler and puts gameplay first before all else

The highlights here at least for me is the freedom of movement and the pacing. Each chapter focuses on a specific idea/concept and crafts its battles and level design around it. And within those battles, you're able to outmaneuver and flank and temporarily sneak seamlessly

I dont know what to tell you. Doom tends to use agressive AI to rush the player and agressivly push them around the room. Titanfall 2 gives the player a canvass and then lets them push the pace as fast or as slow as they want.

Ultimately they are reasonably different experiences. It might not be for you. However its pretty short so you may as well just push on to the ending to see if it changes your mind.

In my opinion, Effect and Cause is the first truly GREAT mission in the game. So, uh, keep going. It gets better.

I've been hearing this a lot. I generally tend to ignore shooters since they're so multiplayer focused, so it's refreshing to hear about a campaign being this good.

I picked it up because I saw people in awe of the campaign and I have to agree

This is amazing

It has so many elements of games I loved (I said in the OT it has HL2 + Duke Nukem + Dark Souls + UT vibes)

hmmm may have to pick this up for ps4

I had doubts but those were obliterated about 30 minutes in

If I recently tried to play Halo 5's campaign and was so bored after 30 minutes that I immediately sold the game, is Titanfall 2's campaign something I might actually want to stick with?

For reference: I do like FPS games.

Halo 5 is one of the worst FPS campaigns in recent memory and Titanfall 2 is one of the best.

World of difference.

I also think the art style is being really underappreciated. I love the James Cameron style 80s industrial sci-fi + militarism lane they're working in. The use of color and lighting gives the game a painterly concept art look at times, and something about the material shading is really appealing to me. The whole presentation is really underplayed, but still very striking at times. I have a bunch of screens I'd dump to illustrate my point, but I don't want to spoil anything. Easily my favorite visuals in any of these recent sci-fi shooters.

Almost every FPS campaign recently released was better than Halo5. And I love Halo, don't get me wrong. The campaign is just unremarkable for the most part.

Titanfall2 is probably better than all of them on the other hand. It's something most fps fans won't want to miss. It's really that good.

Crossposting from the OT:

Holy shit, just played 2 hours of the campaign. You guys were not kidding, this is amazing.
Also, WTF, is this really the Source engine? Shit looks better than most of the games currently out, art direction is amazing as well.

I didn't really understand or follow the story that well, but the gameplay and mechanics were super slick and awesome

Yes. It's in orders of magnitude better than Halo 5's campaign.

Same for me. I love playing it but I lose track of what is actually going on. Used to happen in Halo all the time, had no idea what I was fighting for, but it felt good.

Not as good as DOOM but still good.
I'd give it the nod over DOOM because DOOM is a one trick pony, it just executes that one trick flawlessly.

Titanfall 2's campaign is an eight+ trick pony, and while short its a perfectly paced lil package.

And of course people have gushed about both the DOOM and Titanfall campaigns because they both wildly exceeded expectations, so they both get to simmer in some post-release hype juice.

Yea the art direction is amazing.

It's good, but I preferred the first game's art direction a bit more. I liked the gritty industrialized military feel it had, it reminded me a lot of Halo: Reach's art direction, which I absolutely loved.

No true campaign is what kept me away from the first. I'm just not into multiplayer but I'll play a campaign even if it's only 5 hours like CoD averages. If TF2 campaign is truly good, I'll give it a go once the price plummets.

Like I said in my review, it's the Super Mario Galaxy 2 of shooters. Nonstop inventiveness wrapped in unbelievable locomotion.

This is the most absurd post I've seen in a while. There's nothing inventive about this game, it's the same repetition of the wall running mechanic the whole game.
